소화탈리액 대상 오존 전처리와 Ultra Violet-Advanced Oxidation Process 연계 처리를 통한 유기물질 지표 개선 (Improvement of Organic Substances Indicators by Linked Ultra Violet-Advanced Oxidation Process After Ozonation for Anaerobic Digested Wastewater)

  • Bioreactors are devices used by sewage treatment plants to process sewage and which produce active sludge, and sediments separated by solid-liquid are treated in anaerobic digestion tanks. In anaerobic digestion tanks, the volume of active sludge deposits is reduced and biogas is produced. After dehydrating the digestive sludge generated after anaerobic digestion, anaerobic digested wastewater, which features a high concentration of organic matters, is generated. In this study, the decomposition of organic carbon and nitrogen was studied by advanced oxidation process. Ozone-microbubble flotation process was used for oxidation pretreatment. During ozonation, the TOC decreased by 11.6%. After ozone treatment, the TOC decreased and the removal rate reached 80.4% as a result of the Ultra Violet-Advanced Oxidation Process (UV-AOP). The results with regard to organic substances before and after treatment differed depending on the organic carbon index, such as CODMn, CODCr, and TOC. Those indexes did not change significantly in ozone treatment, but decreased significantly after the UV-AOP process as the linkage treatment, and were removed by up to 39.1%, 15.2%, and 80.4%, respectively. It was confirmed that biodegradability was improved according to the ratio of CODMn to TOC. As for the nitrogen component, the ammonia nitrogen component showed a level of 3.2×102 mg/L or more, and the content was maintained at 80% even after treatment. Since most of the contaminants are removed from the treated water and its transparency is high, this water can be utilized as a resource that contains high concentrations of nitrogen.

Initial oxidation process on viinal Si(001) surface: ReaxFF based on molecular dynamics simulation

  • Si oxidation is a key process in developing silicon devices, such as highly integrated metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) transistors and antireflection-coating (ARC) on solar cell substrate. Many experimental and theoritical studies have been carried out for elucidating oxidation processes and adsorption structure using ab initio total energy and electronic structure calcultaions. However, the initial oxidation processes at step edge on vicinal Si surface have not been studied using the ReaxFF reactive force field. In this work, strucutural change, charge distribution of oxidized Si throughout the depth from Si surface were observed during oxidation processes on vicinal Si(001) surface inclined by $10.5^{\circ}$ of miscut angle toward [100]. Adsorption energys of step edge and flat terrace were calculated to compare the oxidation reaction at step edge and flat terrace on Si surface.

  • Hot-rolled steel plates of SPHC and SS400 were oxidized at 600, 750 and $900^{\circ}C$ for 2hr in air. With an increase in oxidation temperature, their oxidation rates increased, being accompanied with formation of pores and cracks in the thickened oxide scales that were non-adherent. The SPHC steels that were manufactured by either the arc furnace or the blast furnace displayed similar oxidation rates, indicating that their oxidation rates were insensitive to the manufacturing processes. The medium-carbon SS400 steel displayed a little faster oxidation rates than the low-carbon SS400 steel, indicating that the carbon content did not significantly influence the oxidation rates.

  • We propose a mechanism for the formation of pinholes in the Si-buffer layer, through the observations with varying the process- and structure variables in the SEPOX (selective poly-oxidation) process, an isolation method for sub-u DRAMs. Pinholes are formed through the accumulation of Si vacancies generated by the oxidation of Si, in which Si atoms leave the sites (vacancies) at the Si/SiO$_{2}$ interfaces and diffuse into the oxide to be oxidized near interface. In the course of the accumulation of Si-vacancies, the stress induced in the Si-buffer layer affects the migration of vacancies to result in the final size and distribution of pinholes. This paper may be, to our knowledge, the first report about the oxidation-induced pinhole in the Si/SiO$_{2}$ system.

펜톤산화와 오존산화 조합에 따른 염색폐수의 유기물질 및 색도 처리효율 비교 평가에 관한 연구 (Eveluation of Comparable Removal Efficiency of Organics and Color for the Dyeing Wastewater by Fenton Oxidation and Ozonation)

  • Dyeing wastewater contains recalcitrant organics which can not be easily treated by conventional biological treatment. Therefore it has to be treated by other advanced oxidation process in order to remove COD and Color more efficiently. Fenton oxidation process is one of the most commonly applied processes in removal of COD and color for the dyeing wastewater. However it increase the treatment cost and the production of sludge by the use of the excessive chemical reagent. Ozonation is not suitable in Single treatment process because it is not effective in organics removal compared with Color removal. The purpose of this research in order to evaluate the comparable removal efficiency of COD and color by the combination of advanced oxidation processes for the dyeing wastewater. The sequential treatment processes of Fenton process and ozonation was more effective to remove organics and color than ozonation and Fenton process. The result of Fenton process for the pretreatment presented as the 81% removal of organics whereas ozonation process for the pretreatent presented as the 22.1% removal of organics. The removal of colour was higher as 81.3% for the ozonation as the pretreatment than 77.7% for the Fenton process as the pretreatment.

난분해성 후렉소잉크 폐수중 유기물 및 색도제거를 위한 철촉매 공기산화 공정의 적용 (Application of Iron-Catalyzed Air Oxidation Process for Organics and Color Removals in Recalcitrance Flexographic Inks Wastewater)

  • The oxidation processes of metal catalysis were practically applied into the flexographic inks wastewater treatment to derive the most effective and economical system among all the processes of iron-salts coagulation, iron-catalyzed air oxidation, and coagulation followed by biological treatment. The iron concentration and pH were optimized as $2.8{\times}10^{-3}mol$ and 5.5~6.0, respectively, for all the oxidation processes. At the optimal reaction conditions, the removal efficiencies of $TCOD_{Mn}$ and Color were as follows for the respective process: i) 75% $TCOD_{Mn}$ and 77% Color removals for iron-salts coagulation, ii) 91% TCODMn and 90% Color removals for iron-catalyzed air oxidation, iii) 74~92% $TCOD_{Mn}$ and 81~90% Color removals for coagulation followed by biological treatment. Based on the economical and technological aspects, iron-catalyzed air oxidation was confirmed as the most effective process in the treatment of industrial wastewater.

이중절연층 산화공정에서 플라즈마 산화시간에 따른 터널자기저항 효과 (Effect of Doubly Plasma Oxidation Time on TMR Devices)

  • 자성터널접합(magnetic tunnel junction: MTJ)소자의 AlO$_{x}$터널장벽 절연층을 플라즈마 산화법으로 2번에 나누어 금속증착.산화를 반복하여 만들어 보았다. 이중산화I그룹은 10A의 $\AA$의 Al 하부 절연막을 증착하고 산화시간을 10 s로 완성한 후 그 위에 13$\AA$의 Al을성막하고 50, 80, 120s간 산화시켜 완성한 절연막의 특성을 알아보았다. 이중산화II그룹은 10$\AA$봐 Al하부 절연막의 산화시간을 30~120 s간 달리하고 그 위에 13 $\AA$의 Al을 성막하고 210 s간 산화시켜 완성한 절연막의 특성을 알아보았다. 이중산화공정으로 제조된 시편은 전 실험범위에서 자기저항비(magnetoresistance: MR)는 27% 이상으로 우수하였고, 이는 13 $\AA$의 Al을 증착하고 한번만 산화시키는 통상의 단일산화에 비해 MR비가 우수하고 공정범위가 넓었다. 수직단면 투과전자현미경(transmission electron microscope: TEM)으로 미세구조를 확인한 결과 이중산화가 단일산화보다도 더 얇고 균일한 두께를 유지함을 알 수 있었다 X선광전자분석(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy: XPS)으로 확인한 결과 이중산화는 절연막층 하부 CoFe 자성층의 Fe의 산화를 방지하여, 결과적으로 단일산화법에 비해서 하부자성층의 산화를 방지하여 긴 산화시간 공정 범위에서도 우수한 MR비를 가질 수 있었다.

Chemical Strengthening Involving Outward Diffusion Process of Na+ Ion in Iron-containing Soda-lime Silicate Glass

  • The outward diffusion of $Na^+$ ions in iron-bearing soda lime silicate glass via oxidation heat treatment before the ion exchange process is artificially induced in order to increase the amount of ions exchanged during the ion exchange process. The effect of the addition process is analyzed through measuring the bending strength, the weight change, and the inter-diffusion coefficient after the ion exchange process. The glass strength is increased when the outward diffusion of $Na^+$ ions via oxidation heat treatment before the ion exchange process is added. For the glass subjected to the additional process, the weight change and diffusion depth increase compared with the glass not subjected to the process. The interdiffusion coefficient is also slightly increased as a result of the additional process.

Treatment of milking parlor wastewater containing tetracycline by magnetic activated sludge and contact oxidation process

  • Milking parlor wastewater contains not only high concentrations of organic compounds, but often animal antibiotics. To discharge the antibiotics to public water area cause problem of antibiotics resistant bacteria. Magnetic separation was applied into improvement of milking parlor wastewater treatment process. A new process, composed of a magnetic activated sludge (MAS) process and a contact oxidation (CO) process, was proposed in this study. This process was evaluated by the simulated milking parlor wastewater (4500 mg/L CODCr and 10 mg/L tetracycline) using a bench scale experimental setup. As a result, the process was able to removed 97% CODCr as well as 94% tetracycline. The MLVSS (mixed liquor volatile suspended solids) concentration of MAS was maintained at 12000 mg/L without excess sludge drawing. This process was considered to be useful as treatment process for milking parlor wastewater in which waste-milk including antibiotics is often discharged.

난분해성 산업폐수 처리를 위한 고도산화기술 (Advanced oxidation technologies for the treatment of nonbiodegradable industrial wastewater)

  • Industrial wastewater often contains a number of recalcitrant organic contaminants. These contaminants are hardly degradable by biological wastewater treatment processes, which requires a more powerful treatment method based on chemical oxidation. Advanced oxidation technology (AOT) has been extensively studied for the treatment of nonbiodegradable organics in water and wastewater. Among different AOTs developed up to date, ozonation and the Fenton process are the representative technologies that widely used in the field. Based on the traditional ozonation and the Fenton process, several modified processes have been also developed to accelerate the production of reactive radicals. This article reviews the chemistry of ozonation and the Fenton process as well as the cases of application of these two AOTs to industrial wastewater treatment. In addition, research needs to improve the cost efficiency of ozonation and the Fenton process were discussed.
