  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to suggest strategies and solutions for entering China in the tariff and non-tariff sectors of the cosmetic industry. Design/methodology/approach - This study analyzed the import tariff rate of cosmetics in China, and analyzed the export cost by actually interviewing the exporting companies to derive the economic effect of non-tariff measures. Findings - First, We proposed the use of the FTA business model (basic cosmetics), the use of Korea-China FTA tariffs (foam cleansing, toothpaste), and the use of APTA tariffs (perfume). Second, We proposed cooperation between the governments to facilitate customs clearance procedures and improvement of FTA awareness among corporate practitioners. Third, We proposed the expansion and support of the AEO MRA system and the expansion of Korea-China MOU conclusions regarding the certification system, and the international standardization of domestic licensing system and technical conditions. Fourth, We proposed the use of government-supported projects related to obtaining overseas certifications and overseas expansion through collaboration with the same industry. Research implications or Originality - HS3304 products excluded from the Korea-China FTA should take full advantage of the FTA business model. In addition, the non-tariff measure costs are fixed costs per year, so the ratio decreases as the number of exports and export volume increases.

  • Purpose - This research focuses on the analysis of logistics barriers in Korea, China and Japan facing the barriers of overseas-expanded manufacturers with other countries. With the tree countries are emerging as the biggest trade partners in Northeast Asia, their logistics barriers are applied with similar verification methods of preceding researches such as Carter(1997). Research design, data and methodology - Collecting the statistics data from the three countries' overseas-expanded manufacturers, t-verification was performed in order to analyze average value and verify any significance. Additionally, multiple regression analysis was used to analyze any influence on the relationship in Korean logistics barrier and Chinese and Japanese expansion to Korean market. Results - Statistics suggested that three countries' logistics barriers are significantly differentiated by each verification categories, and Korean barrier negatively affected Chinese and Japanese manufacturers coming into Korean market. Conclusions - As a result of multiple regression analysis of the influencing relationship between Korea's logistics barrier and Chinese and Japanese companies coming into Korean market, all of the Korean barriers are affecting the companies as an obstructive factor, and it is proved to be statistically meaningful. Therefore, in order to reduce Chinese and Japanese companies' cost burden, it is necessary that not only reasonable charge system and taxation support but also comprehensive measure establishment reduce Korea's logistics barriers. However, since this research has a limitation in samples and shows a period of 5 years in the three nations' trade barriers, continuous and complementary researches are necessary in order to develop certain objectivity.

  • The recent coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic has accelerated market growth by promoting opportunities and advancements in drug development and vaccine manufacturing. Despite the rapid expansion of the global bio market, South Korea's bio market holds a relatively small share. To address this, the government is implementing various strategies, including the establishment of bio clusters, to foster innovation and growth in the bio industry. This study focuses on Korea's HongNeung bio cluster and conducts a comparative analysis with the Boston Bio Cluster in the United States and the Biopolis in Singapore. By examining the development history, structure, and success factors of these clusters through three categories-infrastructure, internal components, and policies and systems-commonalities and differences among the clusters are analyzed. Subsequently, development strategies for the HongNeung bio cluster are proposed. For the HongNeung bio cluster to grow into a leading bio cluster, strong government support, expansion of innovative infrastructure, talent acquisition, and the implementation of customized policies such as strategic partnerships are necessary. Additionally, the establishment of active collaboration and exchange systems with overseas bio clusters is required.

However, Korea does not have any law to support policies or related projects to revitalize the research equipment industry. Therefore, there is an urgent need for legislation to support policies and projects for revitalizing research equipment industry. It is considered necessary to establish a separate special law for revitalizing the research equipment industry so that it can gain competitiveness in the global market of the research equipment industry. As we have seen, the necessary articles in the relevant laws should be specified so that various promotion policies can be developed to foster the research equipment industry. In order to promote the development of research equipment industry, there are three essential items to be specified in the law. First is research and development support, second is infrastructure development, and third is business incubation. The following contents should be included in each contents. • This study was conducted to derive policy measures such as fostering and supporting by examining the actual conditions of domestic startups. The subject of this study was the start-ups located in Seongnam-si, where Pangyo Techno Valley, which is the highest-level innovation cluster in Korea and is evaluated as a start-up mecca. Startups were defined as startups under 7 years old based on new technologies such as IT, BT, and CT, and the subjects of the study were selected. This can be seen as a step forward from previous research in that it embodies the concept of a startup that was previously abstract in a quantitatively measurable way. As a result of the analysis, about 94% of startups are distributed in the so-called "Death Valley" growth stage, and startups above scale-up, which means full-scale growth beyond BEP, account for about 6%. appeared to be occupied. He cited the problem of start-up funds as the biggest difficulty in the early stages of startups, and cited the loan evaluation method that prioritizes sales or collateral in raising funds as the biggest problem. In addition, start-ups rated the access to private investment capital such as VC, AC, and angel investors at a low level compared to policy funds, which are public funds. Most startups showed a lot of interest in overseas expansion, and they chose matching overseas investors such as overseas VCs as the biggest support for overseas expansion. The overall competitiveness in the overseas market was 49.6 points, which is less than 50 points out of 100, indicating that the overall competitiveness was somewhat inferior. It was analyzed that public support and investment in overseas sales channels (sales channels, distribution networks, etc.) should be prioritized along with enhancement of technological competitiveness in order for domestic startups to increase their competitiveness in overseas markets as well as in the domestic market.

  • As Indonesia is rich in natural resources, nuclear power remains a low priority among energy alternatives. However, Indonesia needs to introduce nuclear power to improve the atmospheric environment and to support sustainable economic growth. This study conducted a two-stage survey of logit-probit and analytic hierarchy process to analyze the perception of Indonesian energy policymakers regarding the introduction of nuclear power, the potential for change, and key decision factors. The analysis confirms that the perception of nuclear power is positive and that the willingness to expand nuclear power can improve if negative conditions, such as underdeveloped technology level, foreign aid and assistance, and safety issues are addressed. In addition, it is confirmed that the policy makers consider political/social and environmental factors to be more important for decision-making. The results of this study can give inplications and be used as a key reference for Indonesia's nuclear power policy
