QoS-based P2P Streaming Protocol (QoS 기반이 P2P 스트리밍 프로토콜)

  • This paper proposes a P2P(Peer-to-Peer) streaming protocol which allows various QoS(Qualify of Service) requirements of video streaming to be supported for various personal IPTV applications in ubiquitous Internet environments. The proposed P2P streaming protocol takes fairly short startup delay, guarantees end-to-end delay bound and bandwidth requirements, and supports reliability level of video streaming for an IPTV application. The QoS-based P2P streaming protocol can properly use not only the advantages of scalability, availability, and ubiquity of P2P streaming but also complement its disadvantages of performance and reliability so that various types of personal IPTV applications can be properly implemented in the existing broadband Internet environments.

  • As the performance of the next-generation broadband wireless networks is dramatically enhanced, various services (i.e., education, Live video streaming, Live video conferencing, online games, etc.) have been provided to users through a smart mobile platform. Those services are usually provided by using the centralized communication server. However, since all multimedia traffic is exchanged through a communication server, it often has the scalability problem with regard to traffic management. Our main purpose is for group smart users to provide scalable live multimedia streaming service based on P2P network. To do this, we have designed an architecture of P2P-based service management for mobile group communication management and service management protocol. In order to verify the performance of the proposed scheme, we have mathematically analyzed the performance in terms of the average transmission delay and bandwid th utilization.

Enhanced Peer-to-Peer Streaming Protocol to Provide The Selective VoD Service in Live Streaming Session (스트리밍 세션에서 선택적 VoD 서비스 제공을 위한 향상된 피어-투-피어 스트리밍 프로토콜)

  • We propose a method to provide a selective VoD service during live streaming sessions. In the proposed method, each peer joined the live streaming session receives video stream packets with P2P manner and stores the packets to provide a VoD service. To mitigate the overhead of each peer node to store the video stream packets, the proposed scheme categorizes peers into three different groups based on their link types. To increase data gathering speed and reduce the network load, we also proposes the P2P transmission scheme within the same AP network for the peers with Wi-Fi link. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we implement computer simulator using NS-3. Simulation results show that the proposed method reduces the overhead about 66% and increases the P2P data gathering speed about 50% compared to the conventional schemes.

  • 향후 인터넷 기반 애플리케이션에는 확장성, 보안 및 신뢰성, 새로운 서비스에 대한 유연성 및 QoS 등의 요구사항이 중요하다. 기존 클라이언트-서버 방식에서 이러한 요구 사항의 만족을 위해서는 복잡성 및 고비용 문제가 제기된다. 반면, 모든 형태의 분산 자원 접근이 가능한 P2P 통신 방식에서는 보다 간단한 해결방안을 제시함으로써 인터넷 기반 애플리케이션에 새로운 가능성을 제시하고 있다. 인터넷의 전통적인 클라이언트-서버 패러다임과는 달리 완전 분산 및 자율 조직 특성을 가진 P2P 개념은 확장성 및 신뢰성 측면에서 장래의 애플리케이션, 시스템 요소, 인프라 서비스를 위한 기본 설계지침으로 제시되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 P2P 실시간 스트리밍 프로토콜의 새로운 모델인 PREP 프로토콜을 설계 및 구현한다. 제안된 P2P 실시간 스트리밍 프로토콜을 NS-2를 통해서 설계하고 시뮬레이션을 통해 P2P 기반의 스트리밍 서비스의 가능성을 확인한다.

  • For a P2P network, the contents distribution is a very important service because the contents provider is not fixed. And in the P2P media streaming, a request peer replays and saves media data simultaneously, and after streaming it acts as a new source peer providing media files to other peers. Therefore streaming and file saying operations should be simultaneously carried out in order to distribute contents through the P2P network. In this paper, a P2P multi-source media streaming system which can replay the contents data during downloading is proposed and implemented. The system reduces the user response time and the number of simultaneous user increases more than two times. Moreover, transmitting a part of media file makes fast distribution and diffusion of contents possible.

  • We describe a method for streaming specific section using the section information among peers on P2P network. As peers tend to extract only the part of contents in which they are interested, an indexed file is created based on the section information of multimedia contents and registered in the search server. If a peer requests the streaming of specific parts of the contents to other corresponding peer using the section information that the server returns, the peer streams only separated section of the multimedia contents according to the information. For this process, we implement a function that a peer's PC can play a role as a server, and the peer streams the separated content based on the section information that the server supplies.

  • 본 논문은 P2P 환경에서 파운틴 코드를 이용하여 효율적으로 비디오 스트리밍 서비스를 제공하는 멀티캐스트 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 멀티캐스트 트리 전체의 전송 지연과 복구 지연의 합을 최소화하는 초기 코드율과 복구 노드 벡터를 결정하고, 부분 부호화 복구 기법을 사용하여 복구 지연을 감소시킨다. 실험 결과를 통해 제안한 시스템이 오버레이 멀티캐스트 트리 상에서 빠르고 효율적으로 비디오 스트리밍 서비스를 제공함을 보인다.

  • In P2P distribution mobile networks, QoS of streaming media services are under heavy influence from overheads such as congestion, latency, and interference. The problem is further complicated by the fact that the popularity of media objects changes over time. This paper proposes a new FSMS+ (Fuzzy Similarity-based Multi-level Streaming Scheme) which minimizes performance degradation of streaming services due to overhead. We then utilize fuzzy similarity-based relevance that can dynamically stream the streaming media object with minimum overhead. The simulation result showed that the proposed scheme has better performance in retransmission rate, congestion control rate and latency rate than the other existing methods of distance method, DC (disk caching) method, and prefix method.

  • IPTV의 스트리밍 서비스를 위해 P2P를 이용하는 방법이 활발하게 연구되어지고 있다. 이 논문에서는 topology를 최적화하는 방안으로 P2P에서 각 peer 간에 연결 및 전송 정보를 이용하는 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법은 mesh-network에서 각 peer에 연결된 link의 수를 이용하여 업로드 대역폭을 추정하는 알고리즘을 기반으로 한다. 이 방법은 자원의 관리를 위해 업로드 대역폭을 판단하기 위한 메시지 과부하를 효과적으로 줄여주지만 스트리밍에서 주어진 연산만을 수행할 경우 업로드 대역폭과 무관한 형태로 network topology가 잘못 구성될 가능성을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존 연구에서 부족했던 부분들을 정리하고 극복할 수 있는 각각의 알고리즘들과 적용했을 시에 예상되는 결과를 제시한다.

  • Recently, streaming service accounts for large part of internet traffic and it is becoming the most popular service. Because of P2P's scalability, P2P-based streaming system is proposed. There are frequent leave and join of a node. To overcome the group dynamics, Multiple Multicast Trees Methods were suggested. However, since they did not consider discrepancy in peers' capacity, it may cause the trees to be long and unstable. So we suggest Resilient Capacity-Aware Multicast Tree construction scheme (R-CAT) that promotes superior peer to upper position in the tree and construct more stable and short multicast trees. By simulation we can show that R-CAT cost more overhead packets for tree joining process, but it reduce the end-to-end delay of the resulting tree and the number of packets lost during the node joining and leaving processes much more than SplitStream.
