  • The performance of oxygen combustion with $CO_2$ feeding was investigated in a pyrex tube furnace. The inverse type multi-hole burner was used for improving mixing and wide operating range. It introduced oxygen, fuel, and oxygen, respectively, from center tube to outer tubes. Oxygen combustion characteristics with excess oxygen ratio, oxygen feeding ratio, and $CO_2$ feeding flow rate were studied to optimize the operating condition and to apply the oxygen combustion with recirculation of flue gas to a real furnace. This paper presents results on the effect of $CO_2$ feeding flow rate on the structure of the flames and concentrations of NO and CO emissions. The visible flame length was shortest due to well mixing between fuel and oxygen when the oxygen feeding ratio was 0.25. The NO emission was reduced drastically regardless of excess oxygen ratio when the $CO_2$ feeding flow rate was larger than 15 lpm. The CO emission is varied by changing the $CO_2$ feeding flow rate but the CO emission characteristics is highly affected by excess oxygen ratio. When the excess oxygen ratio is below $\lambda=1.1$, the CO emission increased as the $CO_2$ feeding flow rate increased.

  • The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the mixed flow behaviors and oxygen transfer characteristics of a vertical orifice ejector. The experimental apparatus consisted of an electric motor-pump, an orifice ejector, a circulation water tank, an air compressor, a high speed camera unit and control or measurement accessories. The mass ratio was calculated using the measured primary flow rate and suction air flow rate with experimental parameters. The visualization images of vertically injected mixed jet issuing from the orifice ejector were qualitatively analyzed. The volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient was calculated using the measured dissolved oxygen concentration. At a constant primary flow rate, the mass ratio and oxygen transfer coefficient increase with the air pressure of compressor. At a constant air pressure of the compressor, the mass ratio decreases and the oxygen transfer coefficient increases as the primary flow rate increases. The residence time and dispersion of fine air bubbles and the penetration of mixed flow were found to be important parameters for the oxygen transfer rate owing to the contact area and time of two phases.

  • We have investigated the effects of oxygen flow ratios on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of AlN thin films grown by using radio-frequency reactive magnetron sputtering. The AlN thin films were deposited at $300^{\circ}C$ of substrate temperature, and the reactive gas were supplied with both nitrogen and oxygen. The oxygen flow ratio was varied by controlling the amount of oxygen with respect to the total mixed gases, 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of the deposited AlN thin films were examined by using X-ray diffractometer, scanning electron microscopy, and ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer. The AlN thin film grown at 10% of oxygen flow ratio indicated an average transmittance of 91.3% in the wavelength range of 350~1,100 nm and an optical band gap of 4.30 eV. The experimental results suggest that AlN thin films can be deposited optionally by varying the oxygen flow ratio.

  • Al-doped ZnO (AZO) thin films were grown on glass substrates by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering. The effects of oxygen flow ratio, which was used for a sputtering gas, on the AZO thin films were investigated by using the X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and Hall effects measurement. The AZO thin film, deposited with oxygen flow ratio of 0% at the growth temperature of $400^{\circ}C$, showed a strongly c-axis preferred orientation and the lowest resistivity of $6.9{\times}10^{-4}{\Omega}cm$. The ZnO (002) diffraction peak indicated a tendency to decrease substantially with increasing the oxygen flow ratio. Furthermore, as the oxygen flow ratio was decreased, the carrier concentration and the hall mobility were increased, but the electrical resistivity was decreased.

  • The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the mixed flow and oxygen transfer characteristics of a horizontally injected aeration process using an annular nozzle ejector. The flow rate ratio, pressure ratio and ejector efficiency are calculated using the measured flow rate and pressure with the experimental parameters of the ejector pitch and primary flow rate. The visualization images of mixed flow issuing from the ejector are analyzed qualitatively, and the volumetric oxygen transfer coefficients are calculated using the measured dissolved oxygen concentration. The mixed flow behaves like a buoyancy jet or horizontal jet owing to the momentum of primary flow and air bubble size. The buoyancy force of the air bubble and the penetration of mixed flow are found to be important parameters for the oxygen transfer rate owing to the contact area and time of two phases.

  • The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the quantitative pollutants reduction by oxygen enrichment and induced air effect in venturi type after-burner. For this purpose, CO, $CO_2$, $O_2$. and HC concentrations were measured before and after the after-burner by changing the Oxygen flow rate and area ratio which is defined as the ratio of air inducing area divided by total area. As results of this study, when the area ratio were increased, the emission reduction effect was increased even less oxygen flow rate. In that case when oxygen was injected too little, the pollutants were increased.

  • Indium oxide $(In_2O_3)$ thin films have been prepared on glass substrate by using radio-frequency reactive magnetron sputtering with changing the oxygen flow ratio. The substrate temperature was kept at a fixed value of $400^{\circ}C$, and the sputtering gas and reactive gas were supplied with argon and oxygen, respectively. The oxygen partial flow ratio was varied by controlling the amount of oxygen with respect to the total mixed gases, 10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, and 50%. The optical, electrical, and structural properties of the deposited thin films were investigated by using ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectrophotometer, Hall measurement, and X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy. The $In_2O_3$ thin film deposited at 20% of oxygen flow ratio showed an average transmittance of 86% in the wavelength range of 430~1,100 nm, an electrical resistivity of $1.1{\times}10^{-1}{\Omega}cm$. The results show that the transparent conducting films with optimum conditions can be achieved by controlling the oxygen flow ratio.

  • An oxygen sensor installed in vehicle exhaust systems enables to measure the amount of oxygen in the exhaust gas, in which the measured data are collected and analyzed in ECU(Engine Control Unit). The oxygen sensor is exposed to the high speed exhaust gas at high temperature circumstance, so that protection caps are required not only to protect the susceptible measuring part, but also to provide the real time measurement without time delay. In this study, a new oxygen sensor with one protection cap was proposed, and the CFD analysis was carried out in order to compare the performance characteristics, such as flow speed and ratio of AOA(Age of Air), for the conventional and new oxygen sensor. The numerical results of CFD analysis provided the flow speed of 1.34m/s and the ratio of AOA of 3.43. The similar features obtained from the numerical results showed that the new oxygen sensor guarantees the same performance characteristics of the conventional ones.

  • Entrained coal gasification tests with Datong coal were performed to assess the influence of oxygen/coal ration and pressure. When gasification condition in oxygen/coal ratio has changed from 0.5 to 1.0, optimal gasification condition from low pressure runs was oxygen/coal ratio of approximately 0.9 where CO was produced about 40% and H, about 20%. Under the pressure condition of 12-14 atmospheres, optimal oxygen/coal ratio value was in the region of 0.6 where CO was produced about 55% and H2about 25%. From these results, it was found that the oxygen/ coal ratio for the maximum production of CO and H, was decreasing with the increase in gasifier pressure and also, with increasing oxygen content, carbon conversion was increased. For the Chinese Datong coal, cold gas efficiency was in the range of 40-80%.
