  • A new classification framework called 'support feature machine' was introduced in [2] for analyzing medical data. Contrary to authors' claim, however, the proposed method is not designed to guarantee minimizing the use of the spatial feature variables. This paper mathematically remedies this drawback and provides comments on models from [2].

  • This article mainly introduces the research of closed forging on 20MN hot die forging presses. After transforming of the equipments, optimizing of die design and improving of die-manufacturing precision, gear blanks used in car gearbox have been forged out without fins successfully.

  • A scheme of dynamic optimization for batch reactor his been developed and applied to a semi-batch esterification reactor. To obtain optimal operating conditions for the given semi-batch reactor system with complex reaction kinetic and process constraints, a general nonlinear programming solver and finite element techniques have been introduced. The optimization results for the complex reactor system have been compared with those of Kumar et al. [1984] to show better optimization performance. The proposed optimizing scheme has been applied to the free end time problem to obtain the realistic operating condition. The results can supply valuable information for economic operation of the given batch esterification reactor.

  • In this paper, we present a recursive algorithm for the auto-tuning of PID controllers by optimizing a GPC criterion. Also, we develop an intelligent PID controller by combination of a recursive algorithm together with a supervisor, that allows to adjust the main controller parameters (prediction horizon, control weighting, sample time etc.) using some simple rules which is mainly built up through relay tuning experiments. The intelligent PID controller has been implemented successfully on an IBM PC/AT and some simulation results are presented.

  • This paper discusses the solution to the precise positioning control problem applied to a simple model of a dual stage or redundant positioner. The dual stage actuator presented here uses a VCM(Voice Coil Motor) as a coarse actuator and a piezoelectric actuator as a fine actuator. By adopting controllers with two-degree-of-freedom and by optimizing H$_{2}$ faster precise tracking can be realized. Experimental and numerical results are presented to demonstrate the control effects.

  • As usual systems, robot manipulators have also physical constraints for operating. It is a difficult problem that we operate manipulator in the minimal time under these constraints. In this paper, we solve this problem dividing it into two steps. In the first step, we find the minimal time trajectories by optimizing qubic polynomial joint trajectories using evolutionary algorithms. In the second step, we optimize controller for robot manipulator to track precisely trajectories optimized in the previous step.

  • In this paper, feedback controller is designed for ball-beam system using genetic algorithms. A genetic algorithms are implemented for optimizing gain parameters of feedback controller. We can find optimal point in multi-dimensional search space by using genetic algorithms. Performance of controller is tested by simulation of ball-beam system.

  • The evaluation of the logic capability and the library generation method of the multiplexor-based logic module is described. Optimizing logic module for silicon area and logic capability is essential to build a efficient FPGAs(Field-Programmable Gate Arrays). Because the multiplexor-based logic module can implement a large number of functions, it presents difficulties for library-based approaches. However, the logic functions of the logic module can be significantly reduced by lmiting the number of variables and sum-of-products and by removing same functions with different variable ordering using algorithm presented in this paper.
