  • This study is a descriptive research to understand the degree and relevance of profession value, self - esteem, and sociality of nursing college students according to voluntary service activities. The results showed that the formation of profession values according to the general characteristics was related to religion (F = 4.79, p = .003) and major (F = 3.75, p = .011) and self esteem was related to grade (F = 4.84, p = .002). The profession values according to the characteristics of voluntary service activities showed a significant difference in volunteer time (F=18.70, p<.001), volunteer duration (F=18.87, p<.001), volunteer organization(F=3.41, p=.001), volunteer motivation(F=8.08, p<.001), participation path(F=3.63, p=.002), participation field(F = 2.13, p = .031). The profession value was positively correlated with self-esteem(r = .327, p <.01) and sociality(r= .248, p <.01). Self-esteem showed a statistically significant positive correlation with sociality(r= .327, p <.01).

  • The emerging peer-to-peer (P2P) model has recently gained a significant attention due to its high potential of sharing various resources among networked users. Super-peer based unstructured P2P systems have been found very effective by dividing the peers into two layers, super-peer and ordinary-peer Super-peers deal with all queries instead of ordinary-peers. The existing P2P systems assume all super-peers have equal responsibility and capabilities even if all super-peers have relative advantages and disadvantages. In this paper, we suggest the ISP2P (Intelligent Super-peer based P2P) which allows to select the best super peer to ordinary-peers. We classify super peers according as the capacity of an ordinary-peer a super-peer. We show that these considerations could improve the performance of the response time and Provide higher quality results to all peers in the network.

  • The point $P{\in}{\mathbb{P}}^2$ is referred to as a Galois point for a nonsingular plane algebraic curve C if the projection ${\pi}_P:C{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{P}}^1$ from P is a Galois covering. In contrast, the point $P^{\prime}{\in}C^{\prime}$ is referred to as a weak Galois Weierstrass point of a nonsingular algebraic curve C' if P' is a Weierstrass point of C' and a total ramification point of some Galois covering $f:C^{\prime}{\rightarrow}{\mathbb{P}}^1$. In this paper, we discuss the following phenomena. For a nonsingular plane curve C with a Galois point P and a double covering ${\varphi}:C{\rightarrow}C^{\prime}$, if there exists a common ramification point of ${\pi}_P$ and ${\varphi}$, then there exists a weak Galois Weierstrass point $P^{\prime}{\in}C^{\prime}$ with its Weierstrass semigroup such that H(P') = or , which is a semigroup generated by two positive integers r and 2r + 1 or 2r - 1, such that P' is a branch point of ${\varphi}$. Conversely, for a weak Galois Weierstrass point $P^{\prime}{\in}C^{\prime}$ with H(P') = or , there exists a nonsingular plane curve C with a Galois point P and a double covering ${\varphi}:C{\rightarrow}C^{\prime}$ such that P' is a branch point of ${\varphi}$.

  • Let R be a ring and ${\alpha}$ a monomorphism of R. We study the skew Laurent polynomial rings R[x, x$^{-1}$; ${\alpha}$] over an ${\alpha}$-skew Armendariz ring R. We show that, if R is an ${\alpha}$-skew Armendariz ring, then R is a Baer (resp. p.p.-)ring if and only if R[x, x$^{-1}$; ${\alpha}$] is a Baer (resp. p.p.-) ring. Consequently, if R is an Armendariz ring, then R is a Baer (resp. p.p.-)ring if and only if R[x, x$^{-1}$] is a Baer (resp. p.p.-)ring.

  • The main bottleneck for a VOD system is bandwidth of storage or network I/O due to the high bandwidth requirements and long-lived nature of digital video. Patching is one of the most efficient techniques to overcome the bottleneck of the VOD system through the use of multicast scheme. In this paper, we propose a new patching scheme, P2P proxy patching, for improving the typical patching technique by jointly using the proxy prefix caching scheme and the P2P proxy. In our proposed scheme, each client play a role in a proxy for multicasting a regular stream to other clients that request the same stream. Due the use of the P2P proxy and the prefix caching, the server bandwidth is required significantly less than that of the typical patching technique. In the performance study, we show that our patching scheme can reduce the server bandwidth requirements compared with the existing patching techniques.

  • This study was conducted to assess the predictive value of p-glycoprotein (p-gp) and p53 immunoexpression in human papillomavirus (HPV) infected cases of cervical dysplasia. Expression of both p-gp and p53 proteins was detected in cervical smears from 177 squamous intraepithelial lesions (SIL) cases along with 183 "atypical squamous cells of unknown significance" (ASCUS) and 150 normal cases. HPV 16 and 18 infection was detected by polymerase chain reaction using type-specific primers for HPV sub-types. There were no significant detectable p53 and p-gp expression in the normal cervix smears (p>0.05). In the ASCUS group 10 cases were positive for both p53 and p-gp immunoreactivity. In cervical dysplasia cases, p53 was positive in 86 (48.58%) while p-gp was positive in 93 (52.54%) and the two markers showed a highly significant correlation (r=0.92, p<0.001). Expression of p53 and p-gp was associated with grade of SIL (p<0.001). A positive correlation between the presence of HPV and expression of proteins p53 and p-gp in smears of patients with cervical lesions was also noted (p<0.001). Thus, p53 and p-gp immunostaining in cervical smears may act as an auxiliary biomarker for detection of HPV-associated cervical lesions. Additionally, a significant positive correlation between ascending grades of SIL and labeling indices of markers suggests that p53 and p-gp can be used as an adjunct to cytomorphological interpretation of conventional cervical Pap smears.

  • To increase phosphate (P) availability in soils, the efficiency of silicate (Si) in reducing P adsorption was investigated by competitive adsorption tests under changing conditions of pH, ion concentrations, and order of anion addition along with single adsorption properties of each ion at $20^{\circ}C$. In the single ion adsorption study, P and Si ions showed the opposite reaction patterns: phosphate adsorption decreased with increasing pH and attained adsorption maximum however, silicate adsorption increased with increasing pH without attaining adsorption maximum. Phosphorus and Si adsorption were influenced by pH in the range of 5.0 - 9.0 and the type and amount of P and Si concentration. Silicate added to soil before P or in a mixture with P significantly reduced P adsorption above pH 7.0; however, there was no significant Si-induced decreased in P adsorption at pH 5.0 when anions were added as mixture. The efficiency of Si in reducing P adsorption increased with increasing Si concentration and pH. The effect of P on Si adsorption was relatively small at pH 5.0 and no effect of P on silicate adsorption was observed at pH 9.0. The presence of Si strongly depressed P adsorption when Si was added before P compared to P and Si added as a mixture. These results suggest that application of Si may decrease P adsorption and increase the availability of P in soils. Furthermore, a Si source would be better to add before P application to enhance the availability of P in soils.

  • To develop the new strains of microorganisms having the degradative ability for various aromatic hydrocarbons, the hybrid plasmid pKG2 having the 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid(2,4-D) degradative genes, the hybrid plasmid pKG3 containg the naphthalene degradative genes and TOL plasmid were introduced into Pseudomonas putida KUD 12 and P. putida KUP 10 by transformation or conjugation which originally have the degradative ability of the synthetic surfactants and phthalate esters, respectively. From P. putida KUD12, the new strains of P. putida KUD101(pKG2), KUD102(pKG3), KUD103(TOL), and KUD202(pKG3, TOL) were obtained, and KUD106(pKG2), KUD107(pKG3), KUD108(TOL) were originated from the P.putida KUP10. The degradative abilities in P. putida KUD101, KUD102 and KUD107 were similar with those of the original strains. The P. putida KUD103, KUD106 and KUD202 had a little lower and P. putida KUD108 had a better degradative abilitie than those of the original ones. In the case of mixed cultures, the mixed culture of KUD107 and KUD108 had a better degradative abilities than those of the other mixed cultures.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine whether vitamin B6(B6) deficiency affects fuel utilization and blood cholesterol profile with exercise-training. Twenty-four rats were fed a B6 deficient(-B6) diet or a control (+B6) diet for 5 weeks and either exercised(EX) or nonexercised (NE). EX rats were exercised on treadmill(10$^{\circ}$, 0.5-0.8km/h) for 20 minutes everyday. Glucose(GLU), glycogen (GLY), protein(PRO), trglyceride(TG), free fatty acid(FFA), total cholesterl(TC), HDL-cholesterol(HDL-C) and LDL-choleterol(LDL-C) were compared in plasma(P), liver(L) and skeletal muscle(M) of rats. There was a vitamin effect on the level of P-GLU, P-TG, M-TG, L-GLY, L-PRO and an exercise effect on the level of P-PRO, P-FFA, M-PRO, L-GLY, L-TG, P-TC, P-HDL-C, P-LDL-C. Compared to +B6 rats were lower and there were no differences in P-GLU, P-FFA, P-TG. M-GLY, L-TG, P-TC and P-HDL-C. In EX group, the level of P-TG was higher and M-PRO was lower in -B6 rats. There were no differences in M-GLY, L-TG, P-TC and P-HDL-C. These results suggest that a lowered intake of vitamin B6 may impair the adaptation of animals to fuel metabolism related to a decrease of fatty acid oxidation and attenuates the exercise-traning effect on blood lipid profile.

  • An interest-based P2P constructs the peer connections based on similarities for efficient search of resources. A clustering technique using peer similarities as data is an effective approach to group the most relevant peers. However, the separation of groups produced from clustering lowers the scalability of a P2P network. Moreover, the interest-based approach is only concerned with user-level grouping where topology-awareness on the physical network is not considered. This paper proposes an efficient scalable search for the interest-based P2P system. A scalable multi-ring (SMR) based on fuzzy clustering handles the grouping of relevant peers and the proposed scalable search utilizes the SMR for scalability of peer queries. In forming the multi-ring, a minimized route function is used to determine the shortest route to connect peers on the physical network. Performance evaluation showed that the SMR acquired an accurate peer grouping and improved the connectivity rate of the P2P network. Also, the proposed scalable search was efficient in finding more replicated files throughout the peer network compared to other traditional P2P approaches.
