  • Maximum power point tracking method is very important to enhance efficiency of photovoltaic system. Meanwhile a lot of research about MPPT has been studied and developed new one better than a method of the past. This paper deals with Perturb and Observation that are most commonly used. Tracking parameter changed PV voltage for PV current and it was simulated with P-SIM program. The P&O tracking method to use current for parameter lows ripple rate of output and enhances response rate of tracking. Through this study, it has been demonstrated that method using current for tracking parameter is effective.

  • This paper proposes a fast-transient digital LDO(Low dropout) regulator with binary-weighted current control technique. Conventional digital LDO takes a long time to stabilize the output voltage, because it controls the amount of current step by step, thus ringing problem is generated. Binary-weighted current control technique rapidly stabilizes output voltage by removing the ringing problem. When output voltage reliably reaches the target voltage, It added the FRZ mode(Freeze) to stop the operation of digital LDO. The proposed fast response digital LDO is used with a slow response DC-DC converter in the system which rapidly changes output voltage. The proposed digital controller circuit area was reduced by 56% compared to conventional bidirectional shift register, and the ripple voltage was reduced by 87%. A chip was implemented with a $0.18{\mu}F$ CMOS process. The settling time is $3.1{\mu}F$ and the voltage ripple is 6.2mV when $1{\mu}F$ output capacitor is used.

  • A comparative study of single-phase PWM converters having active filtering functions both on ac-input and dc-output sides have been carried out. Based on the function of the dc-output side active filter, two types of configurations, the RPM (ripple power managing) type and the APM (average power managing) type are compared to show their contrastive characteristics. The prototype system using DSP based control algorithms, i.e. deadbeet current control and voltage sensor-less technique using full-order observer, show the availability of the proposed system.

  • This study proposes a bi-directional interleaved current-fed resonant converter (CRC) with reduced size of the output filter for a fuel cell electric vehicle. The proposed CRC achieves zero-current switching turn on and off of switches and diodes and makes ripple current of the output capacitor theoretically zero. As a result, the cost and volume of the output capacitor are significantly reduced. The two-stage power conversion technique is also applied for wide input and output voltage range operations. A 2kW prototype of the proposed converter is built and tested to verify the validity of the proposed operation.

  • This paper deals with filter design for utility-interactive voltage-sourced PWM inverters built by single-phase half-bridge topology. By analyzing the relation between utility voltage and the ac output voltage of single-phase half-bridge inverters, the instantaneous voltage applied on the filter inductor is deduced qualitatively and quantitatively. Moreover, switching ripple current through the filter inductor is calculated from the filter inductor voltage. Based on the above mentioned analysis, filter design method is proposed by evaluating the percentage of the switching ripple current against the rated fundamental current. Proposed filter design method is verified by simulation and experiment.

  • In this study, we first briefly introduce the effect of circulating current control on the modulation signal of a modular multilevel converter (MMC). The maximum modulation index is also theoretically derived. According to the optimal modulation index analysis and the model in the continuous domain, different DC-side output impedance equivalent models of MMC with/without compensating component are derived. The DC-side impedance of MMC inverter station can be regarded as a series xR + yL + zC branch in both cases. The compensating component of the maximum modulation index is also related to the DC equivalent impedance with circulating current control. The frequency characteristic of impedance for MMC, which is observed from its DC side, is analyzed. Finally, this study investigates the prediction of the DC voltage ripple transfer between two-terminal MMC high-voltage direct current systems under unbalanced conditions. The rationality and accuracy of the impedance model are verified through MATLAB/Simulink simulations and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a method to reduce commutation torque ripple in a sensorless brushless DC motor drive without current sensors. To compensate the commutation torque ripple completely, the duration of commutation must be known. The proposed method measures the duration of commutation from terminal voltage waveforms, calculates a PWM duty ratio to suppress the commutation torque ripple from the output of speed controller, and applies the calculated PWM duty ratio only during the commutation. Experimental results show that vibrations are considerably reduced when the proposed method is applied to the sensorless brushless DC moter drive for air-conditioner compressor.

  • This paper presents a Zero-Current Switching(ZCS) two-transformer phase-shifted full-bridge(TTFB) converter using voltage ripple. The proposed converter provides Zero-Voltage Switching(ZVS) of leading leg switches and ZCS of lagging leg switches using voltage ripple. Especially, circulating current is reduced by ZCS operation and there are no additional components required for the soft switching of power switches. Furthermore, in case of light load, ZVS operation of lagging leg can be achieved. The operations, analysis and design consideration of proposed converter are presented. To verify the validity of the proposed converter, experimental results for a 410W (205[V], 2[A]) prototype are presented.

  • In a conventional DC power supply used for CO2 laser, the circuit elements such as a rectifier bridge, a current-limiting resistor, a high voltage switch, energy storage capacitors ans a high-voltage isolation transformer using high turn ratio are necessary. Consequently, those supplies are expensive and require a large space. Thus, laser resonator and power supply should be optimally designed. In this paper, we propose a new power supply using high frequency resonance phenomena for CW(Continuous wave) CO2 laser (maximum output of 23W with discharge length of 450mm). It consists of a transformer including leakage inductance, magnetizing inductance and half-bridge converter, a three-stage Cockcroft-Walton and PFC(Power factor correction) circuit. The output ripple voltage can be controlled the minimum of 0.24% under the high frequency switching of 231kHz. Furthermore, the output efficiency was improved to 16.4% and the laser output stability of about 5.6% was obtained in this laser system.
