In this paper, we propose a new efficient hybrid-mixed C(sup)0 curved beam element with the optimal interpolation functions determined from numerical tests, which gives very accurate locking-free two-node curved beam element. In the element level, the stress parameters are eliminated from the stationary condition and the nodeless degrees of freedom are also removed by static condensation so that a standard six-by-six stiffness matrix is finally obtained. The numeri cal benchmark problems show that the element with cubic displacement functions and quadratic stress functions is the most efficient.

We propose a consistent numerical method for elliptic interface problems with nonhomogeneous jumps. We modify the discontinuous bubble immersed finite element method (DB-IFEM) introduced in (Chang et al. 2011), by adding a consistency term to the bilinear form. We prove optimal error estimates in L2 and energy like norm for this new scheme. One of the important technique in this proof is the Bramble-Hilbert type of interpolation error estimate for discontinuous functions. We believe this is a first time to deal with interpolation error estimate for discontinuous functions. Numerical examples with various interfaces are provided. We observe optimal convergence rates for all the examples, while the performance of early DB-IFEM deteriorates for some examples. Thus, the modification of the bilinear form is meaningful to enhance the performance.
Numerical analysis has been adopted in nearly all modern scientific and engineering fields due to the rapid and ongoing evolution of computational technology, with the number of grid or mesh points in a given data field also increasing. Some values must be extracted from large data fields to evaluate and supplement numerical analysis results and observational data, thereby highlighting the need for a fast and effective interpolation approach. The quadrilateral irregular network (QIN) proposed in this study is a fast and reliable interpolation method that is capable of sufficiently satisfying these demands. A comparative sensitivity analysis is first performed using known test functions to assess the accuracy and computational requirements of QIN relative to conventional interpolation methods. These same interpolation methods are then employed to produce simple numerical model results for a real-world comparison. Unlike conventional interpolation methods, QIN can obtain reliable results with a guaranteed degree of accuracy since there is no need to determine the optimal parameter values. Furthermore, QIN is a computationally efficient method compared with conventional interpolation methods that require the entire data space to be evaluated during interpolation, even if only a subset of the data space requires interpolation.

In this study, the prediction errors of various spatial interpolation methods used to model values at unmeasured locations was compared and the accuracy of these predictions was evaluated. The root mean square (RMS) was calculated by processing different parameters associated with spatial interpolation by using techniques such as inverse distance weighting, kriging, local polynomial interpolation and radial basis function to known elevation data of the east coastal area under the same condition. As a result, a circular model of simple kriging reached the smallest RMS value. Prediction map using the multiquadric method of a radial basis function was coincident with the spatial distribution obtained by constructing a triangulated irregular network of the study area through the raster mathematics. In addition, better interpolation results can be obtained by setting the optimal power value provided under the selected condition.

Flight trajectory optimization has become an important factor not only to reduce the operational costs (e.g.,, fuel and time related costs) of the airliners but also to reduce the environmental impact (e.g.,, emissions, contrails and noise etc.) caused by the airliners. So far, these factors have been dealt with in the context of 2D and 3D trajectory optimization, which are no longer efficient. Presently, the 4D trajectory optimization is required in order to cope with the current air traffic management (ATM). This study deals with a cubic spline approximation method for solving 4D trajectory optimization problem (TOP). The state vector, its time derivative and control vector are parameterized using cubic spline interpolation (CSI). Consequently, the objective function and constraints are expressed as functions of the value of state and control at the temporal nodes, this representation transforms the TOP into nonlinear programming problem (NLP). The proposed method is successfully applied to the generation of a minimum length optimal trajectories along 4D waypoints, where the method generated smooth 4D optimal trajectories with very accurate results.
If chlorophyll-a is estimated through ocean color remote sensing, it is able to understand the global distribution of phytoplankton and primary production. However, there are missing data in the ocean color observed from the satellites due to the clouds or weather conditions. In thisstudy, the missing data of the GOCI (Geostationary Ocean Color Imager) chlorophyll-a product wasreconstructed by using DINEOF (Data INterpolation Empirical Orthogonal Functions). DINEOF reconstructs the missing data based on spatio-temporal data, and the accuracy was cross-verified by removing a part of the GOCI chlorophyll-a image and comparing it with the reconstructed image. In the study area, the optimal EOF (Empirical Orthogonal Functions) mode for DINEOF wasin 10-13. The temporal and spatialreconstructed data reflected the increasing chlorophyll-a concentration in the afternoon, and the noise of outliers was filtered. Therefore, it is expected that DINEOF is useful to reconstruct the missing images, also it is considered that it is able to use as basic data for monitoring the ocean environment.

Shape design optimization for linear elasticity problem is performed using isogeometric analysis method. In many design optimization problems for real engineering models, initial raw data usually comes from CAD modeler. Then designer should convert this CAD data into finite element mesh data because conventional design optimization tools are generally based on finite element analysis. During this conversion there is some numerical error due to a geometry approximation, which causes accuracy problems in not only response analysis but also design sensitivity analysis. As a remedy of this phenomenon, the isogeometric analysis method is one of the promising approaches of shape design optimization. The main idea of isogeometric analysis is that the basis functions used in analysis is exactly same as ones which represent the geometry, and this geometrically exact model can be used shape sensitivity analysis and design optimization as well. In shape design sensitivity point of view, precise shape sensitivity is very essential for gradient-based optimization. In conventional finite element based optimization, higher order information such as normal vector and curvature term is inaccurate or even missing due to the use of linear interpolation functions. On the other hands, B-spline basis functions have sufficient continuity and their derivatives are smooth enough. Therefore normal vector and curvature terms can be exactly evaluated, which eventually yields precise optimal shapes. In this article, isogeometric analysis method is utilized for the shape design optimization. By virtue of B-spline basis function, an exact geometry can be handled without finite element meshes. Moreover, initial CAD data are used throughout the optimization process, including response analysis, shape sensitivity analysis, design parameterization and shape optimization, without subsequent communication with CAD description.
The scattered pilots employed in DVB-T take advantage of the merits of both the block type and comb type pilot arrangement to increase the transmission efficiency. To estimate the channel transfer functions for data subcarriers, it is required to conduct time-frequency domain 2D estimation using the pilots. Though 2D Wiener estimator is optimal in sense of MSE (mean square error), it is too complex to implement in hardware. In this paper a new channel estimation method for the scattered pilot based OFDM system by measuring the power of AWGN and removing the noise in the LS (least square) estimate of the channel is proposed. And the simulation results reveal the proposed method outperforms the 2D linear interpolation in the fading channel.
In recent years, there have been an increasing number of experimental studies showing the need to include robustness criteria in the design process to develop complex active control designs for practical implementation. The paper investigates the crosswind aerodynamic parameters after the blocking phase of a two-dimensional square cross-section structure by measuring the response in wind tunnel tests under light wind flow conditions. To improve the accuracy of the results, the interpolation of the experimental curves in the time domain and the analytical responses were numerically optimized to finalize the results. Due to this combined effect, the three aerodynamic parameters decrease with increasing wind speed and asymptotically affect the upper branch constants. This means that the aerodynamic parameters along the density distribution are minimal. Taylor series are utilized to describe the fuzzy nonlinear plant and derive the stability analysis using polynomial function for analyzing the aerodynamic parameters and numerical simulations. Due to it will yield intricate terms to ensure stability criterion, therefore we aim to avoid kinds issues by proposing a polynomial homogeneous framework and utilizing Euler's functions for homogeneous systems. Finally, we solve the problem of stabilization under the consideration by SOS (sum of squares) and assign its fuzzy controller based on the feasibility of demonstration of a nonlinear system as an example.

This paper intends to develop the rotor track and balance (RTB) algorithm using the nonlinear RTB models and a real-coded hybrid genetic algorithm. The RTB response data computed using the trim solutions with variation of the adjustment parameters have been used to build nonlinear RTB models based on the quadratic interpolation functions. Nonlinear programming problems to minimize the track deviations and the airframe vibration responses have been formulated to find optimum settings of balance weights, trim-tab deflections, and pitch-link lengths of each blade. The results are efficiently resolved using the real-coded genetic algorithm hybridized with the particle swarm optimization techniques for convergence acceleration. The nonlinear RTB models and the optimized RTB parameters have been compared with those computed using the linear models to validate the proposed techniques. The results showed that the nonlinear models lead to more accurate models and reduced RTB responses than the linear counterpart.
