  • Cough is a very common and largely recurrent childhood respiratory disease. In Korean medicine, Zhudanxi(矢丹溪), was the first to classify cough according to the different stages of time. In this research, I examined the stage of Nocturnal Cough(晨嗽) which refers to cough that occurs at dawn. Indigestion is classified as the cause with SaBaek-san proscribed as the treatment for such cough. In this research, twenty five children who had coughing at dawn with abdominal symptoms were treated with Sabaek-san-kamibang and then examined for cough, abdominal symptoms and other related symptoms. As a result, there was a statistically notable decrease in cough, abdominal symptoms and other symptoms such as nasal discharge, sputum, constipation, vomiting and cough. In addition, of the twenty five patients found with acute cough and those with moderate cough with abdominal symptoms showed good clinical results upon completion of treatment.

  • Objectives The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Hominis Placenta Pharmacopuncture(HPP) for patients with asthma. Methods We treated three patients who have asthma with HPP. To check the effect of HPP we used CAMSOM-V. To check the satisfaction of HPP we used Five-point Likert scale. Results After treatment symptoms were improved. CAMSOM-V decreased in all cases. The Likert scale points were checked 5 and 4 and 4. Conclusions In this study, we have found the meaning of the research that HPP, in the future will be efficacious against asthma.

Pressure injury was followed up with photographs. Results: On the 22nd day of treatment (26 days after the debridement and local flap), redness, swelling, and the condition of pressure injury were all improved. Moreover, the condition of the pressure injury was good without dressing. Conclusions: These results show that traditional Korean medicine may have a positive effect on a pressure injury and improve the quality of life of cancer patients. • Objective : This study investigated the relationship between warning signs and Sasang constitution (SC) in acute stroke patients. Methods : From October in 2005 to March in 2007, 629 acute stroke patients were studied. Patients were hospitalized within 14 days after the onset ofstroke at one of 3 oriental medical hospitals in Seoul and Kyong-gi province. We assessed the type of SC of acute stroke patients by Questionnaire for Sasang Constitution Classification II (QSCC II). We investigated warning signs (motor weakness, blindness, dysarthria, sensory disturbance, finger dullness, facial & eyelid spasm, neck stiffness), general characteristics, etc. Results : This study showed a higher proportion of Tae-eum & So-eum experience upper extremity sensory disturbance but So-yangexperience lower extremity sensory disturbance. Smoker So-eumexperience 1st & 2nd finger dullness more than non-smoker So-eum. So-eum women experience motor weakness more than So-eum men. Conclusion : Besides these results, we could observe almost no relationship between warning signs and Sasang constitution (SC) in acute stroke patients. More data from prospective cohort studies will help people better understand the relationship between warning signs and Sasang constitution (SC) in acute stroke patients.

  • Objectives : Jakyakgamcho decoction is a traditional prescription known to be an effective pain control medication and muscle relaxant. For more localized treatment outcomes achieved in a shorter period of time, Jakyakgamcho decoction was reprocessed into a form of pharmacopuncture. An analysis of Jakyakgamcho decoction pharmacopuncture showed that there was a significant loss of paeoniflorin(Jakyak's index component). This study was designed to investigate ways to minimize this loss. Methods : After making changes to the processing methods of Jakyakgamcho decoction pharmacopuncture, we measured the quantity of paeoniflorin using high performance liquid chromatography(HPLC) for a before-and-after analysis Results : Paeoniflorin loss was observed 15 minutes after sterilization with $Na_2HPO_4$ at $121^{\circ}C$ Conclusions : It was found that paeoniflorin loss did not occur when pH was not controlled for during processing.

  • Objectives This study is planned to classify effectiveness of Korean medicine treatment on lumbar intervertebral Disc herniation patients' fear-avoidance belief. Methods We measured 84 patients with lumbar intervertebral disc herniation in Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital. We used numeric rating scale, oswestry disability index, fear-avoidance belief questionaire for evaluating effectiveness of oriental medicine treatment on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation. And We used Magentic Resonance Imaging(MRI) for classifying the patient who has lumbar intervertebral disc or not. Results 1. There was statistical effectiveness of korean medicine treatment on lumbar intervertebral disc herniation patients' fear-avoidance belief (p<0.01). ${\Delta}NRS$ and ${\Delta}ODI$ (r=0.587) was Most statistically correlative. ${\Delta}ODI$ and ${\Delta}FABQ$ had a little of statistically correlation (r=0.313). ${\Delta}NRS$ and ${\Delta}FABQ$ has no statistically correlation (r=0.145). Conclusions This study suggests that screening for the korean medicine treatment reduces fears and negative belief of patients with the lumbar disc herniation and prevents chronic physical symptoms that come from them so that it can be a great help to controlling patients' pain clinically.
