빅 히스토리(거대사)는 빅뱅부터 생명과 인류의 등장, 그리고 문명에 이르기까지 인문학과 자연과학을 모두 아우르는 융합 학문분야로, 최근 들어 중등 및 고등 교육기관 교육자들의 관심을 차츰 받고 있는 분야이다. 미국에서는 현재 빌 게이츠의 지원 아래 '빅 히스토리 프로젝트'를 운영하며 중등학교 교사들이 이용할 수 있는 자료를 구축하고 제공하는 등 활발한 교육 및 연구가 이루어지고 있지만, 아직 우리나라에서는 관련 연구가 교육이 활발히 이루어지고 있지는 않다. 이번 연구에서 우리는 1) 빅 히스토리 프로젝트, 2) 새로운 모습으로 올해 소개된 다큐멘터리 '코스모스', 3) 빅 히스토리 관련 서적들의 콘텐츠를 정리하고, 이들을 시대별, 주제별, 그리고 소주제별로 분류하여 얼마나 다양한 방법으로 접근할 수 있는지 보일 것이다. 향후에는 이 콘텐츠를 대학의 교양교육과정에서 어떻게 이용할 수 있는지를 제시하는 것이 목표이다.

The purpose of this paper was to explore delay avoiding measures and strategies. The paper was based on previous work of authors on finding delay causes. Firstly, the paper has discussed about delay avoidance measures prescribed by the previous work. As the previous study identified five main causes of construction delays, various measures and strategies to overcome those delay problems have been discussed in sequence in the last sections. Major delay prevention strategies are: involving stakeholders in the project decisions, outreach program, realistic time and resource estimation, try to adjust the triple constraints of time, cost and scope, ensure fair and complete disclosure of information at an early stage of the construction project, contractor, itself should inquire about patent design errors prior to submitting its bid, owner should include in its contract with the consultant an indemnity (protection) clause etc.

Bleeding, is one of the most common postoperative complications after palatoplasty in patients with cleft palate. The purpose of this article is to present our experience using a Foley catheter balloon for perioperative palatoplasty bleeding management. A retrospective data analysis was performed for all cases of palatoplasty performed by the author from 1999 to 2012 that experienced postoperative hemorrhage. These patients were managed by utilizing posterior nasal compression with a Foley catheter balloon for the period 2006 to 2012. We have compared two methods (we use before 2006 the reoperative method) with regards to the later development of palatal fistulae and cases with reoperative hemostasis. The study found no statistically significant differences between the conventional and proposed method in relation to the development of palatal fistulae (P=0.7). These findings suggest that nasal packing using a Foley balloon is a safe and effective method for postoperative bleeding control after palatoplasty in patients with cleft palate.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose useful suggestions by analyzing cases as to how global companies have implemented a rural outreach as a part of their CSR activities. Methods: Case studies were conducted. The cases were selected through the literature review and, based on two-by-two matrices, four types of cases were classified. Results: The results of this study are as follows; CSR activities of global companies in the rural area were categorized into two parts - "where to support(agricultural business or rural area)" and "how to support(whether to connect with business or not)." Conclusion: Domestic companies need to refer to the result of this study to increase the diversity and the effectiveness of their rural outreaches of CSR activities.

정기적으로 발행되는 우주라이크 [WouldYouLike]의 간행물 홍보를 위해 가장 많은 사용자를 가진 소셜네트워크 서비스 (SNS) 페이스북을 이용한 천문우주학 대중화 활동에 대해 소개한다. 2012년 7월부터 페이스북 페이지를 운영하기 시작한 이후 현재까지 1만 2천여명의 팬을 가지게 되었고, 그곳에 올려지는 우주라이크의 게시글들은 평균적으로 약 4천명의 사람들에게 전달된다. 다양한 종류의 글, 그림, 사진 그리고 동영상등을 업로드하고 페이스북 사용자들의 반응을 살펴본결과 크게 세가지의 수요층이 존재하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이번 발표를 통해 우주라이크 페이스북 페이지에서 지금까지 다루어졌던 컨텐츠들인 '이번주 천문학', '네모난 천문학' 그리고 '아름다운 천체사진 및 글귀' 등을 소개 및 분석하고 각각의 컨텐츠들이 가지고 있는 장단점에 대해서 논의한 후 SNS를 통한 천문우주학 대중화의 효과적인 개선책을 찾고자 한다.

Even though Islamic microfinance has flourished in the last two decades, still it faces some problems related to its sustainability and outreach. Market orientation has generally developed some strategies for organizations aiming to retain the current customers and attract new ones. In addition, organizations, which are addressed as Islamic, should be Shariah-compliant in all aspects. This paper introduces the market orientation concept which is adapted to Shariah rules and recommends a solution for sustainability problems of Islamic microfinance institutions. Current study tries to provide some intangible instances and evidences to introduce and use Islamic market orientation concept for Islamic microfinance institutions, in particular.

Astronomy is a popular topic for the public in term of astronomical phenomenon such as occultations, solar and lunar eclipses or meteor showers. In term of education, astronomy also is popular as one of the world Science Olympiads. Social media, as the new trend in communicating and connecting people, plays a significant role in increasing the size of the astronomy community. Beyond IYA 2009, more and more astronomy activities have been done in many places in Indonesia. New astronomy communities have been formed in several cities and public engagement is also high in social media especially on Facebook and Twitter. In this paper, we will discuss the lesson learned from astronomy outreach achievements in Indonesia and the need for citizen science projects as a distance learning tool for the public as part of astronomy development in Indonesia. We argue and propose that this project will be also important up to a regional scope.

I use a common educational spectrographic device (SV2100R) in order to obtain astronomical spectra after inventing a new adaptor for telescopes. Experimental classes and learning projects in schools and public outreach are well established regarding imaging and photometry observations. However, experiments using astronomical spectrographs are rather hard to find because the procedures of spectral extraction and wavelength calibration is less convenient. SV2100R is a 1D CCD array and thus has the advantage of not requiring spectral extraction. In addition, basic wavelength calibration is preformed by the the provided software. It was adapted to a 12-inch reflecting telescope in the Korea Science Academy of KAIST in Busan and a spectrum of the bright object, Arcturus, was successfully obtained. This means one can provide educational programs on the topic of astronomical spectra. A few suggested projects are presented.

This study is a part of three year project of “A Study on the Development, Evaluation ＆ Outreach of Marriage Preparation Program”. The purpose of this study is to analyse the unmarried and married couples' attitude about marriage and family, marriage preparation status, their needs of marriage preparation program and ingredients of marital happiness to developing base line data of the marriage preparation program. The result showed that communication ＆ conflict resolution, financial management, relationship characteristics are the major contents area to be considered to develop marriage preparation program. Critics and recommendation for need assessment and educational methods were added.

In this paper, the design criteria of future container crane for megaships are investigated. The current loading/unloading capacity of a typical container crane, roughly 30 moves/hr, is too law to meet the requirements of future super containerships, which are expected over 15,000 TEU. After examining the transition of containerships through the years and studying the research trend in developed countries, the specifications of the container crane that can Meet a 15,000 TEU containership are proposed. The structure, trolley and hoist mechanism, outreach, backreach, capacity, speeds, durability, and stability of the future container crane are described.
