This study aims to analyze the actual state, the satisfaction index, and the satisfaction factor of the residents in the apartment adopting thematic outdoor rest space design. This study also proposes the basic data for the standard of resident-centered rest space design, not designer-centered or fashion-followed design. The results are as follows : First, most residents use near by rest space, and more use occur during the evenings; 17 hr. ∼ 21 hr. Most of residents use the rest space with their children, partner, or family. Residents usually take walks and take a rests in the rest space. Most residents use the rest space quietly. Of the rest facilities in the outdoor rest space, benches are most used, walks and pergolas are more frequently used. But waterscape facilities are not particularly used. The satisfaction index of the outdoor rest space is generally low. However, the satisfaction index of the rest space and facilities type shows that the evaluation of rest facilities(e.g. benches) is high. The satisfaction index of the decoration shows that the evaluation for the color and design of facilities is high. In the satisfaction index of the physical environment, the item about the size of rest space is highly appreciated. In the mental satisfaction index of the rest space, the item about whole atmosphere is highly appreciated. Of the factors affecting the general satisfaction index with outdoor rest space, the factor of physical environment is the most important independent-variable. Physical environment and facilities are more important influential factors than the atmosphere of outdoor rest space. In the future, the practical study searching for the preferences of the residents and the activation of use should be preceded.

Nowadays, the concept of outdoor campus is different from the past. U-Campus with a well-developed high-speed computer network is no longer a constraint on the campus interior and exterior spaces. From this point of view, today's large-scale university outdoor spaces need to be changed from a simple green space. The university campus outdoor spaces need to be changed into a new concept space. This study analyzed the changes in academic activities and preferences of college students who are users of university campus outdoor spaces and it is aimed at space planning that reflects the preference. The university campus should be remodified through changes in students' behaviors. Participants in this study were four different departments students (Social science, Physical education, Natural science and Engineering). The preference results of 17 items were analyzed. As a result of this preference analysis, we found that there is a difference in preference among students belonging to four different departments students. In conclusion, this study will propose that the preferences of each college should be considered in planning the outdoor rest spaces of university campus.

본 연구는 옥외공간 설계변화에 대해 거주민들은 옥외공간에 대해서 어떤 인식을 가지고 있는지 조사하고자 옥외공간을 녹지공간, 놀이 및 운동 관련 공간, 보행공간, 휴식 및 조경시설 공간으로 분류하고 이에 대해 각각의 만족도와 개선사항을 단지규모별로 분석하였다. 분석결과에 따르면 단지내 특색있는 공간이 어딘지에 대한 질문에 단지의 규모가 클수록 녹지공간과 운동 및 놀이공간, 휴식 및 조경시설공간이 비슷한 비율로 응답된 반면, 모든 단지의 응답자들은 단지내 가장 부족한 공간으로 운동 및 놀이공간을 생각하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 단지규모에 따른 아파트 단지의 옥외공간에 대한 세부공간별 평가결과를 살펴보면 대단지일수록 옥외공간 설계시 좀 더 많은 설계 항목이 도입되고 운동 및 놀이공간 및 휴게공간 등에 대한 강조가 이루어지고 있는 현실과 달리 주민들의 평가는 이와 상반된 결과를 보이고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 단지규모가 클수록 옥외공간에 대한 이용객이 증가하여 이에 대한 수요가 증가하고 다양화되는데 비해 단지설계는 이를 뒷받침하지 못하고 있음을 보여주는 결과라 할 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims at providing suitable outdoor spaces for physical, social, and psychological condition of Korea elderly, examining design characteristics and presenting design guideline of outdoor space for elderly. To do this, this study examined previous research papers and scholastic writings, related to elderly housing, and analyzed existing outdoor space for elderly. Additionally evaluation of usage pattern and physical trace carried out four silver towns. As a result, first, the study showd that characteristics of outdoor space are related to safety, amenity, recognition and efficiency. Second, types of outdoor space in elderly related facilities are very limited in verity, just facilitating with rest space, sport space, and garden space. Third, from a standpoint of barrier-free-design, four silver town cases are not carefully concerning about outdoor space for elderly. These spaces should be designed for both neighborhood and elderly people.

Outdoor space used for leisure life as inhabitantses' recreation and rest area, and night activity is very important space to many apartment complex. Lately, outdoor space is recognized as a very important space in apartment complex. Especially, that outdoor space is frequently used at night despite planning of lighting of current outdoor space is unprepared for the selection of suitable luminaires, arrangement of luminaire and lighting plan. From this point of view, this paper investigated the essence of light in outdoor space and analyzed different outdoor luminous environment. This paper finally suggested recommended level of illuminance and planning of lighting.

The purpose of this study is to provide suitable outdoor spaces for Korean elderly, examining characteristics and types of existing outdoor spaces and presenting design guideline of outdoor space for elderly. Second, types of outdoor space in elderly facilities are very limited in verity, just facilitating with rest space, sport space, and garden space. The purpose of this study is to clarify the using condition and requirement for outdoor space between the parallel types of elementary school buildings focused on Chungbuk province in Korea. Consequently, we investigated the actual conditions of students and teachers, using conditions of outdoor space between school buildings. The summary of outdoor space can be given below. 1) In the using condition of outdoor spaces, most of them have path & covered walks, garden, playground and soon. The distances between neighboring building fixed, the use and quality of outdoor space is differently to spatial configuration of school buildings. For example, garden functions as itself in case of D/H>3, but the other space to observe in D/H>3. 2) In the requirements of outdoor spaces, the amount of scatter number of classmates and teachers is wide. The favoring outdoor space is the woods to take a rest by oneself, the demanding outdoor space is almost a resting place like a school store in case of classmates and the natural facilities like ponds garden pagora in teachers.

This study investigates the physical characteristics of indoor rest zones using the Space Syntax Method. A conceptual framework is based on analysis of design works presented in competitions(544 rest zones of 24 buildings on 7 campuses). The analysis on the unit type of rest zones showed that they were mostly available as open type, followed by semi-open type and outdoor rest places. On the other hand, by classifying the shape of whole building into traffic lines and nodal points, it was found that the buildings with 3 or more traffic lines have lower availability than others, because the buildings required more nodal points along a little higher complexity and zoning formed at increased nodal points between building masses. The analysis on the location of rest zones on traffic lines showed that hall type was most excellent in the level of availability. Finally, the analysis on the floor height showed that hall-like open rest places and outdoor places like rooftop garden functioned as a factor to enhance the integration of different spaces. In conclusion, this research will help the follow-up studies make spatial creation planning that may enhance the spatial efficiency and availability of Indoor rest zones on the campus.

주택단지 옥외공간은 거주자들의 여가활동, 휴식공간, 야간활동 등에 사용된다. 이러한 경향에 의하여 주거단지의 옥외공간이 매우 중요한 공간으로 인식되고 있다. 그러나 옥외공간은 야간이용이 빈번함에 불구하고, 각 공간의 조명계획은 조명기구의 선택과 배치 그리고 조도계획이 부적합하다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구는 옥외공간의 빛의 본질을 파악하고, 옥외공간별 조명환경을 측정 시뮬레이션 분석하였다. 본 논문은 이 사례를 통하여 공간별 목적에 맞는 조도기준 및 조명계획의 방향, 합리적인 유지 방안을 제시하였다.

본 연구는 학교 외부공간 관리를 위한 방향설정을 위하여 교사들의 인식을 분석하였다. 학교 외부공간의 나무와 꽃의 식재 만족도와 옥외 휴게공간의 만족도가 전체 만족도에 영향을 미치게 된다. 근무년수가 길수록 외부공간의 중요성과 필요성에 대한 인식도 높은 것으로 파악된다. 반면에 학교 외부공간 관리의 문제점으로 인력, 예산, 관심의 부족을 언급하였다. 학교 외부공간은 안전한 놀이공간 확보, 식물교육공간 확보, 수업실습공간 확보, 휴식공간 제공을 위해 관리되어야 한다. 학습 지원하는 장소이자 놀이공간 및 휴식 공간으로서의 역할을 담당해야 하며 이를 위해 벤치, 퍼골라, 야외교실, 생태연못, 텃밭, 화단 등의 시설이 포함되어야 한다. 교과서에 등장하는 식물과 계절감을 느낄 수 있으며, 그늘을 제공하는 식물유형을 식재하며 식물 표찰을 설치하여 식물 정보를 제공하여 학습 효과를 도모할 수 있다. 교사는 외부공간의 관리가 학생들에게 교육적, 정서적 효과가 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다. 학교 공간 혁신에 대응하여 실내 공간과 유기적으로 연계하여 교육적, 정서적 효과를 달성할 수 있도록 외부공간에 대한 지속적 관리가 이루어져야 한다. 이를 위해 예산과 인력의 확보 및 이를 지원할 정책의 뒷받침이 마련되어야 할 것이다.
