Purpose : The objectives of this study was to evaluate the correlations between the indices of insulin sensitivity using fasting glucose and insulin level, and the body fat mass measured by bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA) and dual energy X-ray absorptiometry(DEXA), and to determine the clinical usefulness of insulin sensitivity indices when obese children were followed up. Methods : In this study, 28 simple obese children and adolescents were included. Anthropometric data including body weight, height, obesity degree(OD), body mass index(BMI), and waist-to-hip ratio were collected and then body fat mass was measured by using BIA and DEXA. For metabolic data, 12 hour fasting serum glucose, insulin and lipid profiles were measured and indices for insulin sensitivity(G/I ratio, $log_{insulin}$, HOMA-IR, $log_{HOMA-IR}$, QUICKI) were calculated. Results : BMI had a higher correlation with insulin sensitivity indices than OD(G/I ratio, -0.463 vs -0.209; $log_{insulin}$, 0.417 vs 0.196; HOMA-IR, 0.301 vs 0.238; $log_{HOMA-IR}$, 0.403 vs 0.198; QUICKI, -0.451 vs -0.224). But OD had a higher correlation with body fat mass measured by BIA and DEXA than BMI(BIA, 0.612 vs 0.316; DEXA, 0.667 vs 0.512). The G/I ratio was correlated with body fat mass in BIA(r=-0.420, P<0.05) and DEXA(r=-0.512, P<0.01), percentage of body fat(percentage of fat) in BIA(r=-0.366, P<0.05) and DEXA(r=-0.449, P<0.01). HOMA-IR was only correlated with body fat mass in DEXA(r=0.341, P<0.05). Conclusion : This study revealed that G/I ratios had a statistically significant correlation with anthropometric obesity indices(OD and BMI) and also had a correlation with both body fat mass and percentage of fat. These results suggest that G/I ratios could be used as useful index when obese children and adolescence are followed up.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the differences in patients with positional dependent sleep apnea according to their non-supine apnea-hypopnea index (AHI, ${\geq}5$ vs. <5). Methods: 92 patients with positional sleep apnea were evaluated. The patients were divided into two groups : group I was non-supine AHI having ${\geq}5$ ; group II was non-supine AHI having less than 5. Statistical analysis was performed to find the difference between two groups. Results: In 92 patients, the number of group I patients was 11 (12%) and the number of group II patients was 81 (88%). In the severe AHI group, percentage of group I was dominated (70%) and showing a significant difference compared with the mild and moderate AHI groups (p<.05). In the severe body mass index (BMI) group, percentage of group I was dominated (54.5%) and showing a significant difference compared with of the mild and moderate BMI groups (p<.05). The percentage of group I was significantly higher than group II (p<.05) in the AHI, supine AHI, non-supine AHI and snore time. Conclusions: In patients with positional sleep apnea, severe OSA and high BMI are more common in patients with non-supine AHI${\geq}5$ than non-supine AHI<5.

The purpose of present study was to compare the sedative effect of chloral hydrate and oral midazolam treatment. The study was conducted on twenty two child patients who required at least two visits. All the patients showed a good physical status (ASA-I). The patient was randomly assigned to receive drug either chloral hydrate 60mg/kg and hydroxyzine 25mg(Group I) or midazolam 0.5mg/kg and hydroxyzine 25mg(Group II) at each visit. Treatment procedures were divided into six stages. In each stage, sleep, crying, movement and overall behavior score were evaluated. The overall results can be summarized as follows: 1. Success rate was 59.9% in group I and was 77.8% in Group II. 2. Mean sleep score was $1.81{\pm}0.93$ in group I and was $1.44{\pm}0.69$ in group II (P<0.05). 3. Through all treatment procedures, no significant difference was observed between group I and group II in terms of crying, movement and overall behavior score(P>0.05). 4. There was no significant difference between the sex and the age(P>0.05). In regard to above results, oral midazolam considered to be a valuable drug as sedative agent in pediatric dentistry.
In this study, we propose an approximate method to make Jisuguimundo with magic number 93 to 109. In this method, for two numbers p, q with a relationship of M = 2p+q, we use eight pairs of two numbers with sum p and five pairs of two numbers with sum q. Such numbers must be between 1 and 30. Instead of determining all positions of thirty numbers, this method shows that Jisuguimundo with magic number 93 to 109 can be made by determining positions of thirteen numbers $a_i$(i = 1, 2, ${\cdots}$, 8), $b_5$, $c_i$(i = 1, 2, 3, 4). Method 1 is used to make Jisuguimundo with magic number 93 to 108, and method 2 is used to make Jisuguimundo with magic number 109.
Purpose : Childhood Obesity is increasing throughout the world, and it is known to incur many diseases especially in later life such as diabetes and cardiovascular disorders. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between obesity and insulin, insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3(IGFBP-3) and know if these factors are useful in predicting cardiovascular diseases. Methods : The study group consisted of 64 moderate and severe obese adolescents and the controls were normal adolescents of the same age. body mass index(BMI) was calculated by height and weight; systolic and diastolic blood pressure was measured at resting state. After 10-hour fasting period, blood cholesterol, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein(HDL) cholesterol, low density lipoprotein(LDL) cholesterol, glucose, insulin, free fatty acid, IGF-I and IGFBP-3 were measured. Results : Insulin was significantly higher in the obese adolescent group than the control group(obese group $15.6{\pm}7.0{\mu}IU/mL$, P<0.01). IGF-I was also significantly higher in the obese adolescent group than the control group(obese group $498.1{\pm}122.2ng/mL$, P<0.05). In addition, IGFBP-3 was significantly higher in the obese adolescent group than the control group(obese group $3,777{\pm}4,721ng/mL$, P<0.05). Insulin showed significantly positive correlation with BMI(r=0.3944) and obesity index(r=0.34). IGFBP-3 were significantly correlated with obesity index(r=0.419), diastolic blood pressure (r=0.264) and BMI(r=0.247). Insulin resistance index significantly positive correlation with BMI(r=0.595), blood triglycerid level(r=0.515) and obesity index(r=0.469). Conclusion : Serum insulin, insulin resistance index, IGF-I and IGFBP-3 levels may be useful to predict cardiovascular diseases in adolescent obesity.
Objectives: This study aims to analyze the association between the severity of sleep apnea, sleep and mood related scales, and activity during sleep in obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) patients. Methods: 176 drug-free male patients confirmed as OSAS (average age=$43{\pm}11$ years) were selected through nocturnal polysomnography (NPSG). OSAS was diagnosed with apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) >5, mean AHI was $39.6{\pm}26.0$. Sleep related scales were Stanford Sleepiness Scale (SSS), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Morningness-Eveningness Scale (MES). Mood related scales were Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) I, II and Profile of Mood States (POMS). NPSG was performed overnight with both wrist actigraphy (WATG). Parameters produced from WATG were total activity score, mean activity score and fragmentation index. We analyzed the correlation between each scale, AHI scored from NPSG and activity score analyzed from WATG. Results: ESS showed significant positive correlation with PSQI, BDI, BAI and STAI I, II, respectively (p<0.01). SSS showed significant positive correlation with PSQI and BAI (p<0.05, p<0.01). BAI showed significant positive correlation with total activity score, mean activity score and fragmentation index (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.05).Total activity score showed significant positive correlation with ESS and BAI, respectively (p<0.05). Fragmentation index showed significant positive correlation with ESS, PSQI and BAI (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.05). AHI, indicator of sleep apnea is showed no significant correlation with each sleep and mood related scale. Conclusion: The degree of daytime sleepiness tends to be associated with night sleep satisfaction, depression and anxiety, and the activity during sleep rather than the severity of sleep apnea.
Purpose: Gastric emptying scan (GES) is usually acquired up to 2 hours. Our study investigated whether a fraction of meal-retention in the stomach at 120 minutes (FR120) was predicted from the data measured for 90 minutes by using non-linear curve fitting. We aimed at saving the delayed imaging by utilizing mathematical models. Materials and Methods: Ninety-six patients underwent GES immediately after taking a boiled egg with 74 MBq (2 mCi) Tc-99m DTPA. The patients were divided into Group I ($T_{1/2}\;{\leq}90\;min$) and Group II ($90\;min). Group I (n=51) had 21 men and 30 women, and Group II (n=45) 15 men and 30 women. There was no significant difference in age and sex between the two groups. Simple exponential, power exponential, and modified power exponential curves were acquired from the measured fraction of meal-retention at each time (0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 min) by non-linear curve fitting ($MATLAB^{\circledR}$ 5.3) and another simple exponential fitting was performed on the fractions at late times (60, 75, and 90 min). A predicted FR120 was calculated from the acquired functional formulas. A correlation coefficient between the measured FR120 and the predicted FR120 was computed ($MedCalc^{\circledR}$ 6.0). Results: Correlation coefficients(r) between the measured FR120 and the predicted FR120 of each mathematical functions were as follows: simple exponential function (Group I: 0.8558, Group II: 0.5982, p<0.0001), power exponential function (Group I: 0.8755, Group II: 0.6008, p<0.0001), modified power exponential function (Group I: 0.8892, Group II: 0.5882, p<0.0001), and simple exponential function at the late times(Group I: 0.9085, Group II: 0.6832, p<0.0001). In all the fitting models, the predicted FR120 were significantly correlated with the measured FR120 in Group I but not in Group II. There was no statistically significant difference in correlation among the 4 mathematical models. Conclusion: In the cases with $T_{1/2}\;{\leq}90\;min$, the predicted FR120 is significantly correlated with the measured FR120. Therefore, FR120 can be predicted from the data measured for 90 minutes by using non-linear curve fitting, saving the delayed imaging after 90 minutes when $T_{1/2}\;{\leq}90\;min$ is ascertained.

The present study was undertaken to develop the in vitro sunprotection factor(SPF) measurement method having good correlation with in vivo method. As in vitro method, 8% homomentyl salicylate, P3 reference standard and sunscreens on market were measured using SPF 290 analyzer and were compared the SPF with labed value. In vitro SPF of 8% HMS and P3 reference standard were 4.59 $\pm$ 0.12 and 14.94 $\pm$ 0.83. There are good correlation, correlation factor were 0.9506 and 0.9769 respectively, between the in vitro and in vivo SPF for the sunscreen creams and lotions examined. Correlation factors of makeup base & liquid goundation, lotion labled with “shake before use”, compact powder were 0.8812, 0.8632 and 0.5984. The best sample applied method of compact powder was 1:0.8 mixture with cream base. These results suggest that the in vitro test method could be used as an alternative method for SPF.

We summarize the password-based authetication protocol K1P which was introduced in our easlier papers [1,2] and then propose three more extended protocols. These protocols preserve a design concept of K1P, i.e., security and efficiency, and canbe used for various purposes. They are a One-time key K1P, a Client public key K1P, and an Exponential key exchange K1P.
Abstract-Using a high resolution low energy electron diffraction(HRLEED), we report an exponent study of 2d continuous phase transition from an ordered ~ ( 2 x 1 )ox ygen overlayer on a W(110) surface. Temperature dependence of a (% 0) superlattice diffraction spot, characteristic of the p(2X 1) structure, shows power-law like divergence of the susceptibility and the fluctuation correlation length at T,=708.765 K. By fitting the intensities as well as the line-shapes, we obtained exponents P=0.19* 0.05, y=1.48+ 0.34, v= 1.23i 0.27 and q=0.38+ 0.12. The non-universal character of the exponents are understood in terms of a 2d XY model with cubic anisotropy as suggested previously.
