Methods: We used data of 1,630 cardiovascular disease patients (including hypertension, stroke, and myocardial infarction) from the 7th Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016-2018). The χ2 test and logistic regression analysis were performed to analyze the oral hygiene device use by the subjects and assess related factors. All statistical analyses were performed with the IBM SPSS Statistics, version 20.0. Results: The oral hygiene device use and related factors were significantly higher in patients with an educational level of middle school or below high school, with a score of 1.85 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.35-2.53), or college, with a score of 1.93 (95% CI = 1.19-3.14), compared to those with an educational level below primary school. Further, the oral hygiene device use and related factors were significantly higher in patients who answered 'yes', with a score of 1.96 (95% CI = 1.42-2.73), compared to those who answered 'no' to the question on oral examination. Conclusions: More patients with cardiovascular disease did not use oral hygiene devices than those who did. It is necessary to expand the approach of preventive treatment to increase the utilization rate of oral hygiene devices.

The stronger health oral belief means higher score in susceptibility, severity, benefit and salience, but the higher score in barrier means stronger recognition in obstacle. Results: There was significant correlation between susceptibility and experience of not-treated oral disease (OR [odds ratio] 2.40; 95% CI [confidence interval] 1.73-3.34)' and 'dental caries (OR 2.36; 95% CI 1.25-4.45)'. Benefit had significant correlation with 'visiting dental clinic (OR 1.58; 95% CI 1.14-2.19)'. Salience had significant correlation with 'experience of not-treated oral disease (OR 0.70; 95% CI 0.52-0.94)'. Barrier had significant correlation with 'visiting dental clinic (OR 0.73; 95% CI 0.56-0.95)' and 'removing oral plaque (OR 0.71; 95% CI 0.52-0.95)'. There was no significant correlation between oral health belief and 'using of oral hygiene device' or 'regular tooth brushing'. Conclusions: Diverse oral health behaviors were affected by susceptibility, benefit, salience and barrier in oral health belief. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antibacterial effect of the low temperature atmospheric plasma device with needle tip designed for easy approach to the oral cavity and root canal against Streptococcus mutans, Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans. The antibacterial activities evaluated by measuring clear zone of agar plate smeared with each bacteria after plasma treatment. To quantify antibacterial effects, dilution plate method was used. In addition, scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used for observation of changes in bacterial morphology. As treatment time of plasma increased, the clear zone was enlarged. The death rate was more than 99%. The SEM results showed that the globular shape of bacteria was distorted. These results suggest that needle tip plasma could be an innovative device for prevention of dental caries, and treatment of apical infection and soft tissue diseases.
Objectives: This study aimed to identify the level of digital oral health literacy among Korean adults in Gangwon-do. Methods: A survey was conducted through face-to-face interviews with adults aged 30-89 residing in Gangwon-do, South Korea. The independent variables were socio-demographic characteristics, including gender, age, education level, income, and occupation. The dependent variable was digital oral health literacy. The statistical analysis included Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis, all performed using the SPSS 27.0 software program. Results: The elderly and those with poor socioeconomic status (p<0.001) had lower average scores due to poor digital oral health literacy. The ease of searching for oral health information and the utilization of digital devices to search for information on oral health displayed a significant relationship (r=0.730, p<0.001). To develop the use of digital devices, simplifying the search for oral information (p<0.001) is essential. Conclusions: All socio-demographic characteristics, except gender, displayed a correlation with the level of digital oral health literacy. Both environmental and individual aspects of the respondents' living conditions must be considered to improve digital oral health literacy.
