The Effect of the Technical and Virtual Creator Characteristics of Vtuber's Personal Broadcasting on Pleasure, Satisfaction, and Paid Sponsorship Intention: Based on the S-O-R Model (브이튜버(Vtuber) 개인방송의 기술적 특성과 가상 크리에이터 특성이 즐거움, 시청만족도 및 유료후원의도에 미치는 영향: S-O-R 모델을 기반으로)

  • Personal broadcasting utilizing Vtuber, a virtual creator made of 2D or 3D avatars, has recently appeared and is growing in popularity. Vtuber is a virtual person who broadcasts on the Internet using 2D or 3D avatars with real-time motion capture and computer graphics technologies. While the personal broadcasting industry utilizing Vtuber is proliferating, related studies have mainly concentrated on technical issues. Therefore, in this study, the antecedent factors that form the technical characteristics and virtual creator characteristics of Vtuber personal broadcasting are derived using the Stimulus-Organism-Response (S-O-R) model. Then the effect of these factors on viewer pleasure and satisfaction, which lead to increased paid sponsorship is to be examined. Furthermore, we investigate how this influencing mechanism fluctuates based on the avatar type (2D vs. 3D). This study contributes to empirical examinations of viewers' paid sponsorship intention in Vtuber personal broadcasting through the S-O-R model. It also offers insights that technological or virtual creator characteristics could improve viewers' pleasure, satisfaction, and even paid sponsorship.

To Bid or Not to Bid? - Keyword Selection in Paid Search Advertising

  • The selection of keywords for bidding is a critical component of paid search advertising. When the number of possible keywords is enormous, it becomes difficult to choose the best keywords for advertising and then subsequently to assess their effect. To this end, we propose an ultrahigh dimensional keyword selection approach that not only reduces the dimension for selections, but also generates the top listed keywords for profits. An empirical analysis using a unique panel dataset from a large online clothes retailer that advertises on the largest search engine in China (i.e., Baidu) is presented to illustrate the usefulness of our approach.

  • With the development of medical technology, economic growth and increased interests In health in our society nowadays, the male and female average length of life has continued to increase. In response to the rapid aging phenomenon, diverse paid residential facilities for the elder have geometrically emerged in a short period, but compared to their quantitative increase, the kinds of facilities are not diverse and the quality of the facility environment also is not at the desirable level in comparison with the economic and intellectual level. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to analyze the residential space from a perspective of marketing and establish the residential environment for the elder in response to the expansion of the market of the paid residential facilities for the elder in the future.

The Effects of Paid Family Leave on Corporate Social Responsibility

  • Purpose - The objective of this research is to investigate how lowering labor market frictions for female workers affects corporate social responsibility (CSR). Design/methodology/approach - We utilize the staggered adoption of state-level Paid Family Leave (PFL) acts in the U.S. These acts provide significant flexibility for female employees by mandating paid leave for a family or medical events. Our study is based on a sample of 30,027 publicly traded firms in the U.S. from 1991 to 2012. We employ a difference-in-differences research design, considering treated firms as those headquartered in states that enacted PFL laws. Findings - We find that there is a significant increase in the firms' CSR performance following the adoption of the PFL, suggesting that lowering the labor market frictions for female workers encourages firms to invest in CSR initiatives. Research implications or Originality - This study informs policy makers that PFL enables firms to reduce costly employee turnover and results in an increase in CSR performance.

Factors Affecting Intention to Use a Paid Health Care Service by Health Check-up Participants in a Local Medical Center (한 지방의료원 건강검진 수검자의 유료 건강관리서비스 이용의도에 미치는 영향 요인)

  • Objectives: The objective of this study is to analyze factors affecting intention to use a paid health promotion service by using the health belief model. Methods: A self-administered survey was conducted with 276 health check-up participants aged ${\geq}20$ at a local medical center in Korea from November 8 to November 24, 2010. Results: 53.6% of the respondents had intention to use a paid health promotion service, and around 85% of them were willing to pay for 'less than five thousand won per month'. Factors affecting the intention to use paid the service was age, education, income, and health check-up experience. In terms of health belief model constructs, people had greater intention to use a paid the service when they perceived to be sensitive to lifestyle associated diseases and recognized advantages of health promotion services. Conclusions: Approximately half of the respondents had intention to use a paid health promotion service. Reasonable price for the service was less than five thousand Korean won per month. Health promotion service act and services should consider these findings.

Financial Planning for Retirement among Paid Workers Aged 20s and 30s (20, 30대 임금근로자의 은퇴재무설계에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the expectations and attitudes toward retirement, and financial planning for retirement among paid workers aged 20s and 30s. It compared paid workers' socio-economic, and retirement-related characteristics between those who had retirement planning and those who did not, and identified factors important to retirement planning decision. Data for this study were from a questionnaire completed by paid workers in age 20s and 30s (n=227), and were analyzed by t-tests, chi-square tests, and a logistic regression model. The findings of this study were as follows: First, the paid workers' expected retirement age was 56, and their ideal age for retirement was about 60. More than 85% of workers agreed that the retirement planning should begin before age 40, but just 51 % of the workers had retirement planning. Second, the workers aged 30s, married, and those who had higher incomes and home ownership were more likely to prepare financially for their retirement. Third, as their expected retirement age increased, the probability of decision to retirement planning increased. Those who expected that the economic status of retirees' living would be same as their current economic status were more likely to have retirement planning. The positive attitudes toward retirement had significant effect on the decision to have retirement planning.

The Real Picture of the Care Costs Paid to Korean Oncology Advanced Practice Nurses (종양전문간호사 업무에 대한 수가 실태)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the actual care costs paid to Korean Oncology Advanced Practice Nurses (KOAPN). Methods: We collected data using a group discussion and questionnaire identified 115 tasks from job descriptions developed by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing. Forty-two KOAPN working at three university hospitals in Seoul were asked to evaluate each task as to type and whether the cost is paid or not. They were also asked to indicate the tasks in urgent need of development of a care cost with high priority. Results: Only five tasks (4.3%) related to treatment and complication related interventions or education were paid, and they were paid only once during the entire treatment period and were not covered by national health insurance. It was approved as a medical fee by health insurance review & assessment service. Furthermore, the names of the authority (doctor) and the actual provider (nurse) of the prescriptions were different for three of those tasks. Most of the suggested tasks needing development of care costs were actions specifically performed by nurses (physical-psychosocial-spiritual assessment, independent nursing interventions). Conclusion: KOAPN are currently paid for few tasks. To maximize the utilization of KOAPN, the establishment of a clear rational payment system directly related to their actual activities is needed.

  • In this paper, a research model was designed to investigate the factors affecting the purpose intentions to the online paid knowledge contents in China. The research model includes the contents characteristics, recognition of copyright, recognition of paid, the theory of planned behavior factors. In this research, the data was collected by online survey, and in final analysis, 457 users' questionnaires were used. The empirical paper proves research hypothesis by using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 23.0. The results of the study are as follows: the contents characteristics partially give positive effects to attitude. In addition, recognition of paid and planning behavior theory factors have positive effects to purpose intentions. This paper provides a useful scheme to promotion the purpose of purchase for paid online knowledge contents.

The Mental Health of Self-Employed During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Comparison Between Self-Employed and paid-employed (코로나-19 팬데믹 상황에서 자영업자의 정신건강: 자영업자와 임금근로자의 비교)

  • This study was analyzed by comparing it with paid-employed to understand the mental health level of self-employed people during the COVID-19 pandemic. The subjects of this study were 6,736 self-employed and 15,196 paid-employed using the 6th data of the Korean Working Conditions Survey(2020-2021). As a result of the study, self-employed people are more anxiety(F=-2.81, p=0.001) than paid-employed. Sleep disorders (F=-18.05, p=2.035), and depression levels(F=19.80, p=1.176) were all high, and the positive perception of subjective health(F=29.70, p=1.020) was also lower than that of paid-employed. Therefore, it is suggested that long-term and practical government policy and social security systems are needed for groups particularly disadvantaged by COVID-19.
