This rape deals with the experimental and theoretical investigations on the aerodynamic performance of the Wells turbine. The two-dimensional cascade theory is used to estimate the thrust and torque of turbine, and finally to yield an efficiency of turbine. The turbine is assumed to rotate with a constant rotational speed in a sinusoidally varying unsteady flow field. Experimental approach is made in a wave simulator, producing a sinusoidally reciprocating air flow corresponding to the wave motion in an Oscillating Water Column(OWC) chamber. Performance data of turbine measured at various operating conditions are analyzed and compared to numerical results in order to understand the overall features of a Wells turbine.

This study investigated heat transfer and flow characteristics of a sweeping jet issued from a rectangular nozzle with a thin plate. A thin vertical aluminum plate was attached on outlet of fluidic oscillator to increase velocity of central area with Coanda effect and enhance heat transfer performance. From visualization and PIV experiments, sweeping jet with a thin plate has larger velocity distribution in center region than that of the normal sweeping jet while oscillating frequency is similar as the normal one. Thermographic phosphor thermometry method was used to visualize the temperature field and Nu distribution of plate with impinging sweeping jet with thin plate. Four Reynolds numbers and three jet-to-wall distances were selected as parameters. It is found that heat transfer performance in the low jet-to-wall spacing was enhanced as the cooled area was expanded. However, when the jet-to-wall spacing became greater than 8dh, heat transfer performance became similar due to reduced impinging velocity.

An experimental study was performed in order to investigate the influence of Reynolds number on the drag coefficient variations of an oscillating airfoil. A NACA 0012 airfoil was sinusoidally pitched at the quarter chord point with an oscillating amplitude of ${\pm}6^{\circ}$. The free-stream velocities were 1.98, 2.83 and 4.03 m/s and the corresponding chord Reynolds numbers were $2.3{\times}10^4$, $3.3{\times}10^4$ and $4.8{\times}10^4$, respectively. The drag coefficient was calculated from the ensemble average velocity measured by an X-type hot-wire probe(X-type, 55R51) in the near-wakes region. In the case of Re=$2.3{\times}10^4$, variation of drag coefficient shows a negative damping (counter-clockwise variation), which implies an unstable state which could be excited by aerodynamic force, whereas the drag coefficient represents the positive damping (clockwise variation) as the Reynolds number increases from Re=$3.3{\times}10^4$ to $4.8{\times}10^4$. Hence, the drag coefficient variations show significant differences between Re=$2.3{\times}10^4$ and $4.8{\times}10^4$이다.
Numerical study is conducted to design the high temperature heat exchanger of Stirling engine by using the commercial CFD solver, FLUENT. The Fin-tube type of heat exchanger is designed as a reference model by considering the type of engine which is ${\beta}$-configuration. To find the optimal design of heat exchanger in heat transfer capacity numerical calculation is conducted by changing the shape, the number, and material of reference model in three-dimensional combustion field. Adjusted one-way constant velocity of working fluid that is helium is considered as the representative velocity of oscillating flow. The optimal design of heat exchanger considering the heat transfer capability is suggested by using the calculation results.
statement of problem The viscoelastic property is the most important and peculiar characteristics of soft liners. But the authorized standard is not certainly established than other dental materials. purpose of study This study is aimed to compare the initial flow of gelation of the modified soft liner with 4-META with that of PMMA soft liners using dynamic method and evaluate the clinical acceptance of the trial materials. materials and method This study consists of 3 groups with the given % of 4-META powder in the Coe soft liquid; 0%, 5%, 10% Each group was tested for 10 times to record the change of G′values during 3 hours. the gelation time was recorded by the oscillating rheometer with parallel plate with 1 rad/sec. results As the results of this study, the gelation time of modified soft liner was elongated by 5 to 6 minutes. conclusion The mean gelation time of modified soft liner could be within the range of clinically acceptable.
The present paper investigated the effect of ultrasonic vibrations on the melting process of phase-change materials (PCM). Furthermore, the present study considered constant heat-flux boundary condition, whereas many of the previous researches had adopted constant wall-temperature condition. The results of the present study revealed that ultrasonic vibrations accompanied the effects like acoustic streaming, cavitation, and thermally-oscillating flow. Such effects are a prime mechanism in the overall melting process when ultrasonic vibrations are applied. They speed up the melting process as much as 2.5 times, compared with the result of natural melting. Also, energy can be saved by applying ultrasonic vibrations to the natural melting. In addition, temperature and Nusselt numbers over time provided a conclusive evidence of the important role of ultrasonic vibrations on the melting phenomena.

It is known that an oscillating airfoil can Produce a driving force through the generation of a reversed $K\'{a}rm\'{a}n$ vortex street, and this can be expected to be a new highly effective propulsion system. The wake formation behind the heaving airfoil was visualized and was measured using PIV systems We have been examined various conditions such as frequency number, amplitude in NACA 0010. As Strouhal number is greater than 0.08. wake profile with velocity deficit can be transformed into the wake with velocity excess After evaluating vortex center flow patterns in the wake investigated using tracking trajectories in temporal evaluation of the shedding vortices. We also Presented the experimental results on the unsteady vortices structure of the heaving airfoil at various parameters.
Characteristics of self-excited combustion oscillation are experimentally studied using confined premixed flames stabilized by a rearward-facing step. A new idea to suppress combustion oscillation was applied to the flames. The characteristics of unsteady combustion were examined, which is driven by forced pulsating mixture supply that can modulate its amplitude and frequency. The self-excited combustion oscillation having weaker flow velocity fluctuation intensity than that of the forced pulsating supply can be suppressed by the method. The effects of the forced pulsation amplitude and frequency on controlling self-excited combustion oscillations were also investigated comparing with the steady mixture supply. The unsteady combustion used in this experiment plays an important role in controlling self-excited combustion oscillations, and it also exhibits desirable performances, from a practical point of view, such as high combustion load and reduced pollutant emissions of nitric oxide.

Mathematical modeling provided a systematic analysis for the dynamic behavior of stock fluid in a paper machine pressurized headbox. Dynamic responses of liquid level, sheet basis weight and hydraulic pressure were predicted from the simulation model which represents the system. A unit step and asinusoidal wave load were considered as the input forcing functions in the headbox. Results are summarized as follows : 1. The dependence of sheet basis weight on liquid level in the pressurized-headbox was non -linear. 2. Liquid level in the head-box showed first-order lag with a unit step forcing to fluid input rate ; 3 . The amplitude of wave response of liquid level was inversely proportional to the time content for the sinusoidal input changes ; 4.Sheet basis weight showed second-order oscillating underamped responses for the step input load of flow rate ; 5. The damping factor in the second-order system was a function of air-pressure in the headbox ; and, 6. Dead-time existed in the measuring process for the headbox slice pressure.
