  • Zygomatic fractures are the second most common fractures of the facial skeleton, after nasal bone fractures. Due to its uniqueness, the malar bone plays a very important role in maintaining appropriate facial contours. Zygomatic fractures can cause ocular and mandibular functional impairment, along with cosmetic defects. With the help of advanced imaging techniques and various treatment options, the management of zygomatic fractures has become more sophisticated and less invasive. This article discusses zygomatic fractures in detail: their clinical and radiographic features, and the various treatment options available.

  • BOM(Bill of Material) is a description of parts, assemblies and raw materials that comprise a product structure. In manufacturing companies that produce various products with short life cycles, it is very important to manage to BOM of products with various options and versions efficiently. This paper describes an effective modeling and implementing technique of Generic BOM Management System(GBMS) for management of number of variant products. In this paper, OMT(Object Modeling Technique) was used to model a generic BOM and Object-Relational Database Management System(ORDBMS) was used to implement the GBMS database. In order to prove the effectiveness of proposed methodology, a case that assembles computer with various options was studied.

Using Real Options to value the flexibility of Engineering Management decisions in Infrastructure Projects

  • Determining on a particular construction method is typically decided in the initial phases of a project. However, changing conditions during actual construction may require a different method or technology to be employed. Providing an option for project managers to change construction provides flexibility that can increase value to the overall project. This research provides the ability to modify construction methods as a real option, which allows its value to be modeled. The research also formalizes a way to integrate a binomial lattice model with the Earned Value Method's S-curve. The integrated model provides a decision support tool that planners can use to determine whether to exercise the option depending on the status metrics provided by EVM.

BARRIER OPTIONS UNDER THE MFBM WITH JUMPS : APPLICATION OF THE BDF2 METHOD

  • In this paper we consider a mixed fractional Brownian motion (mfBm) with jumps. The prices of European barrier options can be evaluated by solving a partial integro-differential equation (PIDE) with variable coefficients, which is derived from the mfBm with jumps. The 2-step backward differentiation formula (BDF2 method) proposed in [6] is applied with the second-order convergence rate in the time and spatial variables. Numerical simulations are carried out to observe the convergence behaviors of the BDF2 method under the mfBm with the Kou model.

  • In this study, pre-postprocessing toolbox is developed to perform elasto-plastic analyze of underground structures with transient ground water flow. This toolbox is composed of three modules. The first is the data input processor for the structural analysis. The preprocessing Is using GUI (Graphic User Interface), which is consist of dialog box, pull down, and short-cut icon, etc. The second is the structural analysis module. The analysis is based on the elasto-plastic finite element method involving additional options such as ground excavation effect, transient ground water flow, and rock bolts behavior. The last is the postprocessing module. The postprocessing is able to verify the result of the structural analysis by the graphical simulation which visualizes the element mesh, the node displacements, the element stress states, the stress contour, the ground water surface, and the rock bolt stresses. Since various options are considered separately in this toolbox, it is easy to modify the module of each processing, and to update other functional modules for the given analysis conditions.

시스템다이내믹스와 복합 리얼옵션 기반 신·재생에너지 기술가치평가 (On Renewable Energy Technology Valuation Using System Dynamics and Compound Real Options)

  • The transition from fossil to renewable energy is inevitable due to fossil depletion. So, Renewable energy is very important for energy security and economic growth although it's R&D is long-term and high risky project. We propose new valuation method which combined system dynamics and compound real option method for long-term and high risk projects such as renewable energy. This method can show dynamic valuation results for the complex causal interaction and be easy for Monte-Carlo simulation to estimate volatility. And it can reflect the value of flexible decision for uncertainty. We applied the empirical analysis for Korea's photovoltaic industry by using this method. As results by empirical analysis, photovoltaic's R&D has high valuation using this method compared by traditional valuation methods such as DCF.

  • 본 연구에서는 견고한 멀티 쓰레드 소프트웨어 개발을 돕기 위한 쓰레드 모니터링 시스템을 개발하였다. 이 시스템은 쓰레드 실행 과정과 동기화 과정를 시각적으로 추적, 모니터링 할 수 있다. 또한 사용자는 실행 전에 옵션 선택을 통해 관심 있는 쓰레드와 동기화만을 선택하여 이들을 중점적으로 모니터링 할 수 있으며 실행 후에는 실행된 쓰레드와 동기화의 특징을 요약한 프로파일 정보를 제공한다. 본 연구에서는 코드 인라인 기법을 기반으로 이 시스템을 구현하였으며 실험을 통한 실험 결과를 통해 그 효융성을 보인다.

Option을 고려한 객체지향형 Product Structure 설계 (The Object-Oriented Design of the Product Structure Based on Options)

  • As a product structure or BOM(bill of material) of products is hierarchically structured, the design based on the concept of relational data base modeling causes low performances in data search or processing. For this reason, an object-oriented approach to designing a product structure is proposed in this paper. Using Rumbaugh's OMT (Object Modeling Technique) method, classes of parts, BOM structure, options, and models are defined and their class-relationship diagrams are proposed. For the representation of the BOM structure suitable for the object-oriented paradigm, a new data architecture called the BOM item class is suggested. It is expected that the proposed data structure ensures better reusability and expandability due to the modularity.

  • As for the travel demand analysis of the past, forcasting has been conducted by the use of revealed preference(RP) informations about actual or observed choices made by individuals. Forcasting method using RP data needs implicit assumptions that there will be no remarkable changes in existing transport conditions. However in case of occuring the great changes in existing conditions or adding a new choice-set of hypothetical options, it is very difficult to predict future travel demand. Fortunately in recent years, especially in the mode choice analysis, it has been perceived that the importance of individual performance data using stated preference(SP) experiments as well as RP data. But the research reports has not been reported sufficiently from models estimated using SP data. Under this background, we analyze the factors affecting the mode choice behavior as a fundamental study against the modelling task with SP choice data. For this analysis, we assumed subway operations in the secondary cities where there are no subway lines until now, and set up a choice-set of hypothetical options based on Experimental Design Method.

  • Most real world design evaluation and risk-based decision support combine quantitative and qualitative (linguistic) variables. Decision making based on conventional mathematics that combines qualitative and quantitative concepts always exhibit difficulty in modelling actual problems. The successful selection process for choosing a design/procurement proposal is based on a high degree of technical integrity, safety levels and low costs in construction, corrective measures, maintenance, operation, inspection and preventive measures. In this paper, a design decision support framework using a composite structure methodology grounded in approximate reasoning approach and evidential reasoning method is suggested for design evaluation of machinery space of a ship engine room at the initial stages. An illustrative example is used to demonstrate the application of the proposed framework.
