Critical Success Factors for Integration of Knowledge Management and e-Learning from LG Electronics Company's Experiences (지식경영과 e러닝 통합의 성공요인에 대한 연구 - LG전자 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • The LG Electronics case shows the process whereby an organization evolves as a learning organization through the integration of e-learning and knowledge management. In other words, it shows the process whereby e-learning is recognized as an important means of solving a problem concerning actual worksite operations, as it became one of the daily activities in the organization. In terms of organizational learning, this process points to the fact that e-learning is emerging as the fastest and most effective means of transferring the internally shared value of a company. Recently, advanced corporations and organizations have been endeavoring to boost their internal and external customer satisfaction and customer loyalty, paving the way for changes in their organizational cultures, and establishing learning organizations through e-learning. Therefore, from an advanced viewpoint, e-learning within a company is not a simple system of transferring educational contents, but is a knowledge portal concept connected with knowledge management. To achieve this end, the organization is required to undergo changes that is, it should make the acquisition of learning possible through e-learning and a knowledge management system (KMS) in order to improve corporate performance. Since LG Electronics is utilizing e-learning as a strategic means to change the paradigm of corporate education, and, in particular, is attempting to integrate this with knowledge management, insights that will facilitate the understanding of the core success factors in and challenges to the integration of knowledge management and e-learning can be obtained through this case.

  • The main purpose of this research is to introduce PsyCap(Positive Psychological Capital) and new leadership helping ordinary people to create positive thinking and leading to social integration in South Korea. Additionally, by looking at conventional leadership theories and by applying the PsyCap to leadership based on causal loop analysis, this study is to seek new approach which political leader is able to communicate with the people and can help the people to build positive mine. Throughout this study, there are several important implications how political leader can lead to social integration and stable political development in South Korea. In particular, when political leader encourage the people to have confidence to take on and put in the necessary effort to succeed at challenging tasks, when political leader make the people a positive attribution (optimism) about succeeding now and in the future, when political leader help the people to persevere toward goals and redirection paths to goals (hope) in order to succeed, and when political leader make the people beset by problems and adversity environment to overcome these concerns, it can be expected political leader to build social integration and the people to create positive thinking which has been emphasized by political leader in South Korea. Finally, 21st century has required new political leadership that the people are able to make positive psychological capital composed by optimism, hope, confidence, and resilience.

Influence of Communication on Acquired Company Members in the PMI Process : Moderation Effect of the Business Area Consistency between Acquiring and Acquired Company (PMI과정에서 피인수기업 구성원에 대한 의사소통의 영향력 : 인수기업과 피인수기업 간의 사업영역의 일치도의 조절효과)

  • Post-merger integration(PMI) plays a very important role in the success of M&A. Therefore, based on previous studies on PMI, this study discusses the relationship between communication of acquired enterprise members and uncertainty reduction, organizational satisfaction, organizational trust in the PMI process, focusing on the moderating effect of business area consistency between the acquisition and the acquired company. In order to achieve the purpose of this study, the hypothesis of the relationship between variables was established and an empirical analysis was conducted. In order to collect data, a survey was conducted on members of the acquired company in China, and 317 questionnaires were finally collected and used for empirical analysis. For the collected data, the research hypothesis was verified using SPSS 26.0. The results of the study confirmed that communication has a positive effect on the reduction of uncertainty, job satisfaction, and organizational trust perceived by members of the acquired company, and that the consistency in business areas between the acquisition and the acquired company weakens the relationship between communication and uncertainty. In the positive relationship between communication and job satisfaction, organizational trust, the effect of strengthening the moderating variable has not been confirmed, but rather the weakening control effect was found. Based on these findings, the strategy of communicating with the members of the acquired company in the PMI process is meaningful for the success or failure of the merger and provides theoretical and practical implications for proposing differentiated human resources management measures according to M&A type.

Vertical Integration and Its Performance - An Empirical Analysis on Korean Listed Corporations - (수직결합과 시장성과 간의 관련성 연구 - 한국 상장기업을 중심으로 -)

  • Firms or internal exchanges exist to eliminate or at least reduce transaction costs from the separating process in many firms by dealing more efficiently with bounded rationality, complexity, and tendency towards opportunism faced by the markets so that vertical integration is supposed to have a positive relationship with performance. The organizational structure of Korean economy in the latter part of the $20^{th}$ century is much related with this transaction costs' view. I propose to estimate the effect of vertical integration on the firm's performance using the data of the Korean listed corporations from 1991 to 1995, therefore. The estimated results show that vertical integration at firm level is negatively and significantly related with the firm's performance: the higher level of vertical integration the worse performance. However, the group level integration is not related with performance at all.

  • The purpose of this study aimed to examine relations between conflict management method and organization of private security companies. 286 guards who worked at security compromies in Seoul in 2010 were selected by using the method of judgment sampling and 279 guards were used for analysis. Reliability of questionnaire used for this study was over .642 in value of Cronbach's $\alpha$. Collected data was analyzed by using factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, F-test, multiple regression analysis and SPSSWIN 17.0. The result is as follows. First, conflict management method for security guards is different depending on socio-demographic features. Second, organizational performance of security guards is different depending on socio-demographic features. Third, conflict management method of security guards has effect on organizational performance. The higher the method of managing conflict through integration, compromise, favor and governance, the higher cohesion, organizational immersion and job satisfaction.

  • This paper aims to provide a context-specific interpretation on the shifting process of in-house R&D spaces in a large Korean firm in the context of rapidly changing markets and technology. Drawing on the case study of LG Electronics Company, one of the Korea's flagship companies, I examine the causes and mechanisms leading to a shift in domestic R&D spaces and the nature of learning processes between R&D teams and between R&D and other organizational units, particularly manufacturing. It appears that the current reshaping processes of domestic R&D spaces in LGE focus more on the clustering of core R&D laboratories than the geographical integration of conception and execution. However, it should not simply be viewed that such a move would be reduced to the linear model of innovation and organizational learning. Instead, it involves the firm-specific mode of regulating organizational competences. As contextual variables to induce such a firm-specific mode of organizational change, I consider the spatial form of organization, the spatial sources of knowledge and learning, and the powers of relational learning that can be made between distanciated actors and teams.

  • Purpose The importance of data as a key resource of the intelligence revolution is being highlighted, among all those phenomena MyData is attracting attention as a key concept by organizations and individuals that eventually leads the data economy. In this regard, this study was started to contribute to the successful settlement and continuous growth of the domestic MyData industry, which has just entered the system. Design/methodology/approach To develop and test all proposed casual relationships within the research model, we used the Value-Attitude-Behavior(VAB) model as a basic framework. A total of 385 copies were used for the final analysis, and for SPSS 25.0, MS-Excel 2016, and AMOS 24.0 to summarize respondent demographic characteristics, measurement model, and structural model. Findings Findings show that all proposed hypotheses were supported with the exception of the moderating effect of organizational information transparency between data controllability and perceived value, and between data controllability and attitude toward MyData service.

  • The inter-organizational business process is one of the hot issues in B2B e-commerce. In this paper, through the survey of the inter-organizational business process integration and the analysis of B2Bi related standards, e.g., BPML, WSDL, WSCI, and BPSS, we propose a method of linking BPML and BPSS specifications that can be used to integrate private processes with the public processes among enterprises. We also suggest an application example of the method by redefining a PIP of RosettaNet to the BPSS specification. The basic principle of the method is to maintain the independency of the existing BPML and BPSS applications and to construct an intermediary transformation module between the two applications.

  • One of the roles of the Semantic Web services is to execute dynamic intra-organizational services including the integration and interoperation of business processes. Since different organizations design their processes differently, the retrieval of similar semantic business processes is necessary in order to support inter-organizational collaborations. Most approaches for finding services that have certain features and support certain business processes have relied on some type of logical reasoning and exact matching. This paper presents our approach of using imprecise matching fur expanding results from an exact matching engine to query the OWL MIT Process Handbook. In order to use the MIT Process Handbook for process retrieval experiments, we had to export it into an OWL-based format. We model the Process Handbook meta-model in OWL and export the processes in the Handbook as instances of the meta-model. Next, we need to find a sizable number of queries and their corresponding correct answers in the Process Handbook. We devise diverse similarity algorithms based on values of process attributes and structures of business processes. We perform retrieval experiments to compare the performance of the devised similarity algorithms.

  • Organizational decision support systems(ODSS) are a new type of decision support systems(DSS) focusing on the organization-wide issues rather than individual, group, or departmental issues. Because of its organization-wideness, which means an ODSS cuts across organizational functions or hierarchical layers, seamless integration with organization's diverse IS applications running on heterogeneous platforms becomes a critical issue. In this paper, we analyzed the Korea Telecom(KT)'s Operations & Maintenance(O&M) division focusing on its investment strategies. We developed a conceptual framework which links O&M investment to its performance. We also developed a prototype of KTOM-ODSS with an EIS-like user-friendly interface.
