PURPOSE. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the shear bond strength of the gingiva-colored composite resin and the tooth-colored composite resin to porcelain, metal and zirconia. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Sixty cylindrical specimens were fabricated and divided into the following 6 groups (Group 1-W: tooth-colored composite bonded to porcelain, Group 1-P: gingiva-colored composite bonded to porcelain, Group 2-W: tooth-colored composite bonded to base metal, Group 2-P: gingiva-colored composite bonded to base metal, Group 3-W: tooth-colored composite bonded to zirconia, Group 3-P: gingiva-colored composite bonded to zirconia). The shear bond strength was measured with a universal testing machine after thermocycling and the failure mode was noted. All data were analyzed using the two-way analysis of variance test and the Bonferroni post-hoc test at a significance level of 0.05. RESULTS. The mean shear bond strength values in MPa were 12.39, 13.42, 8.78, 7.98, 4.64 and 3.74 for Group 1-W, 1-P, 2-W, 2-P, 3-W and 3-P, respectively. The difference between the two kinds of composite resin was not significant. The shear bond strength of Group 1 was the highest and that of Group 3 was the lowest. The differences among Group 1, 2 and 3 were all significant (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The shear bond strength of the gingiva-colored composite was not less than that of the tooth-colored composite. Thus, repairing or fabricating ceramic restorations using the gingiva-colored composite resin can be regarded as a practical method. Especially, the prognosis would be fine when applied on porcelain surfaces.
In order to make load balancing, workload information of nodes should be informed to the network. In a load balancing algorithm[13] based on the SBIBD(Symmetric Balanced Incomplete Block Design), each node receives global workload information by only two round message exchange with O (${\upsilon}{\sqrt{\upsilon}}$) traffic overhead, where ${\upsilon}$ is the number of nodes. It is very efficient but works well only when ${\upsilon}=p^2+p+1$ for a prime number p. In this paper, we generate a special incidence structure in order for the algorithm works well for an arbitrary number of nodes. In the experiment with w,($5{\leq}w{\leq}5,000$), nodes and more than 80% of receiving workload information, traffic overhead was less than O ($w{\sqrt{w}})$ and the result for standard deviation of traffic overhead showed that each node has largely balanced amount of traffic overhead.

In a variety of animal species, the perinatal exposure of experimental animals to the 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzop-dioxin (TCDD) leads to the immune dysfunction, which is more severe and persistent than that caused by adult exposure. We report here the changes of gene expression and the identification of the marker-genes representing the dioxin exposure. The expressions of the transcripts were analyzed using the 11 K oligonucleotidemicroarray from the bone marrow cells of male C57BL/6J mice after an intraperitoneal injection of $1{\mu}g$ TCDD/kg body weight at various time intervals: gestational 6.5 day(G6.5), 13.5 day(G13.5), 18.5 day(G18.5), and postnatal 3 (P3W)and 6 week (P6W). The type of self-organizing maps(SOM) representing the specific exposure dioxin could be identified as follows; G6.5D(C14), G13.5D(C0, C5, C10, C18), G18.5D(7): P3W(C2, C21), and P6W(C4, C15, C20). The candidate marker-genes were restricted to the transcripts, which could be consistently expressed greater than $\pm$2-fold in three experiments. The resulting candidates were 85 genes, the characteristics of that were involved in cell physiology and cell functions such as cell proliferation and immune function. We identified the biomarker-genes for dioxin exposure: smc -like 2 from SOM C14 for the dioxin exposure at G6.5D, focal adhesion kinase and 6 other genes from C0, and protein tyrosine phosphatase 4a2 and 3 other genes from C5 for G13.5D, platelet factor 4 from C7 for G18.5D, fos from C2 for P3W.
In this paper, we investigate the following additive functional inequality (0.1) ||f(x)+f(y)+f(z)+f(w)||${\leq}$||f(x+y)+f(z+w)|| in normed modules over a $C^*$-algebra. This is applied to understand homomor-phisms in $C^*$-algebra. Moreover, we prove the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability of the functional inequality (0.2) ||f(x)+f(y)+f(z)f(w)||${\leq}$||f(x+y+z+w)||+${\theta}||x||^p||y||^p||z||^p||w||^p$ in real Banach spaces, where ${\theta}$, p are positive real numbers with $4p{\neq}1$.
We have mapped the W 3 giant molecular cloud in the $C^o\;^3P_1-^3 P_o$ ([CI]) line with the Mount Fuji Submillimeter-wave Telescope. The [CI] emission is extended over the molecular cloud, having peaks at three star forming clouds; W 3(Main), W 3(OH), and AFGL 333. The [CI] emission is found to be strong in the AFGL 333 cloud. We have also observed the $C^{18}O,\;CCS,\;N_2H^+$, and $H^{13}CO^+$ lines by using the Nobeyama Radio Observatory 45 m telescope. In the AFGL 333 cloud, we find two massive cores, which are highly gravitationally bound and have no sign of active star formation. The high [$C^o$]/[CO] and [CCS]/[$N_2H^+$] abundance ratios suggest that the AFGL 333 cloud is younger than the W 3(Main) and W 3(OH) clouds.
In order to evaluate the therapeutic effect of argon laser irradiation on hypersensitive root, 60 mandibular premolars that had been extracted due to periodontal disease were treated by thorough scaling, root planing and root conditioning with tetracycline HCI(100mg/ml, 5 min.) for induction of hypersensitive root. Within middle one third of root mesial surface(30) or distal surface(30) was randomly irradiated by 0.5W-, 0.75W- and 1.0W-power for 2 minutes argon laser(HGM Inc., USA) with or without topical application of 1.23% acidulated phosphate fluoride gel(Pascal, USA). After all teeth were maintained in 2% methylene blue solution for 48 hours and cross-sectioned through irradiated surface of dried roots, methylene blue stained area was compared between irradiated side and nonirradiated side. Following results were obtained : 1. Methylene blue stained area was significantly less in the laser irradiated group than control group(p<0.05). 2. There was no significant difference in methylene blue stained area between 0.5W-power and 0.75W-power group(p>0.1) and between 0.75W-power and 1.0W-power group(p>0.1), but there was significant difference between 0.5W-power and 1.0W-power group(p<0.05). 3. There was no significant difference in methylene blue stained area between two groups with and without topical application of 0.12% acidulated phosphate fluoride gel(p>0.1). The results suggest that argon laser irradiation on hypersensitive root may reduce the hypersensitivity by obstruction of dentinal tubules.
Bovine serum albumin(BSA) was solubilized into the reverse micellar phase consisting of sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate(AOT) and isooctane using the phase transfer method. Of particular interest in this study were the effects of pH and the added salt type and concentration on the solubilization efficiency. When univalent or divalent salts such as KCl, NaCl, $MgCl_2$, or $CaCl_2$ were added to the aqueous phase at a concentration of 0.1 M, maximum solubilization efficiency was attained at a pH ranging from 5 to 7, depending on the added salt type. Increased salt concentration up to 1 M resulted in an increased solubilization efficiency for $CaCl_2$ and NaCl, while the addition of $MgCl_2$ beyond 0.1 M showed an anomalous trend. Further, it was noteworthy that too a large extent the protein precipitated in the interface between the organic and aqueous phases at lower pHs and lower salt concentrations. The size of the reverse micelle water pool was estimated by measuring the molar ratio of the surfactant to the water, $W_0$. Irrespective of pH in the aqueous phase, the resulting value of $W_0$ was almost constant, eg., 20 for $MgCl_2$ . However, the value of $W_0$ decreased with increased salt concentration in the cases of KCl and $CaCl_2$.
This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics and antioxidant properties of cookies supplemented with 1-4% (w/w) persimmon leaf powder (PLP). pH and density of the cookie dough increased significantly with increase in PLP concentration (p<0.05). The moisture content, spread ratio, and loss rate of cookies decreased significantly with increase in PLP concentration (p<0.05). Lightness ($L^*$), redness ($a^*$), and yellowness ($b^*$) also decreased significantly with increase in PLP concentration (p<0.05). The use of PLP significantly increased the hardness of the cookies. Moreover, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2,2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) radical scavenging activities were significantly elevated (p<0.05). The consumer acceptance test indicated that addition of PLP at a concentration of up to 2% (w/w) garnered a favorable response from consumers with respect to softness, taste, and overall preference. On the basis of the overall observations, cookies supplemented with 2% (w/w) PLP were found to benefit from the functional properties of PLP, without compromising on consumer acceptance.
In this paper, we compute the Bergman kernel for Ωp,q,r = {(z, z', w) ∈ ℂ2 × Δ : |z|2p < (1 - |z'|2q)(1 - |w|2)r}, where p, q, r > 0 in terms of multivariable hypergeometric series. As a consequence, we obtain the behavior of KΩp,q,r (z, 0, 0; z, 0, 0) when (z, 0, 0) approaches to the boundary of Ωp,q,r.
The bioavailabilities of baicalin in water, oil, w/o and o/w emulsion were evaluated in rats. The dissolution rate of baicalin in o/w emulsion was smaller than those of w/o form in dilute hydrochloric acid solution (pH 1.2) and in PBS (pH 6.8). The absorption rate of baicalin from w/o emulsion was smaller than that of o/w emulsion in the different parts of rat intestine of the rats. Following oral administration in rats, the $C_{max}$ of baicalin from water phase, oil phase, o/w wand w/o emulsion were 2.11, 0.61, 1.57, and $1.35\;{\mu}g/ml$, respectively. The relative bioavailability of w/o emusion was 129 % when it was compared with water phase. This result suggests that the improvement of bioavailability for baicalin in w/o emulsion might be practically available.
