A Study on the Body Welding Operation Scheduling Considering the Assembly Line's Input Sequence in Construction Equipment Manufacturing (건설기계 조립 라인 투입 순서를 고려한 제관 공정 생산 스케줄링에 관한 연구)

  • The body of an excavator, one sort of the construction equipment, consists of mainframe part, track frame part, boom part and arm part. The all parts are manufactured in the body welding operation. The scheduling in the body welding operation of a construction equipment manufacturing is to take all the various constraints into consideration. The offset time, due date, daily capacity of operations, daily jig's capacity, precedence relation, outsourcing, alternative resource and all of the shop floor environment should be considered. An APS(Advanced Planning & Scheduling) system is a proper and efficient system in such circumstance. In this paper, we present an APS system, the optimal scheduling system for the construction equipment manufacturing specifically for the body welding operation, using ILOG Solver/Scheduler. ILOG Solver/Scheduler is a general purposed commercial software which supports to find a feasible or optimal solution using object oriented technique and constraints satisfaction programming, given constraints and objectives.

  • The power system scheduling process is formulated as an optimization problem with linear inequality constraints. AC Loadflow method is used for the problem solution and line losses are considered. The constraints under consiceration are generator power limits, load schedding limits and line capacity limits. In solving the objective function the Dual Relaxation method is adopted. Tests indicate that the method is practical for real time applications.

  • This paper is implemented a control algorithm in order to be stable and minimized to entire train traffic system at delayed case. Signal ing system is described wi th algebraic equations given for train headway, Discrete-event simulation principles are reviewed and a demonstration block signaling model using the technique is implemented. Train congestion at station entrance for short headway operation is demonstrated and the propagation of delays along a platform of trains from any imposed delay to the leading train is also shown. A rail way signaling system is by nature a distributed operation with event triggered at discrete intervals. Although the train kinematic variables of position, velocity, and acceleration are continually changing, the changes are triggered when the trains pass over section boundaries and arrive at signals and route switches. This paper deals with linear-mode1ing, stability and optimal control for the traffic on such metro line of the model is reconstructed in order to adapt the circuits. This paper propose optimal control laws wi th state feedback ensuring the stability of the modeled system for circuits. Simulation results show the benefit to be expected from an efficient traffic control. The main results are summarized as follows: 1. In this paper we develop a linear model describing the traffic for both loop lines, two state space equations have been analyzed. The first one is adapted to the situation where a complete nominal time schedule is available while second one is adapted when only the nominal time interval between trains is known, in both cases we show the unstability of the traffic when the proceeding train is delayed following properties, - They are easily implemented at law cost on existing lines. - They ensure the exponetial stability of loop system. 2. These control laws have been tested on a traffic simulation software taking into the non-linearites and the physical constraints on a metro line. By means of simulation, the efficiency of the proposed optimal control laws are shown.

  • This study deals with the optimal design of mobile access network connecting base stations(BSs) and mobile switching centers(MSCs). Generally mobile operators constitute their access networks by leasing communication lines. Using the characteristic of leased line rate based on administration region, we build an optimization model for mobile access network design which has much smaller number of variables than the existing researches. And we develop a GUI based optimization tool integrating the well-known softwares such as MS EXCEL. MS VisualBasic, MS PowerPoint and Ip_solve, a freeware optimization software. Employing the current access network configuration of a Korean mobile carrier, this study using the optimization tool obtain an optimal solution for both single MSC access network and nation-wide access network. Each optimal access network achieves 7.45% and 9.49% save of lease rate, respectively. Considering the monthly charge and total amount of lease line rate, our optimization tool provides big amount of save in network operation cost. Besides the graphical representation of access networks makes the operator easily understand and compare current and optimal access networks.

  • The purpose of this study is the use of simulation modelling to enhance productivity. In this paper, the optimal buffer allocation of small and medium size industries which produce solenoid valves for automobiles, is performed using simulations. The simulation model was developed under considerations of production layout, process & operation, process time, total work time, WIP, utilization, failure rate, and operation efficiency as inputs, and it was validated with careful comparisons between real behaviors and simulation outputs of the production line. Therefore, we can evaluate effects and changes in productivity when some strategies and/or crucial factors are changed. Although too large buffer could decrease productivity, the solenoid production line in this paper has been maintained large buffer. It is because reducing the size of buffer could result in the termination of the process. We determined the optimal number of buffers that could not cause any interrupt in productions using simulations. This simulation model considers diverse input variables which could influence productivity, and it is very useful not only for the production line of solenoid valves, but also for other production lines with various purposes, especially, small and medium size industries.

  • The constrained off-line competitive deletion problem is a simple form of the set manipulation operations problem. It excludes the insertion operation from the off-line competitive deletion problem. An optimal sequential algorithm and a CREW PRAM algorithm which runs $O(log^2nloglogn)$ time using O(n/loglogn) processors were already presented in the literature. In this paper, we present a reconfigurable mesh algorithm for the constrained off-line competitive deletion problem. The proposed algorithm is executed in a constant time on an $n{\times}n$ reconfigurable mesh, and the result is $AT^2$ optimal.

  • Collision avoidance for the aircraft can be stated as a problem of maintaining a safe distance between aircrafts in conflict. Optimal collision avoidance problem seeks to minimize the given cost function while simultaneously satisfying the constraints. The cost function can be a function of time or input. This paper addresses the trajectory time-optimization problem for collision avoidance of the unmanned aerial vehicles. The problem is difficult to handle, because it is a two points boundary value problem with dynamic environment. Some simplifying algorithms are used for application in on-line operation. Although there are more complicated problems, by prediction of conflict time and some assumptions, we changed a dynamic environment problem into a static one.

  • This study focuses on the optimal operation and control strategy of the fuel cell process. The control objective of the Phosphoric Acid Fuel Cell (PAFC) is established and dynamic modeling equations of the entire fuel cell process are formulated as discrete-time type. On-line optimal control of the MIMO system employs the direct decomposition-coordination method. The objective function is modified as the tracking form to enhance the response capability to the load change. The weight factor matrices Q,R, which are design parameters, are readjusted. This control system is compared with LQI method and the results show that the suggested method is better than the traditional method in pressure difference control.

  • This paper presents to compute the power economic dispatch, an optimal power flow (OPF) computation algorithm, considering the load power factor limits constraint in developed. Efficient reactive power planning enhances economic operation as well as system security. Accordingly, an adequate level of power factor limits for the load busesshould be evaluated for economic operation. In this paper, the ranges of acceptable load power factors are portrayed as bandwidths of load power factor expressed as a function of load level. The load power factor limits are included and described into the OPF's objective function. The method Proposed is applied to IEEE 26 bus system.

  • This paper studies the validity about a joint operation of neutral wire and overhead grounding wire in combined distribution systems. The overhead grounding wire and neutral wire are currently installed separately and grounded by common. However there is no any ineffectiveness or electrical problem in case of the proposed system, such system can be operated at real distribution system. Therefore this paper describes the suitability of a joint operation through lightning surge analysis on combined distribution systems and analyzes the optimal position of lightning arrester on joint operation of neutral wire and overhead grounding wire. Lightning surge analysis is carried out by EMTP/ATPDraw to obtain the overvoltage of overhead line and underground cable in various conditions such as location and current types of lightning stroke. Over voltage gained by the analysis show that the insulation strength of the joint operation case is not stable compare with the current operation case.
