  • With the aid of fast computing power, resampling techniques are being introduced for simulation output analysis (SOA). Autocorrelation among the output from discrete-event simulation prohibit the direct application of resampling schemes (Threshold bootstrap, Binary bootstrap, Stationary bootstrap, etc) extend its usage to time-series data such as simulation output. We present a new method for inference from a regenerative process, regenerative bootstrap, that equals or exceeds the performance of classical regenerative method and approximation regeneration techniques. Regenerative bootstrap saves computation time and overcomes the problem of scarce regeneration cycles. Computational results are provided using M/M/1 model.

  • EPC seeks to minimize variability by transferring the output variable to a related process input(controllable) variable. In the case of product control, a very reasonable objective is to try to minimize the variance of the output deviations from the target or set point. We consider an alternative EPC model with first-order autoregressive disturbance.

  • The effect of research and development (R&D) expenditure on firm output is an interesting topic, but hardly explored in developing countries due to the unavailability of data. This study investigates this topic in the context of Vietnam by utilizing a novel dataset of 343 firms listed on the Vietnam Stock Exchange in the 2010-2018 period. The effect of R&D expenditure is examined under the production function framework. In order to obtain the robustness of the quantitative results, we estimate the production function with two coherent techniques including the OLS and 2-SLS. An instrumental variable regression technique is adopted to avoid the endogeneity problem between R&D expenditure and other variables. In our empirical analysis, we find that R&D expenditure has a positive and significant impact on output growth. The finding is robust in both OLS and 2-SLS frameworks. Besides, the output elasticity to R&D expenditure of our result is much higher than the estimated elasticity of other countries. The results imply that a 1% increase in R&D expenditure in Vietnam will help to expand the output more than a 1% increase in R&D investment in other countries. The findings from our paper provide important implications for firm managers, investors, and policymakers in Vietnam.

  • This study proposes a comprehensive mathematical model that includes coil-system circuit and loss models for power converters in wireless power transfer (WPT) systems. The proposed model helps in understanding the performance of WPT systems in terms of coil-to-coil efficiency, overall efficiency, and output power capacity and facilitates system performance optimization. Three methods to achieve constant output power for variable-load systems are presented based on system performance analysis. An optimal method can be selected for a specific WPT system by comparing the efficiencies of the three methods calculated with the proposed model. A two-coil 1 kW WPT system is built to verify the proposed mathematical model and constant output power control methods. Experimental results show that when the load resistance varies between 5 and $25{\Omega}$, the system output power can be maintained at 1 kW with a maximum error of 6.75% and an average error of 4%. Coil-to-coil and overall efficiencies can be maintained at above 90% and 85%, respectively, with the selected optimal control method.

  • This study examines the relative efficiency of 34 local public medical centers in Korea. In order to concretely grasp the causes of inefficiency and suggest improvement solutions, the desirable set point was established based on the actual value which needs to be improved. As a result of analysis, we determined that output must be increased while input is held constant in order to improve effectiveness through the actual value and set point. Efficiency cannot be achieved if input is augmented solely to increase output. Also, to increase output, the medical centers need to improve their quality without increasing any input for customer visits and hospitalizations. Further, in order to strategically promote effectiveness and efficiency of local public medical centers, these medical centers must focus on input resource and patient interchange through the mutual cooperation with local private hospitals and university medical centers.

  • This paper proposed a quantitative evaluation method to measure the operational effectiveness of the local military manpower administrations. The proposed method compared the relative operational effectiveness level for 12 local military manpower administrations in Korea.. The method used the IDEA (imprecise Data Envelopment Analysis) model which Is able to measure relative operational effectiveness level, and also used two input variables (labor cost, operational cost) and three output variables (number of military applicants, number of civil application approved & processed, management accuracy level). Through the model output analysis, we presented the relative effectiveness scores, the reason for non-effectiveness, and the relationship between non-effective ness level and input/output variables for each local military manpower administration. We also presented a few recommendations how to improve the effectiveness level on particular local military manpower administration.

  • The purpose of this comparative study is to compare and evaluate venture business of electronic and communication industry by Data Envelopment Analysis(DEA). DEA is a linear programming-based technique that converts multiple input and output measures into a single comprehensive measures of productive efficiency. In this paper, the CCR model and trend analysis model are used to examine the efficiency of 18 venture business. Input variables are number of employees. raw-material costs and production capability and output variables are real production, sales revenues and net income after taxes. DEA approach broad information like as efficiency level of each Decision Making Unit(DMU), reference group of efficiency improvement and trends of efficiency shift. Finally, the correlation of input and output variables are examined to examine the relationship among variables.

  • The problem of testing for a change in the parameter of a stochastic process is particularly important in simulation studies. In studies of the steady state characteristics of a simulation model, it is important to identify initialization bias and to evaluate efforts to control this problem. A simulation output have the characteristics of chaotic behavior because of sensitive dependence on initial conditions. For that reason, we will apply Lyapunov exponent for diagnosis of chaotic motion to simulation output analysis. This paper proposes two methods for diagnosis of steady state in simulation output. In order to evaluate the performance and effectiveness of these methods using chaos theory, M/M/I(.inf.) queueing model is used for testing point estimator, average bias.

  • Simulation output knowledge analysis is one of problem-solving and/or knowledge adquistion process by investgating the system behavior under study through simulation . This paper describes an approach to simulation outputknowldege analysis using fuzzy neural network model. A fuzzy neral network model is designed with fuzzy setsand membership functions for variables of simulation model. The relationship between input parameters and output performances of simulation model is captured as system behavior knowlege in a fuzzy neural networkmodel by training examples form simulation exepreiments. Backpropagation learning algorithms is used to encode the knowledge. The knowledge is utilized to solve problem through simulation such as system performance prodiction and goal-directed analysis. For explicit knowledge acquisition, production rules are extracted from the implicit neural network knowledge. These rules may assit in explaining the simulation results and providing knowledge base for an expert system. This approach thus enablesboth symbolic and numeric reasoning to solve problem througth simulation . We applied this approach to the design problem of broadband communication network.

  • Purpose - This study compares the management efficiency of retailers in China, Korea and other global countries. China's retail industry is experiencing a recession. In order to strengthen the competitiveness of retailers, it is necessary to manage the efficiency. Therefore, we analyzed the management efficiency of Chinese retailers as well as Korea and global retailers who are competing with Chinese retailers. Research design, data, and methodology - The DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) carried out for evaluating the relative efficiency of multiple DMUs (decision making units) with homogeneity. Data were collected from the American Retail Trade Association (2017). In those distributors' data, 5 of China and 5 of Korea and 10 of other global countries' analyzed. CCR and BCC analysis were performed to determine the cause of the inefficiency of DMUs by measuring the technical efficiency, pure technology efficiency and scale efficiency. Result - Among the 20 retail distributors, Costco, Kroger (Global), Eland World, BGF(Korea) are operating efficiently. Chinese retailers are operating inefficiently. Retailers' CRS status means the growth rate of input is equal to the growth rate of output. In the case of DRS status, the ratio of output to input variable is much smaller. In order to improve inefficiency, reducing input variables can be a solution. For the firms in IRS status, the rate of increase in output is relative greater than the input. That means efficiency is good condition. The analysis result shows that most retailers are showing DRS status especially Chinese retailers. Scale efficiency is a major cause of inefficiency rather than pure technology efficiency. It is recommended for ineffective retailers to reduce inputs to become efficient retailers. Otherwise, retrain existing employees or introducing advanced technologies to increase the output. Conclusions - Most of Chinese retailers are operating inefficiently which caused by the excessive investment in the inputs. On the other hand, Other global retailers are analyzed to be efficient by DEA. In this study, benchmarking targets of some retailers' suggested to improve the management efficiency especially in inputs.
