For multiprocessor systems, Earliest Deadline First (EDF) based on deadline and Least Laxity First (LLF) based on laxity are not suitable for practical environment since EDF has low schedulability and LLF has high context switching overhead. As a combining of EDF and LLF to improve the performance, Earliest Deadline Zero Laxity (EDZL) was proposed. EDZL is basically the same as EDF. But if the laxity of a task becomes zero, its priority is promoted to the highest level. In this paper, we propose Least Laxity Zero Laxity (LLZL) which is based on LLF. But context switching is allowed only if the laxity of a task on rady queue becomes zero. Simulation results show that LLZL has high schedulability approaching to LLF and low context switching overhead similar to EDF. In comparison with EDZL, LLZL has better performance in both of schedulability and context switching overhead.
For real-time systems, multiprocessor support is indispensable to handle the large number of requests. Existing real-time on-line scheduling algorithms such as Earliest Deadline First Algorithm (EDF) and Least Laxity Algorithm (LLA) may not be suitable for scheduling real-time tasks in multiprocessor systems. Although EDF has low context switching overhead, it suffers from "multiple processor anomalies." LLA has been shown as suboptimal, but has the potential for higher context switching overhead. Earliest Deadline Zero Laxity (EDZL) solved somewhat the problems of those algorithms, however is suboptimal for only two processors. Another algorithm EDA2 shows very good performance in overload phase, however, is not suboptimal for muitiprocessors. We propose two on-line scheduling algorithms, Earliest Deadline/Least Laxity (ED/LL) and ED2/LL. ED/LL is suboptimal for multiprocessors, and has low context switching overhead and low deadline miss rate in normal load phase. However, ED/LL is ineffective when the system is overloaded. To solve this problem, ED2/LL uses ED/LL or EDZL in normal load phase and uses EDA2 in overload phase. Experimental results show that ED2/LL achieves good performance in overload phase as wet] as in normal load phase.oad phase.
ADSS(All Dielectirc Self-Supporting) cable installed under high voltage power cable line suffers a variety of environmental influence, rain, wind, snow fall, chemical pollution, salt fog and electrical stress. Its lifetime is required to be at least 20 years with this harsh weathering condition. The electrical stress under high voltage power line gives rise to dry band arcing and tracking, the severest damage, on the outer sheath of cable. Finally tracking might penetrate sheath and cause the break-down of ADSS cable. Tracking resistant sheath material, therefore, should be used to protect the core of ADSS from dry band arcing and to be sure long lifetime. In this work, we discuss various commercial tracking resistant material to investigate the way of track resistance and compare their mechanical, electrical, weathering and tracking properties through serial experiments. We found track resistant material is categorized into two main type : polyethylene with metal hydroxide and polyethylene with reduced carbon black. The Liquid contaminant, Inclined plane Tracking and Erosion test says the time to track of tracking resistant material with metal hydroxide has a little longer time to track in the high applied voltage than that with carbon black, but mechanical and weathering properties were inferior to.

In this paper, we propose a method that measures the height and stagger of an catenary using the laser profile images. One line laser and area scanner CCD cameras are used. To quickly and accurately extract, from a photographed image, the area of the overhead line on which the line laser is shone, we consider the established fact that the catenary is the lowest among the electric wires. Here we are solving the the distance to the catenary if we know the distance the camera is from the ground and the angle of the catenary in the field of view. The angle will be related to the number of pixels in the image. This pixels per degree is a constant for the camera. Also, because of the different pixel resolution of the camera according to the overhead line position, we compensate the measurement result through camera calibration.
NUMA systems have remote access caches(RAC) in each local node to reduce the overhead for repeated remote memory accesses. By this RAC, memory latency and network traffic can be reduced and the performance of the multiprocessor system can be improved. Until now, several cache replacement policies have been proposed in recent years, and there also is cache replacement policy for multiprocessor systems. In this paper, we propose a cache replacement policy which is based on cache line coherence information. In this policy, the cache line that does not have an ownership is replaced first with respect to cache line that has an ownership. Like this way, the overhead to transfer ownership is avoided and the memory latency can be decreased. We also propose “Keeping-Ownership replacement policy with MRU (KOM)” and “Keeping-Ownership replacement policy with Reference Bit(KORB)” to reduce the frequent replacement penalty of the ownership-lacking cache line. We compare and analyze these with LRU and Pseudo LRU(PLRU). The simulation shows that KOM outperforms the PLRU by 25%, and KORB outperforms the PLRU by 13%. Although the hardware cost of KOM is very small, the performance of KOM is nearly equal to that of the LRU.
This paper deals with a unified way for calculating vortex-induced vibrations (Aeolian vibrations in transmission line parlance) of undamped single overhead conductors. The main objective of the paper is to identify reduced parameters which would unify the predicted vibration response to the largest possible extent. This is actually done by means of a simple mathematical transformation resulting, for a given terrain (associated to a given wind turbulence intensity), into a single, unified response curve that is applicable to any single multi-layered aluminium conductor. In order to further validate the above process, the predicted, unified response curve is compared with measured response curves drawn from tests run on a full-scale test line using several aluminium-conductor-steel-reinforced (ACSR), all-alloy-aluminium-conductor (AAAC) and aluminium-conductor-alloy-reinforced (ACAR) conductors strung at different tensions. On account of the expected scatter in the results from such field tests, the agreement is shown to be good. The final results are expressed by means of only four different curves pertaining to four different terrain characteristics. These curves may then be used to assess the vibration response of any undamped single, multi-layer aluminium conductor of any diameter, strung at any practical tension.

The purpose of this paper is to minimize the a slack computation time of the scheduling of a soft aperiodic real-time tasks in a fixed priority real-time system. The proposed algorithm reduces the computation overhead at on-line time and supports the maximum slack time assigned for aperiodic real-time tasks. The proposed algorithm has 10~20% more response time for aperiodic real-time tasks than that of Slack Stealing Algorithm that offers optimal response time in fixed priority real-time system. However, the performance of the proposed algorithm is seven times better in a scheduling overhead.

This paper describes the fault location calculation using neuro-fuzzy systems in combined transmission lines with underground power cables. Neuro-fuzzy systems used in this paper are composed of two parts for fault section and fault location. First, neuro-fuzzy system discriminates the fault section between overhead and underground with normalized detail coefficient obtained by wavelet transform. Normalized detail coefficients of voltage and current in half cycle information are used for the inputs of neuro-fuzzy system. As the result of neuro-fuzzy system for fault section, impedance of selected fault section is calculated and it is used as the inputs of the neuro-fuzzy systems for fault location. Neuro-fuzzy systems for fault location also consist of two parts. One calculates the fault location of overhead, and the other does for underground. Fault section is completely classified and neuro-fuzzy system for fault location calculates the distance from the relaying point. Neuro-fuzzy systems proposed in this paper shows the excellent results of fault section and fault location.

The pulley-type tensioning device subjected to a maximum tension of 34 kN has been developed for 400 km/h high-speed railway. The tensioning device is to maintain the tension variation within 3% of the normal value, irregardless of temperature changes. Field tests shows that the tensioning device had a variation of tension which was as small as 0.6% as temperatures changed from $-5{\sim}7^{\circ}C$. Along with the tensions, we measured its X and Y movements due to the temperature changes. Based on a combination of its X and Y movements, we proposed a new performance index with which we can see if the tensioning device has troubles in operation without tension measurements.
Dynamic thermal rating of the overhead transmission lines is affected by many uncertain factors. The ambient temperature, wind speed and wind direction are the main sources of uncertainty. Measurement uncertainty is an important parameter to evaluate the reliability of measurement results. This paper presents the uncertainty analysis based on Monte Carlo. On the basis of establishing the mathematical model and setting the probability density function of the input parameter value, the probability density function of the output value is determined by probability distribution random sampling. Through the calculation and analysis of the transient thermal balance equation and the steady- state thermal balance equation, the steady-state current carrying capacity, the transient current carrying capacity, the standard uncertainty and the probability distribution of the minimum and maximum values of the conductor under 95% confidence interval are obtained. The simulation results indicate that Monte Carlo method can decrease the computational complexity, speed up the calculation, and increase the validity and reliability of the uncertainty evaluation.
