Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the conservative treatment for FBSS patient. Method : We used Acupuncture, Beevenom, CHUNA manual therapy, Herbal medication, for this patient. And we measured of VNRS and ODI score to evaluate the conservative treatment effects. Result : Patient's LBP & Rt.leg pain VNRS and ODI score were decreased.

The aim of this study is to estimate clinical outcome of Conservative treatment for patients with Herniated Intervertebral Disc(HIVD) of lumbar spine. We investigated the 33 cases of Inpatients who were diagnosed as the HIVD of L-Spine and were treated Acupuncture therapy, Herb-medicine, Bee-vom treatment in Oriental Medicine Hospital from March 1, 2005 to November 31, 2005. We evaluated the subjective symptoms by Visual Analogue Scale, Hudgin's classification and follow-up of Activity Daily Living status. The improvement index showed that the oriental medical conservative therapy improved the symptom of HIVD effectively.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to report clinical effects of oriental medicine w~h conservative treatments including acupuncture, Chuna treatment and herbal medicine on a patient with low back pain and lower limb numbness caused by HIVD and schwannoma. Methods: The patient was diagnosed with HIVD and schwannoma through the MRI scan. This case was treated with acupuncture, Chuna treatment and herbal medicine during the whole admission period. We evaluated the progress of the symptoms with objective criteria such as NRS(Numerical Rating Scale), SLRT(Straight Leg Raising Test), ODI(Oswestry Disability Index) score and MMT(Manual Muscle Testing). Results and Conclusions: After weeks of conducting conservative treatment on patient with low back pain and lower limb numbness caused by HIVD and schwannoma occurred at the lumbar spine, significant improvements of the symptoms were seen. These results suggest that in the case of low back pain and lower limb numbness caused by HIVD and schwannoma, conservative treatments can be considered as one of the options of treating the symptoms beside surgical way.

The purpose of this study is to know recent studies about conservative treatment of osteoarthritis in knee joint. We reviewed and analyzed 71 theses published by korean research institution since 2000. These theses were classified by year, field of study and subject. The results of this study are as follows. 1. We found 24 oriental medical theses about osteoarthritis in knee joint since 2000. 2. Classified by the major field of study, the journal of korea acupuncture and moxibustion society accounted for 17 pieces in oriental medical journals. 3. In oriental medicine, the most subject is acupuncture(19 pieces). 13 pieces in it is about pharmacopuncture. 4. 47 theses are published in medical journals after 2000. 5. 35 associations dealt with this theme, the korean society of physical medicine is major. 6. Most subject is kinesitherapy, followed by pharmacotherapy, massotherapy, taping therapy, physiotherapy and insole. We found several therapies were effective through oriental and western medical theses. Combined oriental medicine and western conservative therapy like kinesitherapy make better effect on osteroarthritis of knee joint.

Objectives : To investigate the association between cigarette smoking and clinical outcomes of conservative treatment for lumbar herniated disc. Methods : We reviewed 74 male patients with lumbar herniated disc who were hospitalized at the Jaseng Oriental Medicine Hospital. 74 patients were divided into 2 groups(smokers, non-smokers) and we measured age, ODI score, SF-36 score, VAS. Results : Between smokers and non-smokers, statically significant differences were found in clinical symptoms on the time of 6 months later, effective scores of treatments, value of ODI and value of VAS on the time of 6 months later. And in these values of measurements, non-smokers were higher than those of smokers. Conclusion : These results suggest that possibility of the association between cigarette smoking and clinical outcomes of conservative treatment for lumbar herniated disc.

Objective : We studied the effect and possibility of the oriental medical conservative treatment on soft cervical disc herniation. Methods : From October.2001 to July. 2003, we observed 16 patients hospitalized because of soft cervical disc herniation diagnosed by Cervical M.R.I, symptoms and physical test. After treatment a standard of valuation was according to criteria of Robinson et al. Results : The clinical results were satisfactory as excellent in 4 case, good in 10 case, fair in 2 case. 87.5% of all were improved above good state. Conclusions : We considered that oriental medical conservative treatment has on useful effect on soft soft cervical disc herniation patient's treatment and recovery.

Objectives : The object is to study a clinical effect regarding the conservative treatment of the patient who was diagnosed as the herniated Intervertebral lumbar disc(HIVD) and hospitalized in the oriental medical hospital and clinical study about the type of the HIVD. Methods. The clinical studies were done on 65 cases (hospitalized in Dept. of Oriental Rehabilitation Medicine, jaseng on oriental medical hospital from June 2001 to May 2002) who complained of low back pain or sciatica and diagnosed as HIVD on CT(computerized tomography) or MRI(magnetic resonance imaging). They were given both oriental conservative treatment and exercise during the hospitalization period. We investigated and observed 20 items about sex, age, weight, height, occupation, smoking. obesity, duration of disease, clinical symptom and treatment duration in basis of medical recording which was drawn up at patient hospitalization. We classified HIVD with 4 types(Bulging. Protruded. Extruded, Sequestered) and decided the case which simultaneously had 2 overs with Mixed type. The treatment evaluation standard was classified with 4 branches; Excellent. Good, Fair and Poor. Results & Conclusions : The treatment result of over 'fair' is bulging type 85%, protruded type 92.7%, extruded type 100% and the mixed type was 85.1 %. The effect was good in order of bulging, mixed, protruded and extruded type. It appeared most plentifully with 30 people in L4-5 and L5-S 1 disc herniation type.

Objectives : This study was peformed to evaluate the effect of Chuna Traction, Correction and conservative treatment. Methods : The patient was diagnosed as cervical bulging disc, protrusion and Uncovertebral joint arthrosis through Cervical spine MRI and treated with conservative treatment(Chuna, Acupunture etc.). We measured Visual Analog Score(VAS) and Range Of Motion(ROM) to evaluate treatment effects. Results and Conclusions : ROM of Cervical spine has improved. VAS score was also decreased.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to research the trend of the theses related to conservative treatment of spinal scoliosis and to establish the direction of futher studies into the spinal scoliosis Methods : We reviewed and analyzed all theses published by Korean research institution. And these theses were classified by field of study, theses type, symptoms and illnesses, evaluation methods, treatment type, clinical outcome. Result and conclusion : 1. Classified by the major field of study, oriental rehabilitation medicine and physical education accounted for 9 papers, followed by 6 in orthopedics medicine. 2. Upon classifying theses according to research method type, clinical trial theses were more than casuistic theses. 3. Upon classifying theses according to symptoms and illnesses in scoliosis, the most was idiopathic scoliosis. 4. Theses used mostly Cobb's angle for evaluating in scoliosis. 5. Some few of theses used chuna therapy for treating in scoliosis. 6. Chuna therapies side by side with correction exercises were the most efficient for treating in scoliosis.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the conservative treatment for supraspinatus tendinitis with kyphotic cervical curvature patient. Methods : We used chuna, Herbal medication, Acupuncture, Bee Venom Acupuncture, Physical Therapy for this patient. And we measured of VAS score, ROM and Extent of the subjective symptoms of shoulder pain to evaluate treatment effects. Result : Patient's shoulder pain and cervical curvature has improved. VAS score and Extent of the subjective symptoms of shoulder pain score were also decreased.
