적외선 영상에서 영역확장과 온라인 분산을 이용한 화염 검출 (Flame Detection using Region Expansions and On-line Variances in Infrared image)

  • 본 논문에서는 적외선 영상에서 영역확장 및 온라인 분산을 이용한 화염검출 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서 제안된 화염검출 방법은 화염 후보영역을 효과적으로 검출하기 위하여, 먼저 적외선 자기 영상에 높은 임계값을 적용하여 초기 화염영역의 후보영역을 분할하고, 영역확장 방법을 이용하여 유사한 높은 값을 갖는 이웃영역으로 확장시켜 최종후보영역을 검출한다. 분할된 후보영역은 나대지 와 건물같은 비 화염 영역을 포함할 수 있기 때문에, 화염 영역을 검출하기 위하여 분할영역을 시간에 따라 추적하면서, 각 후보영역의 밝기 값의 변화 정도를 추적영역의 분산을 온라인 갱신에 의해 효과적으로 계산하였다. 적외선 영상에서의 실험을 통하여 영영 확장 방법과 온라인 분산에 의한 제안방법이 적외선 영상에서 효율적으로 화염을 검출함을 보였다.

우주기원의 고에너지 입자가 기후에 미치는 영향: 연구 현황과 정책적 시사점 (Climate Influences of Galactic Cosmic Rays (GCR): Review and Implications for Research Policy)

  • Possible links among cosmic ray, cloud, and climate have scientific uncertainties. The reputed topics have been highly controversial during several decades. A link between the atmospheric ionization by galactic cosmic rays (GCR), which is modulated by solar activities, and global cloud cover was firstly proposed in 1997. Some researchers suggested that the GCR can stimulate the formation of cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) in the atmosphere, and then the higher CCN concentrations may lead to an increase of cloud cover, resulting in a cooling of the Earth's climate, and vise versa. The CLOUD (Cosmic leaving outdoor droplets) experiment was designed to study the effect of GCR on the formation of atmospheric aerosols and clouds under precisely controlled laboratory conditions. A state-of-the-art chamber experiment has greatly advanced our scientific understanding of the aerosol formation in early stage and its nucleation processes if the GCR effect is considered or not. Many studies on the climate-GCR (or space weather) connection including the CLOUD experiment have been carried out during the several decades. Although it may not be easy to clarify the physical connection, the recent scientific approaches such as the laboratory experiments or modeling studies give some implications that the research definitively contributed to reduce the scientific uncertainties of natural and anthropogenic aerosol radiative forcing as well as to better understand the formation processes of fine particulate matters as an important parameter of air quality forecast.

S-Transform Based Time-Frequency Analysis of Leakage Current Signals of Transmission Line Insulators under Polluted Conditions

  • Flashover of power transmission line insulators due to contamination is a major threat to the reliable operation of power system. This paper deals with the analysis of leakage current characteristics of polymeric insulator using S-Transform technique in order to develop a better diagnostic tool to identify the surface condition of outdoor polymeric insulators. In this work, experiments were carried out on 11 kV silicone rubber insulator under AC voltage at different pollution levels. Moving average technique was adopted to find the trend followed by LC peak at different relative humidity conditions. S-Transform was used to find the relationship between energy and frequency content of the leakage current signal with respect to increase in pollution level over a period of time. From the S-Transform time-frequency contour analysis, point of transition to severe arcing due to increase in pollution and its thershold limit were evaluated. Reported results show that the surface condition of insulators could be easily identified from the S-Transform time-frequency analysis of leakage current signals.

전자사진용 화상시스템의 화상개선 알고리즘 (Image Enhancement Algorithm in Imaging Systems for Electronic Photography)

  • 전자사진은 디지털 기술의 급속한 발전에 의하여 그 응용 범위가 확대되고있으나, 은염사진과 원리와 특성이 근본적으로 다르며 은염사진에 익숙한 사용자에게도 은염사진과 유사한 특성을 보이도록 화상의 개선과 화질의 보정 등이 요구된다. 본 논문은 은염사진의 계조 특성을 추출하여 전자화상시스템에 적용시켜 은염사진의 계조 특성을 지닌 전자화상을 출력하는 방법을 제시한다. 먼저, 은염사진과 전자사진의 화상 생성 공정을 구체적으로 비교하여 그 차이를 기술하고, 사진 계조 변환의 원리와 방법을 제시한다. 다음으로 사진 계조 변환함수를 구하기 위한 각 시스템의 특성화의 실험을 수행한 결과를 보인다. 최종적으로 이론을 바탕으로 한 실험에서는 사진 계조로 변환된 데이터를 디지털 화상시스템으로 출력하여 은염사진의 계조 특성의 비교분석을 수행한다.

선택적 Anchors 기반 Indoor GPS 및 EKF를 이용한 이동 로봇 위치 추정 (Localization for Mobile Robot by Selective Anchors in Indoor GPS and EKF)

  • This paper proposes a technique of indoor localization for mobile robot by so called indoor GPS and EKF. Basically the concept of indoor GPS is similar outdoor GPS, and the indoor GPS gets distances between Anchors and Tag by a ranging method of CSS and then estimates the coordinate by distances and known Anchor positions. After we performed performance test of indoor GPS system in ideal and multipath environment, we configured that the indoor GPS has internal error factors and external error factors. This paper handled a multipath problem belonging to external error factors. At first various direct physical method are introduced to fix the multipath problems, and as expected we got errors corrected considerably. And then the method of selective anchors for indoor GPS is applied. With these two level improvement of indoor GPS performance, EKF(Extended Kalman Filter) is applied to mobile robot in indoor environment. The usefulness of the proposed methods are shown by a series of experiments in a environment giving contaminated data by multipath.

  • Methods for measuring or estimating of ground shape by a laser range finder and a vision sensor(exteroceptive sensors) have critical weakness in terms that these methods need prior database built to distinguish acquired data as unique surface condition for driving. Also, ground information by exteroceptive sensors does not reflect the deflection of ground surface caused by the movement of UGVs. Thereby, UGVs have some difficulties regarding to finding optimal driving conditions for maximum maneuverability. Therefore, this paper proposes a method of recognizing exact and precise ground shape using Inertial Measurement Unit(IMU) as a proprioceptive sensor. In this paper, firstly this method recognizes attitude of a robot in real-time using IMU and compensates attitude data of a robot with angle errors through analysis of vehicle dynamics. This method is verified by outdoor driving experiments of a real mobile robot.

  • 본 연구는 영상 분석에서 최근 좋은 연구 성과를 내고 있는 컨볼루션 신경망 (Convolutional Neural Network: CNN) 기법을 실외 CCTV 영상 분석에 적용하여 객체 유형을 분류하는 방법론은 제안한다. 배경 차분 (background subtraction)을 사용하여 찾고자 하는 객체 후보들을 추출해내고 이를 CNN을 이용해 분류함으로써 계산량을 줄이는 효과를 얻는 방법이다. CNN 학습용 CCTV 영상 수집을 위해 범죄 발생이 주로 일어나는 골목길, 놀이터 등에서 촬영한 CCTV 영상 DB를 구축하였으며 우선적으로 사람인 객체만 검출하는 분류기를 학습하였다. 다양한 학습 데이터 사이즈와 세팅에 맞게 실험하였으며 실험 결과 약 80%의 분류 정확도를 보였으며 새로운 CCTV 영상으로 테스트했을 때 약 67.5%의 성능을 보였다.

한랭지용 열펌프의 저온난방 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Performance of a Heat Pump for the Cold Climate)

  • The present study concerns an experimental study of a R-22 heat pump system consisted of liquid and liquid heat exchangers. The test was performed for various systems of a single-, tandem-, and two stage-cycle at the same environmental conditions of temperature. Various experiments of the heat pump system were peformed to compare the heating capacity and COP, when the outdoor temperature is near $-15^{\circ}C$ and the indoor temperature is $20^{\circ}C.$ As the results of the present study, the system of Tandem(parallel) cycle showed the best heating performance, while the discharge temperature of refrigerant was too high. In case of the system of two stage cycle, the performance characteristics were significantly improved by employing the inter cooler.

  • A wireless sensor network inherently comprises a plurality of sensor nodes widely deployed for sensing environmental information. To add new functions or to correct some faulty functions of an existing wireless sensor network, the firmware for each sensor node needs to be updated. Firmware update would be quite troublesome if it requires the gathering, reprogramming, and redeploy of all of already deployed sensor nodes. Over-the-air programming (OTA) facilitates the firmware update process, thereby allowing convenient maintenance of an already-deployed sensor network. This paper proposes and implements a remote firmware update mechanism for a TDMA-based wireless sensor network, in which the firmware for sensor nodes constituting the TDMA-based sensor network can be easily updated and the update process can be conveniently monitored from a remote site. We verify the validity of the proposed firmware update method via experiments and introduce three wireless sensor networks installed in outdoor sites in which the proposed firmware update mechanism has been exploited.

  • 요즘 차량 네비게이션 시스템은 큰 관심 분야이다. GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System)은 실외 측위를 위한 기술 중 핵심적인 기술이다. 그러나 GNSS는 높은 정확도와 신뢰도를 제공하지 못한다. 이러한 이유로, 우리는 차량의 GNSS 성능의 정확도를 향상시키기 위하여 Network-RTK를 적용하였다. 이 Network-RTK 모드에서 GNSS 에러는 급격히 감소하게 된다. 본 논문에서 우리는 ntrip client 프로그램을 설명하고 다양한 환경에서의 실험 결과를 보여준다.
