  • An important drawback in Lattice Reduction (LR) aided detectors has been investigated. For the solution, an improved LR aided detection with ignorable complexity overhead is proposed for MIMO system, where the additional correction operation is performed for the case of unreliable symbol decision. We found that LR aided detection errors mainly occur when the lattice points after the inverse lattice transform in the final step fall outside the constellation point set. In the proposed scheme, we check whether or not the lattice point obtained through LR detection is out of constellation. Only for the case of out of constellation, we additionally perform ML search with reduced search region restricted to the neighboring points near to the obtained lattice points. Using this approach, we can effectively and significantly improve the detection performance with just a slight complexity overhead which is negligible compared to full searched ML scheme. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme achieves the detection performance near to that of the ML detection with a lower computational complexity.

  • The purpose of this study is to research seasonal constellation experiments and to find out what are effective seasonal constellation experiments according to school salary. we organized seasonal constellation experiments with 24 elementary preparatory teachers and asked them to what effective experiments are for each school class. As a result, constellation learning through direct experience activities through role play is the most effective in elementary school, and in middle and high schools, using the stellarium program to realistically observe and reason about seasonal changes in constellations was selected as an effective experiment. Pre-service teachers recognized that experiments in which direct experience and specific manipulation activities were emphasized in elementary school, and experiments in which observation of realistic natural phenomena and reasoning activities were emphasized were effective in middle and high schools.

  • Automatic Dependent Surveillance Broadcast (ADS-B) is quickly being adopted by aviation safety authorities around the world as the standard for aircraft tracking. The technology provides the opportunity for live tracking of aircraft positions within range of an ADS-B receiver stations. Currently these receiver stations are bound by land and local infrastructural constraints. As such there is little to no coverage over oceans and poles, over which many commercial flights routinely travel. A low cost space based ADS-B receiving system is proposed as a constellation of small satellites. The possibility for a link between aircraft and satellite is dependent primarily on proximity. Calculating the likelihood of a link between two moving targets when considering with the non-periodic and non-uniform nature of actual aircraft flight-paths is non-trivial. This analysis of the link likelihood and the performance of the tracking ability of the satellite constellation has been carried out by a direct simulation of satellites and aircraft. Parameters defining the constellation (satellite numbers, orbit size and shape, orbit configuration) were varied between reasonable limits. The recent MH370 disappearance was simulated and potential tracking and coverage was analysed using an example constellation. The trend of more satellites at a higher altitude inclined at 60 degrees was found to be the optimal solution.

  • In the recent era of NewSpace, unlike high-reliability satellites of the past, low-reliability satellites are being developed and mass-produced at a lower cost to launch constellations satellites. To achieve cost-effective cluster satellite development, satellite users and developers need to assess the feasibility of maintaining mission performance over the expected lifespan when cluster satellites are launched. Plans for replacements due to random failures should also be established to maintain performance. This study proposed a method for assessing system reliability and availability to maintain mission performance and establish replacement strategies for Earth observation constellation satellites. In this study, a constellation reliability and availability model considering mission performance required for a satellite constellation, situations of satellite backup, and additional ground backups was established. The reliability model was structured based on the concept of a k-out-of-n system and the availability model used a Markov chain model. Based on the proposed reliability model, the minimum number of satellites required to meet mission requirements was defined and satellites needed in orbit during the required mission period to satisfy mission reliability were calculated. This research also analyzed the number of spare satellites in orbit and on the ground required to meet the desired availability during required service period through availability analysis.

  • Geofencing supports unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) operation by defining stay-in and stay-out regions. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has developed a prototype of the geofencing function, SAFEGUARD, which prevents stayout region violation by utilizing position estimates. Thus, SAFEGUARD depends on navigation system performance, and the safety risk associated with the navigation system uncertainty should be considered. This study presents a methodology to compute the safety risk assessment-based along-track position error bound under nominal and Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) failure conditions. A Kalman filter system using pseudorange measurements as well as pseudorange rate measurements is considered for determining the position uncertainty induced by velocity uncertainty. The worst case pseudorange and pseudorange rate fault-based position error bound under the GNSS failure condition are derived by applying a Receiver Autonomous Integrity Monitor (RAIM). Position error bound simulations are also conducted for different GNSS fault hypotheses and constellation conditions with a GNSS/INS integrated navigation system. The results show that the proposed along-track position error bounds depend on satellite geometries caused by UAV attitude change and are reduced to about 40% of those of the single constellation case when using the dual constellation.

  • The aim of this study is to find out how married women who had had an abortions experience a change through Family Constellation. The consequent changes will occur in the perception of an abortion experience and in the relation between married women themselves and their family. The participants in the study were 9 married women aged 40~60 who have experienced an abortion, and data collection was carried out over 3 periods which were before, right after and one month after the Family Constellation experience through individual in-depth interviews. The chief methodology of this study is based on the one by Colaizzi's phenomenological research, and by using the methodology to analyze the data 15 theme collections and 3 categories were deducted. According to the result of the analysis, the experience of abortion was having negative influence on the whole spectrum of the life of married women who experienced an abortion even though they did not consciously recall the relevant experiences. In the married women's Family Constellation, the agent visualizes the restrained relation which is hidden in unconsciousness and thereby offers an opportunity for married women to untie "knot". Moreover through this opportunity, married women are able to have new perception of their abortion experience and the relation between their family. Furthermore, not only will they be able to recover the relationship with their family, but also emotional stability.

  • We propose two new blind LMS and MMSE algorithms called projection-based least mean square (PB-LMS) and projection-based minimum mean square error (PB-MMSE) for smart antennas. Both algorithms employ the finite constellation property of digital signal to transform the conventional LMS and MMSE algorithms into blind algorithms. Computer simulations were carried out in the AWGN channel and Rayleigh fading channel with AWGN in CDMA environment to verify the performance of the two proposed algorithms.

  • Performance of the Alamouti algorithm based M-ary $2{\times}N$ OSTBC(Orthogonal Space Time Block Coded) MIMO(Multi Input Multi Output) system has been simulated varying two main parameters - the number of constellation(M), and the number of receiving antennas(N). Computer simulation has also been carried out using Matlab software for performance comparison between $2{\times}N$ MIMO and MRC(Maximal Ratio Combining) diversity antenna system to evaluate the degree of enhancement achieved through the use of Alamouti $2{\times}N$ MIMO. Under 10 dB EbNo QPSK scenario, $2{\times}1$ MIMO brought 4.2 dB BER improvement over single antenna system and $2{\times}2$ MIMO resulted in 7.4 dB BER improvement over $1{\times}2$ MRC.

  • With the global rise in interest in competency-based education, the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea outlined six core competencies in the 2015 revised curriculum, essential for future society's 'creative and convergent talent'. This study introduces an HTE-STEAM constellation education program designed to develop the core competencies outlined in the 2015 revised curriculum and address the limitations of hands-on astronomy education. The program's effectiveness was assessed through a pilot test. The program was implemented at G Library, an out-of-school education site in Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, targeting students from 3rd to 6th grade. The study's results include: First, the HTE-STEAM program significantly impacted all aspects of the STEAM attitude test except for 'self-concept', particularly influencing 'science and engineering career choice', 'consideration', and 'communication'. Thus, it has led to positive outcomes in the cultivation of future society's core competencies, including 'creative thinking skills', 'communication skills', and 'community skills'. Secondly, the HTE-STEAM constellation education program, despite covering the challenging concept of spacetime, was deemed easy by many students. Observations of students applying the spatial concepts they learned by using teaching aids suggest that the program was effective in enhancing students' understanding of the spatial structure of the sky and the universe. Additionally, this program aligns with the 2022 curriculum's updated standards for understanding the sky's spatial structure. Consequently, the HTE-STEAM constellation education program positively cultivates future society's core competencies and serves as a valuable complement to night observation practices in schools.

  • This paper investigates the most recent status of multi-GNSS, including technical features, types of ranging signals provided, and satellite constellation. Furthermore, a series of multi-GNSS positioning experiments in SPP mode were carried out to assess the achievable accuracy and continuity with an application to various positioning scenarios. A week of GNSS measurements each in 2018 and 2019 was acquired from the national geographical information institute and processed. The results show that a single GNSS-based scenario often encounters positioning blockage in the harsh operational environment, while multi-constellation cases are able to remedy this situation. The accuracy of multi-GNSS with a combination of GPS and Galileo is superior to that of other GNSS compositions due to the larger SISRE (Signal In Space Ranging Errors) of GLONASS and Beidou. Due to the different characteristics of GNSS SISRE, an issue has been raised to optimally integrate satellite measurements to maximize accuracy of multi-GNSS positioning.
