The problem of finding shortest paths between every pair of points in a network is solved employing and optimal network decomposition in which the network is decomposed into a number of subnetworks minimizing the number of cut-set between them while each subnetwork is constrained by a size limit. Shortest path computations are performed on individual subnetworks, and the solutions are recomposed to obtain the solution of the original network. The method when applied to large scale networks significantly reduces core requirement and computation time. This is demonstrated by developing a computer program based on the method and applying it to 30-vertex, 160-vertex, and 273-vertex networks.

This Paper compares two mathematical decomposition coordination methods to implementing the distributed optimal Power flow(OPF) using the regional decomposition: the Auxiliary Problem Principle(APP) and the Alternating Direction Method(ADM), a variant of the conventional Augmented Lagrangian approach. A case study was performed with IEEE 50-bus system.

Linear motion and angular motion in task space are handled separately in joint velocity planning for redundant robot manipulators. In solving inverse kinematic equations with given joint velocity limits, we consider the order of priority for linear motion and angular motion. The proposed method will be useful in such applications where only linear motions are important than angular motions or vice versa.

This study gives the optimal reaction conditions, reaction mechanisms, reaction rates leaded from the oxidation of phenol by electron beam accelerator and ozone used for recent water treatment. It gives the new possibility of water treatment process to effectively manage industrial sewage containing toxic organic compounds and biological refractory materials. The high decomposition of phenol was observed at the low dose rate, but at this low dose rate, the reaction time was lengthened. So we must find out the optimal dose rate to promote high oxidation of reactants. The reason why the TOC value of aqueous solution wasn't decreased at the low dose was that there were a lot of low molecular organic acids as an intermediates such as formic acid or glyoxalic acid. In order to use both electron beam accelerator and biological treatment for high concentration refractory organic compounds, biological treatment is needed when low molecular organic compounds exist abundantly in sewage. In this experiment, the condition of making a lot of organic acids is from 5 kGy into 20 kGy dose. Decomposition rate of phenol by electron beam accelerator was first order reaction up to 300ppm phenol solution on the basic of TOC value and also showed first order reaction by using both air and ozone as an oxidants.

A finite element interface system for the design of optimal spot welding locations has been developed. In order to find out the optimal locations of spot welding points, iterative finite element an alyses are necessary, and thus automatic generation of finite element model for the structures with spot welded pointsis required. In this interface system, quadrilateral shell elements are automatically generated for finite element analysis of spot welded structured, which employs a domain decomposition methodand adaptive mesh(h-method).

In JPEG2000, the Cohen-Daubechies-Feauveau (CDF) 9/7-tap wavelet filter adopted in lossy compression is implemented by the lifting scheme or by the convolution scheme while the LeGall 5/3-tap wavelet filter adopted in lossless compression is implemented just by the lifting scheme. However, these filters are not optimal in terms of Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) values, and irrational coefficients of wavelet filters are complicated. In this paper, we proposed a method to optimize image quality based on wavelet filter design and on wavelet decomposition. First, we propose a design of wavelet filters by selecting the most appropriate rational coefficients of wavelet filters. These filters are shown to have better performance than previous wavelet ones. Then, we choose the most appropriate wavelet decomposition to get the optimal PSNR values of images.
The power spectrum of background EEG is estimated by the Plsarenko Harmonic Decomposition with the stochastic process whlch consists of the nonhamonic sinus Bid and the white nosie. The estimation results are examined and compared with the results from the maximum entropy spectral extimation, and the optimal order of this from the maximum entropy spectral extimation, and the optimal order of this model can be determined from the eigen value's fluctuation of autocorrelation of background EEG. From the comparing results, this method is possible to estimate the power spectrum of background EEG.
This paper presents a flexible finite-difference technique for analyzing the nonuniform guiding structures. Because the voltage and current variations along the nonuniform structure differ for each segment, this work considers the adaptable discretization steps. This technique increases the accuracy of the final response. Moreover, by applying the singular value decomposition and discarding the nonprincipal singular values, an optimal lower rank approximation of the discretization matrix is obtained. The computational cost of the introduced method is significantly reduced using the optimal discretization matrix. Also, the proposed method can be extended to the nonuniform waveguides. The technique is verified by analyzing several practical transmission lines and waveguides with nonuniform profiles.

In the non-destructive evaluation techniques using ultrasonic signal, backscattering noise from grain interface decreases the SNR of received signal. In this paper, SSP(split-spectrum processing) based on the constant FBR decomposition method has been applied to enhance the SNR. This algorithm helps to find optimal parameters of filter bank through a simple theory and has an advantage that reduce the signal processing time compared with the conventional constant bandwidth decomposition method. In this experiment, the 304 stainless steel sample is heat-treated and received ultrasonic signal is processed by SSP using the constand bandwidth decomposition method and the constand FBR decomposition method enhanced the SNR by 1.4 dB and reduced the required number of filters by 4 compared with the constant bandwidth decomposition method.

In order to implement morphological filters on image processing systems, the size of structuring element must be small due to the architectural constraints of the systems, which requires the decomposition of structuring element into small elements for the filters with large structuring elements. In this paper, an algorithm for decomposition of structuring element with no restriction on the shape and size is developed which enables sub-optimal implementation of any morphological filter on 3X3 pipeline machine. The given structuring element is first decomposed into the union of elements using sequential search procedure, then each element is further decomposed optimally into 3X3 elements, resulting in final sub-optimal 3$\times$3 hybrid decomposition. The proposed algorithm is applied to some structuring elements and the results close to the optimum are obtained.
