전자교환시스템 냉각을 위한 히트파이프 적용 연구 (A study on the application of heat pipe to the cooling of ATM switching system)

  • In the present study, the cooling package using the heat pipe has been developed to improve the thermal performance in the point of cooling characteristics of the electronic chip placed to the subrack being readily assembled and disassembled in ATM switching system. As the preliminary experiments, the cooling performances between a conventional way using a cooling fin and a proposed method applying the heat pipe are compared and analyzed. The cooling performance at a simulated electronic component packaging a heat pipe module is approximately achieved up to $5.0W/cm^2$ heat flux and the allowable temperature at the heated chip is sustained in the range within $70^{\circ}C$. From the results, it is confirmed that temperature oscillations are also settled by inserted wick in the evaporator section. From the user's viewpoint, the method to assemble and disassemble the heat pipe easily has been devised.

  • 본 논문은 마그네트론 대체를 위한 반도체 전력 발진기 모듈 설계에 관련된 내용을 기술하였다. 300급 LDMOS 단일 전력 증폭기의 특성을 확인하였고 두 개를 결합하여 모듈을 구성하였다. 결합된 모듈에 delay-line feedback loop을 구성하고 위상 천이기를 이용하여 위상을 조절하여 발진기를 구동시켰다. 발진기 모듈 측정 결과 주파수 2.327 GHz에서 출력 800 W, 효율 58 %로 측정되었다. 이 결과는 시뮬레이션 결과와 유사한 특성을 보여준다.

Optimum solar energy harvesting system using artificial intelligence

  • Renewable energy is promoted massively to overcome problems that fossil fuel power plants generate. One popular renewable energy type that offers easy installation is a photovoltaic (PV) system. However, the energy harvested through a PV system is not optimal because influenced by exposure to solar irradiance in the PV module, which is constantly changing caused by weather. The maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique was developed to maximize the energy potential harvested from the PV system. This paper presents the MPPT technique, which is operated on a new high-gain voltage DC/DC converter that has never been tested before for the MPPT technique in PV systems. Fuzzy logic (FL) was used to operate the MPPT technique on the converter. Conventional and adaptive perturb and observe (P&O) techniques based on variables step size were also used to operate the MPPT. The performance generated by the FL algorithm outperformed conventional and variable step-size P&O. It is evident that the oscillation caused by the FL algorithm is more petite than variables step-size and conventional P&O. Furthermore, FL's tracking speed algorithm for tracking MPP is twice as fast as conventional P&O.

밀리미터파 SiP 응용을 위한 기생 공진 모드 억제 (Suppression of Parasitic Resonance Modes for the Millimeter-Wave SiP Applications)

  • 본 논문에서는 저온 소성 세라믹(Low-Temperature Co-fired Ceramic: LTCC)에 기초한 밀리미터파 RF SiP(System-in-Package) 모듈 응용을 위하여, CBCPW(Conductor Backed CPW) 전송선과 스트립 라인 대역 통과필터(BPF)에서 기생적으로 발생하는 공진 모드들과 40 GHz 전력 증폭기 모듈의 발진 현상을 분석하고 이를 제거하기 위한 방법들을 제안하였다. CBCPW 구조에서의 기생 구형 도파관(RWG) 모드는 비아의 간격을 줄여 공진 주파수를 높게 하여 동작 주파수 내에서 완전히 억제하였다. 스트립 라인 구조에서는 마주 보는 비아 중한 쪽을 제거하여 대각선으로 비아를 배치함으로써 완전히 제거하였다. CBCPW의 마이크로스트립 패치 공진기 모드들을 제거하기 위하여, 갭을 통한 커플링을 감소시키기 위해 갭에 인접하게 비아를 배치하였다. 그 결과 기생 공진 모드들이 완전히 제거되었다. 40 GHz 대역의 능동 증폭기 모듈의 경우, 상호 연결(interconnection)불연속 효과로 발생한 방사에 의한 인한 누설(cross talk)을 억제하기 위해, LTCC 기판 내부에 내장된 DC 전원 배선과 CPW 전송선의 고 격리 구조를 사용하여 발진 현상을 개선하였다.

Front-End Module of 18-40 GHz Ultra-Wideband Receiver for Electronic Warfare System

  • In this study, we propose an approach for the design and satisfy the requirements of the fabrication of a small, lightweight, reliable, and stable ultra-wideband receiver for millimeter-wave bands and the contents of the approach. In this paper, we designed and fabricated a stable receiver with having low noise figure, flat gain characteristics, and low noise characteristics, suitable for millimeter-wave bands. The method uses the chip-and-wire process for the assembly and operation of a bare MMIC device. In order to compensate for the mismatch between the components used in the receiver, an amplifier, mixer, multiplier, and filter suitable for wideband frequency characteristics were designed and applied to the receiver. To improve the low frequency and narrow bandwidth of existing products, mathematical modeling of the wideband receiver was performed and based on this spurious signals generated from complex local oscillation signals were designed so as not to affect the RF path. In the ultra-wideband receiver, the gain was between 22.2 dB and 28.5 dB at Band A (input frequency, 18-26 GHz) with a flatness of approximately 6.3 dB, while the gain was between 21.9 dB and 26.0 dB at Band B (input frequency, 26-40 GHz) with a flatness of approximately 4.1 dB. The measured value of the noise figure at Band A was 7.92 dB and the maximum value of noise figure, measured at Band B was 8.58 dB. The leakage signal of the local oscillator (LO) was -97.3 dBm and -90 dBm at the 33 GHz and 44 GHz path, respectively. Measurement was made at the 15 GHz IF output of band A (LO, 33 GHz) and the suppression characteristic obtained through the measurement was approximately 30 dBc.

감마선 검출용 $HgI_2$ 소자 제작 및 특성 평가 (Fabrication and Test of a $HgI_2$ Gamma Ray Detector)

  • 상온에서 사용할 수 있는 감마선 검출 소자로서 $HgI_2$ 소자의 응용성을 판단하기 위하여 기상 성장법으로 $HgI_2$ 단결정을 성장시켰고 이를 이용하여 검출 소자를 제작한 후 감마선 검출 특성을 조사하였다 성장된 단결정의 비저항과 전하 운반자 포획 밀도는 상온에서 각각 $10^{11}{\Omega}\;cm$$1.8{\times}10^{14}/cm^3$였으며 단결정의 Photoluminescence를 측정한 결과 성장된 $HgI_2$ 단결정의 밴드갭의 온도계수는 20K부터 77K에서 $-1.53{\times}10^{-4}eV/K$였다. 감마선 검출실험 결과 제작된 $HgI_2$ 검출 소자는 상온에서 우수한 계수 특성과 시간에 대한 선형적 축적 계수 특성을 나타내었으나 온도변화에 따라 계수의 특성의 변화는 심하였다.

Si-Ge-H-Cl 계를 이용한 자기정렬 HBT용 Si 및 SiGe의 선택적 에피성장 (Selective Epitaxial Growth of Si and SiGe using Si-Ge-H-Cl System for Self-Aligned HBT Applications)

  • Low temperature selective epitaxial growth of Si and SiGe has been obtained using an industrial single wafer chemical vapor deposition module operating at reduced pressure. Epitaxial Si and heteroepitaxial SiGe deposition with Ge content about 20 % has been studied as extrinsic base for self-aligned heterojunction bipolar transistors(HBTs), which helps to reduce the parasitic resistance to obtain higher maximum oscillation frequencies(f$\_$max/). The dependence of Si and SiGe deposition rates on exposed windows and their evolution with the addition of HCl to the gas mixture are investigated. SiH$_2$Cl$_2$ was used as the source of Si SEG(Selective Epitaxial Growth) and GeH$_4$ was added to grow SiGe SEG. The addition of HCl into the gas mixture allows increasing an incubation time even low growth temperature of 675∼725$^{\circ}C$. In addition, the selectivity is enhanced for the SiGe alloy and it was proposed that the incubation time for the polycrystalline deposit on the oxide is increased probably due to GeO formation. On the other hand, when only SiGe SEG(Selective Epitaxial Growth) layer is used for extrinsic base, it shows a higher sheet resistance with Ti-silicide because of Ge segregation to the interface, but in case of Si or Si/SiGe SEG layer, the sheet resistance is decreased up to 70 %.

CSPACE for a simulation of core damage progression during severe accidents

  • CSPACE (Core meltdown, Safety and Performance Analysis CodE for nuclear power plants) for a simulation of severe accident progression in a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) is developed by coupling of verified system thermal hydraulic code of SPACE (Safety and Performance Analysis CodE for nuclear power plants) and core damage progression code of COMPASS (Core Meltdown Progression Accident Simulation Software). SPACE is responsible for the description of fluid state in nuclear system nodes, while COMPASS is responsible for the prediction of thermal and mechanical responses of core fuels and reactor vessel heat structures. New heat transfer models to each phase of the fluid, flow blockage, corium behavior in the lower head are added to COMPASS. Then, an interface module for the data transfer between two codes was developed to enable coupling. An implicit coupling scheme of wall heat transfer was applied to prevent fluid temperature oscillation. To validate the performance of newly developed code CSPACE, we analyzed typical severe accident scenarios for OPR1000 (Optimized Power Reactor 1000), which were initiated from large break loss of coolant accident, small break loss of coolant accident, and station black out accident. The results including thermal hydraulic behavior of RCS, core damage progression, hydrogen generation, corium behavior in the lower head, reactor vessel failure were reasonable and consistent. We demonstrate that CSPACE provides a good platform for the prediction of severe accident progression by detailed review of analysis results and a qualitative comparison with the results of previous MELCOR analysis.

  • 최근 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC 및 전자기기 등의 사용이 증가함에 따라 커버글라스의 수요가 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 모바일 기기의 디스플레이가 대형화되면서 접촉이나 낙하 등과 같이 외부에서 힘을 받게 되는 환경에서 높은 강도를 유지하는 것이 요구되고 있다. 커버글라스 제작 공정에서 연마공정은 커버글라스의 표면거칠기 및 충분한 강도를 제공하는 중요한 공정이다. 기존 연삭 숫돌에 의한 가공방법은 커버글라스 가공표면에 스크레치, 칩핑, 노칭 및 마이크로 크랙 등의 가공 문제점이 발생한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 모바일 커버글라스의 연마를 위해 연마필름을 이용한 폴리싱 시스템을 개발하였다. 구조적 안정성을 평가하기 위해 연마 필름 폴리싱 시스템에 대한 유한요소모델을 생성하였고 다물체 동역학 해석을 수행하였다. 연마 필름 폴리싱 시스템에 대한 응력 및 변위 해석을 통해 특성을 분석하였고 레이저 변위 센서를 이용해 제작된 시스템에 대한 변위를 측정하여 구조적 안정성에 대해 확인하였다.
