Sense-Making in Identity Construction Revisited: Super Tuscan Wines and Invalidated Institutional Constraints

  • This paper examined seemingly well-working compromises in identity construction, questioning whether the compromises could function only nominally in practice. The literature has paid attention to the conflicts which end up functionally sense-making, through either unilaterally enforced or mutually assimilated compromises. In contrast, this paper's analysis of Super Tuscan wines under the Italian government's quality regulation illustrated that the compromises between wineries and classification systems do not work well and make the classification systems meaningless in the end. This study thus argued that compromises in identity construction do not always result in functionally sense-making outcomes: they could be only nominal. This study suggested that idiosyncratic institutional contexts, such as weak organizational legacy, affect the results of identity construction in functional terms. At last, the theoretical and practical implications both in organization and management of this study were well discussed.

  • Advanced system architectures or frameworks proposed by researchers are usually verified by implementing their prototype systems, but it is very difficult to integrate them with operating legacy systems to show their applicability. Thus, a test bed approach is widely adopted to provide a system environment that imitates the operations of real legacy systems and their interactions. In this paper, we introduce our experiences to implement a test bed as a system environment on which we have implemented a prototype system to verify our studies for process information sharing. The test bed simulates simultaneously operating workflow systems and their interactions. We also show the result of the prototype system that was Implemented on the test bed.

  • Federated process framework is introduced responding to market\\`s needs to gain benefits of process information sharing in a virtual enterprise. The framework is verified by implementing its prototype system. However, it is very difficult to integrate developed prototype system with operating legacy systems to show its applicability. Thus, a test bed approach is widely adopted to provide a system environment that imitates the operations of real legacy systems and their interactions. In this paper, we described implementation detail of test bed imitating the real-world workflow systems. We also show its contribution and results of the prototype system that was implemented on the test bed.

지식 창조적 조직메모리에 관한 연구 (A Study of Knowledge Creating Organizational Memory)

  • 본 연구에서는‘조직지식중심적 지식경영’을 위해 지식창조원리로서 음양이론을 도입하여 영역지식 (陽의 지식)과 업무지식(陰의 지식)이 음양(陰陽)의 순환적 구조로서 상호 작용하여 조직지식으로 창출되는 과정을 저장하여 재활용하기 위한 지식 창조적 조직메모리를 제안하였다. 지식 창조적 조직메모리 구축을 위하여 객체 지향적 방법론을 적용하여 영역지식과 업무지식의 순환적 흐름을 주도하는 3개 지식 컴퍼넌트를 설정하여 조직지식을 설계하였다. 조직지식은 기존의 정보시스템에 포함된 데이터베이스 스키마. 프로세스 모델 또는 지식베이스의 의미네트워크(Semantic Network), 프레임(Frame) 등을 수용하기 위해 (i) 지식객체와 (ⅱ) 객체간의 관계 및 (ⅲ) 관계정도를 정의한 그래프구조로서 설계하였다. 이러한 조직지식의 설계는 지식마이닝 기법인 사례기반추론(Case Based Reasoning)등을 활용한 새로운 조직지식의 생성에 기여할 수 있다.

기업가의 창업위치선택과 클러스터의 성장동력: 바이오벤처의 창업을 중심으로 (Location Decisions of Startups and Dynamics of Cluster Growth)

  • 본 논문은 벤처기업가의 창업위치결정에 대한 분석을 통해 기업집적의 전략적도구로 인정되는 클러스터의 성장 동력을 체계적으로 분석했다. 한 기업가의 창업위치 결정은 '전략적 사안'으로서, 다음의 세 가지 동력의 상호작용에 의해 작동함을 도출하였다. 그 세가지 동력은 창업위치에 본질적으로 담겨진 효용과 비용의 편차, 신규 진입기업의 연구개발 역량, 클러스터에 이미 진입해 있는 기존기업의 연구개발 역량 등이다. 본 논문은 신생기업의 입장이 클러스터에 진입하는 것에 존재하는 긍정적인 면과 부정적인 면을 제안하면서 연구가설을 도출하였다. 그 긍정적인 면은 기존기업의 지식 스필오버에 의한 지식학습 효과이며, 부정적인 면은 지식뺏김 효과이다. 이 양 측면에 대한 전략적 결정에 의해 창업위치가 결정되고, 거시적으로는 클러스터의 성장 여부가 결정됨을 가설로 설정했다. 한국 바이오 벤처기업 710개를 실증대상으로 선정해서, 앞서 설정한 논리에서 도출된 연구가설들을 검증하였다. 실증분석에서 발견은, 조직유산과 클러스터의 경쟁상황에 의해 비용과 효과가 달라진다는 점, 그리고 클러스터에서 작동하는 협력규범의 존재 등에 의해 신생기업이 클러스터에서 창업하게 됨을 발견하였다. 결론적으로 신생기업에게 전달되는 지식 스필오버 효과가 클 때 기업집적 효과가 증가하며, 클러스터가 성장하게 됨을 확인하였다.

A Study on Influence of Corporate Factor and ITO Range Factor on Outsourcing Performance -Moderating Effect of Supplier Suitability

  • This study analyzes the relative importance of the introducing factors for the critical success factors in the implementation stage of the lifecycle of ERP system using Delphi technique and Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP). In the 1st layer of the hierarchy, technical factor is evaluated as the most important factor among organizational, technical, and supplier factors. In the 2nd layer, choosing a proper ERP package is evaluated as the most important factor within 15 factors followed by process-oriented approach, technical suitability, minimized customization, integration and association of system with trading parter, association with legacy systems, and support and involvement of top management. As a result of this analysis enterprise should choose an ERP package that is suitable to its business environment, and make the best use of(take full advantage of) best practice that ERP package provides to optimize the existing business procedure or process(to approach the existing business procedure or process). This study also shows the range of customization of the features provided by the ERP package should be minimized.

  • 급변하는 경영 환경 속에서 기업이 생존하기 위해서는 환경변화에 대하여 효과적이고 신속하게 대응하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 환경변화에 적절하게 대응하기 위한 접근방안의 하나로서 기업은 다양한 비즈니스 룰과 관련지식을 개발하여 활용하여 왔으며 정보시스템을 통해 이를 구현하고자 노력하고 있다. 하지만 기업이 사용하고 있는 기존의 정보시스템 대부분은 기업이 보유하고 있는 비즈니스 룰을 적시에 적절하게 활용하거나 체계적으로 관리하는데 있어서 한계를 지니고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 한계를 극복하기 위한 솔루션으로서 비즈니스 룰 엔진(BRE: Business Rule Engine)의 도입을 제안하며 "W" 투자증권의 실제 구현사례를 통해 조직민첩성에 미치는 효과를 분석한다.

  • Effective energy consumption now becomes one of the area of knowledge management which potentially gives global impact. It is considerable for the energy management to optimize the usage of energy, rather than decreasing energy consumption at any cases. To resolve these challenges, an intelligent and personalized system which helps the individuals control their own behaviors in an optimal and timely manner is needed. So far, however, since the legacy energy management systems are nation-wide or organizational, individual-level energy management is nearly impossible. Moreover, most estimating methods of energy consumption are based on forecasting techniques which tend to risky or analysis models which may not be provided in a timely manner. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a novel individual-level energy management system which aims to realize timely and personalized energy management based on context-aware computing approach. To do so, an index model for energy consumption is proposed with a corresponding service framework.

그룹 아이디어 제너레이션을 위한 시뮬레이션 알고리즘의 개발 (Group Idea Generation and Simulation)

  • Electronic brainstorming (EBS) to improve the process and outcomes of group decision making is an artifact of Information Systems legacy. Despite three decades of research with EBS in an effort to become a key resource of organizational performance, its performance when compared to that of nominal is inconclusive because of the recent debate over its usefulness in terms of productivity. Subsequent researchers have directed our attention to the re-examination of cognitive stimulation, which is considered the major benefit in computer-based idea generation, to explain the performance singularity in computer-based groups. While both cognitive and motivational factors that moderate and mediate the group-interaction process remain unexplored, individual differences that are tightly linked to creative behavior have been largely ignored to account for the discrepancy in performance. Since simulations have been widely used in situations where an outcome does not meet the assumptions, the notion of a group simulator and detailed simulation mechanisms are introduced to examine the potential effects of individual differences on the performance of computer-based idea generation groups. In addition, two prior studies that empirically explored cognitive mechanisms with the group simulator are showcased along with six propositions to initiate future research.
