Harnack Estimate for Positive Solutions to a Nonlinear Equation Under Geometric Flow

  • In the present paper, we obtain gradient estimates for positive solutions to the following nonlinear parabolic equation under general geometric flow on complete noncompact manifolds $$\frac{{\partial}u}{{\partial}t}={\Delta}u+a(x,t)u^p+b(x,t)u^q$$ where, 0 < p, q < 1 are real constants and a(x, t) and b(x, t) are functions which are C2 in the x-variable and C1 in the t-variable. We shall get an interesting Harnack inequality as an application.

들깨잎 폴리페놀 산화효소의 pH 및 온도에 의한 영향 (Influence of Ph and Temperature on Polyphenol Oxidase in the Leaves of Perilla frutescens var. japonica)

  • Polyphenol oxidase-catalyzed oxidation of substrates (t-butylcatechol, 4-methylcatechol, chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and pyrocatechol) were performed in the Ph range 4~8. Co ncentrations of substrate's major oxidation products were monitored by high performance liquid chromatograph. The nature and amounts of products formed were highly pH dependent. They also were ifluenced by kinds of substrates. Major oxidation product of 4-methylcatechol appeared the maxium value at pH 5, them of chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid and pyrocatechol at pH 6.0 and that of t-butylcatechol at pH 5~7. Time-dependent PPO activity was determined at $4^{\circ}C\;and\;30^{\circ}C$. PPO extracted by phosphate buffer containing triton X-114 (t-PPO) was more stable than PPO by phosphate buffer (b-PPO). The result of electrophoresis, at first PPO was showed only a band at 48 kd. After 1~3 days a partial degrade band was appeared in b-PPO and three partial degrade bands in t-PPO. No activity band was appeared in PPOs at $30^{\circ}C$ and b-PPO at $4^{\circ}C$ after 4 days. And a band (37 kDa) in t-PPO was remained finally and disappered. PPO from Perillae leaves has two activity bands at 48 and 37 kDa in previous paper. It was supposed that PPO in the leaves of Perilla frutescens was a protein having one molecular weight as 48 kDa. And 37 kDa protein, relatively proteolysis-resistant, was a proteolyzed form of a major form.

파프리카온실에서 담배가루이의 이항표본조사법 개발 (Development of a Binomial Sampling Plan for Bemisia tabaci in Paprika Greenhouses)

  • 경남 진주시 대곡면에 위치한 파프리카(Capsicum annuum var. angulosum) 온실에 피해를 주는 해충인 담배가루이(Bemisia tabaci) 성충과 번데기의 밀도를 엽 당 해충 수로 2014년 조사하였다. 이항표본조사법은 엽 당 담배가루이 성충과 번데기의 밀도(m)와 담배가루이 성충과 번데기가 T마리보다 많이 존재하는 잎의 비율($P_T$)과의 관계를 기본으로 하며, T는 경험적 이항분포모형$(({\ln}(m)={\alpha}+{\beta}({\ln}(-{\ln}(1-P_T))))$에서의 tally threshold로서 본 연구에서는 성충의 경우 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 그리고 번데기는 1, 3, 5, 7을 사용하였다. 표본수 증감은 T와 관계없이 이항분포 모형의 정확도에 영향이 거의 없었다. 이항분포모형의 정확도는 성충의 경우 T=1 일 때, 번데기의 경우 T=3일 때 가장 높았으며, 최적의 tally threshold인 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 분석에 사용하지 않은 독립된 자료를 이용하여 개발된 표본조사법의 유효성을 Resampling Validation for Sampling Plan (RVSP) 프로그램으로 평가하였다. 그 결과 파프리카 온실에서 담배가루이 성충과 번데기의 밀도추정에는 T=1 (담배가루이 성충), T=3 (담배가루이 용)인 경우가 적합한 것으로 판단되었다.

T-786C, G894T, and Intron 4 VNTR (4a/b) Polymorphisms of the Endothelial Nitric Oxide Synthase Gene in Bladder Cancer Cases

  • The aim of the present study was to determine whether endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene polymorphisms play a role in development of bladder cancer in the Turkish population. The study was performed on 75 patients (64 men, 11 women) with bladder cancer and 143 healthy individuals (107 men, 36 women) with any kind of cancer history. Three eNOS gene polymorphisms (T-786C promoter region, G894T and intron 4 VNTR 4a/b) were determined with polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment lenght polymorphism methods. In our study, GT and TT genotypes for eNOS G894T polymorphism were found to significantly vary among patients with bladder cancer and control group (OR: 0.185, CI: 0.078-0.439, p=0.0001 and OR: 0.324, CI: 0.106-0.990, p=0.026). Also, the frequency of the 894T allele was significantly higher in patients with bladder cancer (51%). No association was identified for eNOS T-786C and intron 4 VNTR 4a/b polymorphisms between patients with bladder cancer and control groups in our Turkish population.

농축물의 Benzo($a$)pyrene 함량 측정을 위한 전처리 방법의 개선 (Improving Method of Pre-treatment for Detection Benzo($a$)pyrene Contents in Concentrates)

  • I assessed the B($a$)P content from the Ginseng extract, Red ginseng extract, and Ssangwha extract which have high viscosities. It wasn't easy to extract oil from these samples, consequently measuring of B($a$)P was difficult. In order to know the exact detecting contents, I injected standard material of B($a$)P to the above extractions and pre-treated for measurement but it was also difficult to measure of contents exactly. To improve of detecting method, I removed mucinous materials using a 85% phosphoric acid solution or 10% citric acid solution and then processed continuously with $60^{\circ}C$ hot water. The analysis revealed that extracting the samples contained B($a$)P determined the rate of each 70%, 55%, 67% could increase. As a result the detecting method of B($a$)P contents could be improved.

We prove that the maximal operator $M_p$ belongs to the Muckenhoupt class $A_1$.

Influence of Ionizing Radiation on Ovarian Carcinoma SKOV-3 Xenografts in Nude Mice under Hypoxic Conditions

  • Purpose: We aimed to detect the expression of HIF-1${\alpha}$, VEGF, HPSE-1 and CD31 in SKOV3 xenografts in nude mice treated with different doses of ionizing radiation, trying to explore the possible mechanism of hypoxia and radioresistance. Methods: Nude mice bearing SKOV3 xenografts were randomly divided into 4 groups: Group A (control group, no ionizing radiation), Group B (treated with low dose of ionizing radiation: 50cGy), Group C (treated with high dose of ionizing radiation: 300cGy), Group D ( combined ionizing radiation, treated with ionizing radiation from low dose to high dose : 50cGy first and 300cGy after 6h interval). The mRNA levels of HIF-1 and VEGF in each group were detected by real time polymerase chain reaction, while HPSE-1 expression was measured by ELISA. The microvessel density (MVD) and hypoxic cells were determined through immunohistochemical (IHC) staining of CD31 and HIF-1a. Results: Significant differences of HIF-1${\alpha}$ mRNA level could be found among the 4 groups (F=74.164, P<0.001): Group C>Group A>Group D> Group B. The mRNA level of VEGF in Group C was significantly higher than in the other three groups (t=-5.267, P=0.000), while no significant difference was observed among Group A, B and D (t=1.528, 1.588; P=0.205, 0.222). In addition, the MVD was shown to be the highest in Group C (t=6.253, P=0.000), whereas the HPSE-1 level in Group A was lower than in Group B (t=14.066, P=0.000) and higher than in Group C (t=-21.919, P=0.000), and similar with Group D (t=-2.066, P=0.058). Through IHC staining of HIF-1a, the expression of hypoxic cells in Group A was (++), Group B was (+), Group C was (+++) and Group D was (+). Conclusion: Ionizing radiation with lowerdoses might improve tumor hypoxia through inhibiting the expression of HIF-1 and HPSE-1, whereas higherdoses worsen tumor hypoxic conditions by up-regulating HIF-1${\alpha}$, HPSE-1, VEGF and CD31 levels. A protocol of low-dose ionizing radiation followed by a high-dose irradiation might at least partly improve tumor hypoxia and enhance radiosensitivity.

인진쑥 급여가 성별에 따른 육성-비육기 돈육의 도체 및 육질특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Dietary Mugwort Powder on Carcass and Meat Quality Characteristics of Gilt and Barrow in Growing-Finishing Period)

  • 본 연구에서는 인진쑥의 건조 분말을 육성기-비육기의 거세돈 및 암퇘지(LY×D)의 평균체중이 50.37kg일 때부터 출하시까지 90일간 처리하였을 때 도체특성, 일반성분, 콜레스테롤 함량, 육질특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 실시하였다. 일반사료에 인진쑥 분말을 급여사료 기준으로 C(0%), T1(0.5%), T2(1.0%), T3(1.5%) 처리하였다. 도체중의 경우 T2 및 T3의 증체량이 대조구보다 유의적으로 높게 나타났으나(p<0.05), 등지방 두께 및 도체 등급의 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 수분, 지방, 회분, 콜레스테롤 함량은 시험구간의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았으나(p>0.05), T2 및 T3의 단백질 함량이 대조구보다 유의적으로 높은 값을 나타내었다(p<0.05). pH, WHC, 가열감량신선육 및 지방의 전단가의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다(p>0.05). 육색 및 지방의 백색도(CIE L*)는 T2 및 T3가 유의적으로 높게 나타났으나(p<0.01), 육색 및 지방의 적색도(CIE a*) 및 황색도(CIE b*)가 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았으며(p>0.05), 전단가의 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았다(p>0.05).

Pork Quality Traits According to Postmortem pH and Temperature in Berkshire

  • This study was performed to investigate the role of pH and temperature postmortem, and to demonstrate the importance of these factors in determining meat quality. Postmortem pH45min (pH at 45 min postmortem or initial pH) via analysis of Pearson’s correlation showed high positive correlation with pH change pHc24 (pH change from pH45min to pH24h postmortem). However, postmortem pH after 24 h (pH24h or ultimate pH) had a high negative correlation with pH change, pHc24, CIE L*, and protein content. Initial temperature postmortem (T1h ) was positively associated with a change in temperature from 45 min to 24 h postmortem (Tc24) and cooking loss, but negatively correlated with water holding capacity. Temperature at 24 h postmortem (T24h) was negatively associated with Tc24. Collectively, these results indicate that higher initial pH was associated with higher pHc24, T1h, and Tc24. However, higher initial pH was associated with a reduction in carcass weight, backfat thickness, CIE a* and b*, water holding capacity, collagen and fat content, drip loss, and cooking loss as well as decreased shear force. In contrast, CIE a* and b*, drip loss, cooking loss, and shear force in higher ultimate pH was showed by a similar pattern to higher initial pH, whereas pHc24, carcass weight, backfat thickness, water holding capacity, fat content, moisture content, protein content, T1h, T24h, and Tc24 were exhibited by completely differential patterns (p<0.05). Therefore, we suggest that initial pH, ultimate pH, and temperatures postmortem are important factors in determining the meat quality of pork.

Fe-Al-Nb-B-(Cu)계 초미세결정합금의 자기적 특성 (Magnetic Properties of Ultrafine grained Fe-Al-Nb-B-(Cu) Alloys.)

  • 새로운 고성능 자심용 연자성 합금을 개발하기 위해, 급냉응고 방식에 의해 제조된 $Fe_{83-x}Al_{x}Nb_{5}B_{12}(X=1~5at%)$ 합금의 결정화거동 및 자기적 특성을 조사하였다. 3at% Al의 $Fe_{80}Al_{3}Nb_{5}B_{12}$ 합금이 조사된 Fe-Al-Nb-B계 합금중에서 가장 우수한 연자기 특성을 가지며, 이때 미세한 $\alpha-Fe$상 결정립 조직을 가지는 것으로 판명되었다. 또, 이 조성의 합금에 1 at%의 Cu를 첨가하면, 약 6~7 nm정도의 크기를 가지는 극히 미세한 결정립의 $\alpha-Fe$ 상조직이 얻어졌으며 이에 따라 대단히 현저한 연자기 특성의 향상이 실현되었다. 이때 초미세 결정구조 $Fe_{79}Al_{3}Nb_{5}B_{12}Cu_{1}$ 합금의 자기적 특성은 다음과 같다 : ${\mu}_{eff}(1\;kHz)=26,000,\;B_{10}=1.45\;T,\;H_{c}=25\;mOe,\;P_{c}(100\;kHz,\;0.2\;T)=55\;W/kg$.
