Nowadays, with improvement of economical income and life qualities, life pattern changes have been brought such as increasing of avocational activities. Consequently, following those life trends, utilization of car is getting increased. Thus, the perceptions of car have been changed from the only means of transport in the past to a 2nd residental space. that is why the car's endo environmental factors are getting so important. Air conditioner regulating air ventilization in vehicle's indoor automatically sets the right temperature based on the differences of indoor and outdoor's temperature with development of advanced functions to provide better environmental qualities in vehicle. However, even those advanced techniques for functional development are got so diverse though, the essential technique for preventing the growth of bateria and mold inside of the air conditioner are not even severals. Especially, evaporator one of the vehicle air conditioning equipments generates cooled air by vaporizing refrigerant in liquid state with the water as the adduct for this reactions. It has structural difficulties for water vaporation then cause the growth of germs. That's why this reseach was focused on the way of eliminating germs in the vehicle air conditioner efficiently. Direct air sterilizer by using UVC(Ultraviolet C) is manufactured and that performances are evaluated.

IN urban areas, public outdoor recreation opportunities are limited, traditional funding sources are being eraded, and crowding as well as ecological damage appear inevitable, these developments may require new analysis on the prospective policy of park, with the evaluation of the trend of amenity resources and recreation values, 16 parks were taken as informants in Deagu city area, the data for this research were collected 2,942 samples by the on-site-interview. The abstracted results of amenity elements were revealed as institutions and resource types, the attraction of resources was about twice as much as that of institutions. The resources is to be classified into two items ; national resources and human resources. The former is about five times as mcuh atractive as the latter. The attraction of natural resources consists in the atmospheric factors(35%), the biological factors(28%), the topographical factors(19%), and the scenery factors(18%). While, the attraction of human resources consists in the cultural factors(54%), the social factors(46%). The attraction of the base institutions is very low. The attraction of the static institution is three times as much as that of that of the dynamic institution. The above tendency is a general trend in Daegu city. But when we are taking into consideration in datail, we find that there is great difference among the green tract of land of the park. When the amenity resources of one's destination was used for the value of recreation, the pattern of attraction variables as a physical characteristics could explain 58%. Based on those result, this study is a small but important guidence for decision makings concerning to the allocation of scarce amenity resources.

The useful practical land shall be reserved when an artificial land covers the railway and road. However, the problem is that since the artificial land places directly on the top of noise sources likely on the railway and road there will arise the weak points, noise and vibration. On this study based on creating the artificial land on the top of a railway vehicle base and placing a tenement on that land, it was comprehended the noise influence from the railway car through the simulation. In order to secure the input value for the simulation, at first measured the noise condition of the railway station building and the railway vehicle base. The output value for the railway station building (place A) was around (53.6~57.6) dB(A), the equivalent continuous sound level for an hour, and for the railway station building (place B) it was around (63.7~68.9) dB. The maximum outdoor noise of the tenement on the artificial land was measured as 64.1 dB(A) under the fixed condition on the simulation modeling. The built purpose of placing the artificial land to prevent the noise influence from the railway met the expectation to be less influenced on the tenement. Rather, because of placing the artificial land the noise level on the lower space could be increased so there requires having a noise control.

Recent expansion of urban parks has been partly successful in terms of providing urban outdoor recreation space. Unfortunately we paid very little attention to the importance of providing regional identity to urban parks until recently. Thus one of the most important tasks of the contemporary landscape architects of Korea is to investigate ways to improve regional identity of urban parks. This study is aimed at evaluating how well the current urban parks have realized their own regional identity. To test the effectiveness of the concept of 'identity', the identity items were created, while a research model was developed by using such variables as in urban park identity, park satisfaction, belongingness to the region, and residential satisfaction. In order to test the model, the causations were analyzed. Meanwhile, the scales to evaluating identity were reviewed by means of the unstructures group interview, and were finally determined as 10 items; culture, uniqueness, symbolic, historic nature, homogeneity, harmony, difference, public benefit, nativeness and traditionality. Data from three new towns in the capital region-Bundang, Ilsan and Sanbon-were collected, and their central parks were referred to a questionnaire survey. The data were processed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis. It was found through this survey that subjects 'sentiments regarding the sample towns' regional identity differed slightly. Residents of Bundang felt the strongest amount of regional identity, followed by those of Ilsan and Sanbon. In addition, the most important scale on regional identity is 'park satisfaction', followed by 'belongingness to the region' and 'residental satisfaction'. The path analysis was conducted to interpret the causations in a more detailed and comprehensive way than correlation analysis. As a result, it was proven that the regional identity affects 'belingingness to region' through the intermediated variable 'park satisfaction', while affecting ' residential satisfaction' through the intermediate variables 'park satisfaction' and 'beligningness to region'. In other words, although the regional identity of a park does not directly affect 'belongingness to region' or 'residental satisfaction', it has indirect effects on them through intermediate variables.

For the purpose of investigating the effective removal of heating/cooling load from light-weighted building envelope, two air-conditioning systems, conventional parameter air-conditioning system and air-barrier system, are evaluated and compared by both experiment and simulation with six different cases during heating and cooling season. In addition, the characteristics of window-side building thermal load are assessed by varying supply air velocity in order to seek the optimal system operation condition. The results are as follows. 1) Air-barrier system is more effective to remove heating/cooling load at perimeter zone than conventional parameter air-conditioning system. Moreover, the better effectiveness appears during cooling season than during heating season. 2) The experiment during cooling season provides that indoor temperature of air-barrier system shows $1^{\circ}C$ less than that of the conventional system with similar outdoor air temperature profile, and indoor temperature distribution is more uniform throughout the experimented model space. It concludes that air-barrier system can achieve energy saving comparing to the conventional system. 3) The capturing efficiency of air-barrier system is 0.47 on heating season and 0.2 on cooling season with the same supply air volume. It results that the system performs effectively to remove building thermal load, moreover demonstrates high efficiency during cooling season. 4) The simulation results provide that capturing efficiency to evaluate the effective removal of building load from perimeter zone shows high value when supply air velocity is 1 m/s.

This study aims at analyzing the therapeutic design characteristics implemented in the indoor atriums of the outpatient areas in four children's hospitals in London and San Francisco. A mixed-method approach was used to examine the spatial configurations and design elements in the atriums, while a literature review was conducted to understand the therapeutic design characteristics relevant to atrium spaces and children's healthcare facilities. The spatial design and the pattern of use of the atrium in each hospital were studied during field visits and interviews with the hospital management staff. Based on the literature review and the observations from the field study, a Visibility Graphic Analysis was chosen to examine the visibility, accessibility, and intelligibility of the spatial configurations in the atriums of each hospital. In addition, the openness, restfulness, and vibrant ambience of the design elements in the atriums of each hospital were investigated by surveying fifty-two design professionals on the quality of the design elements in the atriums. A spatial configuration analysis, confirmed that all the atrium spaces had high visibility, accessibility, and intelligibility due to their high connectivity, integration, intelligibility, and because the atriums were laid out in the open lobby space, along the major circulation axis, or in the circulation intersection. In the survey of the design element evaluation, all atriums proved to be appropriate in terms of openness, while the adequacy of restfulness and vibrant ambience differed depending on the hospitals. Notably, location and orientation, access, natural light, outdoor view, and play facilities were found significant environmental design elements determining the successful implementation of the therapeutic design in the atriums. The observations from the aforementioned are further discussed to enhance the therapeutic design quality of atrium spaces in children's hospitals.

As urbanization progresses, the demand for parks and green space is increasing. Park green spaces in the city are important spaces in the city because they are recognized as spaces where people can freely engage in outdoor activities. The park service area is a measure that shows the extent to which services are provided based on distance. In this process, the concept of accessibility plays an important role, and walking, in particular, as the most basic means of transportation for people and has a great influence on the use of parks. However, the current park service area analysis focuses on discovering underprivileged areas, so detailed evaluation of beneficiary areas is insufficient. This study seeks to evaluate park service areas based on the pedestrian accessibility and the pedestrian network. Park services are services that occur when users directly visit the park, and accessibility is expected to be reflected in terms of usability. To quantify the pedestrian network, this study used space syntax to analyze pedestrian accessibility based on integration values. The integration values are an indicators that quantify the level of accessibility of the pedestrian network, and in this study, the higher the integration value, the higher the possibility of park use. The results of the study are as follows. First, Bundang-gu's park service area accounts for 43%, and includes most sections with high pedestrian accessibility, but some sections with good pedestrian accessibility are excluded. This can be seen as a phenomenon that occurs when residential areas and commercial and business areas are given priority during the urban planning process, and then park and green areas are selected. Second, based on Bundang-gu, the park service area and pedestrian accessibility within the park service area were classified by neighborhood unit. Differences appear for each individual neighborhood unit, and it is expected that the availability of the park will vary accordingly. In addition, even in areas created during the same urban planning process, there were differences in the evaluation of park service areas according to pedestrian accessibility. Using this, it is possible to evaluate individual neighborhood units that can be reflected in living area plans, and it can be used as a useful indicator in park and green space policies that reflect this in the future.

The purpose of this study was to quantitatively evaluate the expression of both multi-metric qualitative habitat evaluation index (QHEI) and biological integrity index (IBI) for artificial structures eco-artificial fish reef (EAFR) for fishes asylum and habitat. Especially, both experimental evaluation and biological verification were performed in Water and Environmental Center's outdoor test-bed of Korea Institute of Construction Technology located in Andong-city, Gyeongsangbuk-do. The experimental conditions reflecting the situation of domestic river include the flow rate (e.g., $0.0{\sim}1.5m\;s^{-1}$), the width (e.g., 1.0~3.0 m), the depth (e.g., 0.05~0.70 m), and variable bed materials. Both QHEI and IBI were monitored for 8 months from May to December 2010. Whereas QHEI values were highest at experimental points of the E~F with an average of 83.1, those were lowest at B~C with an average of 78.1. However, QHEI values inside EAFR were more than 98.9, regardelss of space and time, and indicated more than the highest good of the state (Good) in the habitat. Overally, IBI values showed similar trend with QHEI, but were 44.2 in the winter dry season, compared to 32.8 of QHEI values. IBI values Also, IBI values inside EAFR were greater than those at the experimental channel by 5.7 to 11.4% and 18.7 to 34.8% in flow and stagnant conditions, respectively, indicating that EAFR can secure asylum and habitat for fish during the dry season. For comprehensive aquatic ecosystem assessment, the experimental channel showed generally fair conditions (Fair~Good), whereas EAFR showed good conditions (Good), suggesting that EAFR can be applied to aquatic ecosystem restoration and improvement.

Detached residential housing areas are located in the west part of Pangyo City. Seven areas of them are designated for the displaced residents from their original homes by the city development, in which commercial use on the first floor is permitted. The District Plan for the areas were establishes, and one of its main goals is to secure privately owned public spaces (POPS). This research conducted a post enumeration survey on the POPS on the blocks in the seven areas, which blocks contain inner corridors between two rows of housing units. Analytical review of the survey result reveals that (1) POPS facing roads are mainly being used as parking lots or expansion-spaces for the commercial use on the first floor, (2) inner POPS forming corridors are being neglected and otherwise being used as storage areas or outdoor sub-kitchen spaces, and (3) no consideration has been taken for the continuity of the sloped corridors. Regardless of a few good practices in terms of air circulation and lighting, the POPS in the blocks prove to be limited in following the plan's original design intentions and principles.
With rapidly changing multimedia environment, various artistic changes and digitalized up-to-date social infra, urban environment construction based on culture contents has been activated. The large image in front of urban building that is expressed as media-façade, increasing rapidly in a recent period, is not a new thing at all. In addition, IT technology molten in city space is testing the possibility of new media through the meeting with architecture. However, unlike its infra enlargement, the definition about media-façade is not clear so the system was constructed in a level of night lightscape or outdoor image advertisement. The purpose of this guideline is the regulation from the negative aspect rather than the possibility of various visual, artistic media expressions. Therefore, it could not show essential concept of media-façade. Moreover, most of companies or building owners focus on short-term profit and marketing effect rather than prepare various contents so they can not use constructed infra properly. After all, in many cases, they discolor the meaning of media-façade. This paper is a pilot study to grasp the current definition of media-façade to construct right guideline of media-façade. On the basis of this study, it will prepare academic definition of media-façade and construct the guideline for design evaluation.
