단열층이 DVD 기판의 복굴절 및 전사성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Insulation Layer on Birefringence and Land-groove Pattern in DVD-RAM Substrate)

  • It is necessary to improve mechanical and optical properties in the optical disk substrates as the information storage devices with high storage density using blue laser are being developed. Injection compression molding is regarded as the most suitable process to manufacture optical disk substrates for quality recording and read-out. In the present research, the effects of mold temperature and the insulation layer thickness on gapwise birefringence and the land-groove pattern were investigated. It was found that the values of the birefringence distribution were very sensitive to mold temperature history, and the level of birefringence reduced and, furthermore, the quality of replication was improved due to the insulation layer.

Geometric and Wave Optic Features in the Optical Transmission Patterns of Injection-molded Mesoscale Pyramid Prism Patterned Plates

  • In this paper, mesoscale optical surface structures are found to possess both geometric and wave optics features. The study reveals that geometric optic analysis cannot correctly predict the experimental results of light transmission or reflection by mesoscale optical structures, and that, for reliable analyses, a hybrid approach incorporating both geometric and wave optic theories should be employed. By analyzing the transmission patterns generated by the mesoscale periodic pyramid prism plates, we show that the wave optic feature is mainly ascribed to the edge diffraction effect and we estimate the relative contributions of the wave optic diffraction effect and the geometric refraction effect to the total scattering field distribution with respect to the relative dimension of the structures.

  • It was firstly found in 1st group element. Recently, it has been reported on the improvement of efficiency of the OLEDs by introducing thin layer of some carbonate materials of alkali metal. In order to improve the efficiency of OLEDs which is one of the next generation displays, we have studied the electrical characteristics of the device depending on the thickness ratio of the hole-injection layer to the electron-injection layer. Teflon-AF was used as the hole-injection material, and alkali-metal carbonates of $Li_2CO_3$ were used as the electron-injection materials. To obtain a proper thickness ratio, we manufactured. Four types of devices with the thickness ratio of HIL to EIL were made to be 1 : 4, 2 : 3, 3 : 2, and 4 : 1. The results of electrical and optical properties showed that the device with the thickness ratio of 4 : 1 is the most excellent result. In addition, to prepare a four-layer device by inserting the ${\alpha}$-NPD is a hole transporting material was compared with three-layer element. As a result, the maximum luminance, the maximum luminous efficiency, maximum external quantum efficiency of about 124 [%], 164 [%], 106 [%] improve was confirmed.

광탄성을 이용한 투명한 사출성형품의 잔류응력측정 및 광학적 특성의 컴퓨터 모사 (Measurement of Residual Stress Using Photoelasticity and Computer Simulation of Optical Characteristics in a Transparent Injection Molded Article)

  • 사출성형은 고온의 수지를 고압으로 금형에 충전하고 냉각하여 제품을 만드는 공정으로 큰 온도차이와 고압에 의해 성형품에 잔류응력이 형성된다. 이러한 잔류응력은 시간이 지남에 따라 이완되면서 제품에 변형을 일으켜 형상 품질을 저하시킨다. 본 연구에서는 광탄성 장치를 이용하여 투명한 사출성형품의 잔류응력을 측정하는 방법을 연구하였다. 빛은 전자파처럼 진행하는데 편광필름을 통과하면 하나의 파장만이 진행하게 된다. 그 파장이 시편을 통과하면서 시편에 존재하는 잔류응력 때문에 복굴절이 형성되고 두 번째 편광필름을 통과하면서 다양한 색의 패턴을 보이게 된다. 이 색의 패턴을 이용하여 사출성형으로 제작된 사각평판의 잔류응력을 정량적으로 측정하였다. 또한 컴퓨터 해석을 통해 사출성형품의 광학적 특성을 예측하였으며 실험과 비교하였다.

  • 반도체 광 증폭기의 특성을 이해하기 위하여 비율 방정식을 수치 해석적으로 풀었다. 사용된 비율 방정식은 운반자 밀도와 자발 방출된 빛, 그리고 신호 빛을 위치와 시간의 함수로 기술할 수 있다. 사각 파형의 신호가 입사했을 경우에 대하여 위의 세가지 양을 구하여서 반도체 광증포기의 동적인 특성을 파악하였다. 파장 다중 광통신에서처럼 다중신호가 입사하는 경우의 비선형성을 분석하였다. 맥놀이에 의한 내부변조 변형을 계산하여 본 결과 파장 간격이 넓을수록 내부변조 변형은 줄어드는 결과를 정량적으로 얻었으며, 신호간의 채널 간섭은 신호의 세기가 감소하면 줄어드는 결과를 얻었다. 또한 신호로 사용되는 파장에서 충분히 멀리 떨어진 연속파동 레이저가 입사하는 경우에는 채널간의 신호간섭과 출력파형 변형이 감소하는 이득고정 효과가 나타남을 계산을 통하여 확인하였다.

Flow Marks of Polypropylene (PP) Composites in the Injection Molding

  • Flow mark is a sort of surface defect on the composite that can arise during the filling stage of the injection molding process. The purpose of this study is to clarify a mechanism of the flow mark which appears on the surface of injection molded Polypropylene (PP) through the characterization of the surface structure. The materials used in this report are PP/rubber and PP/talc compounding, which are widely used in automobile part. The flow mark shows two different constitutions, such as a luster part and a cloud part on the surface of the injection molded PP. We have investigated the surface structure of PP/rubber and PP/talc composites by using scanning electron microscope (SEM), energy dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDAX) and optical microscopy (OM). As a result, the cloud part contains higher contents of the rubber and talc compare to the luster part.

  • To meet strict emission regulation while improving engine performances, common rail injection system which is suitable for electronic control, and capable of controlling injection quantity, timing, rate and pressure individually as well as realizing high pressure has been developed. At present study, a 8L DI diesel engine was converted to a single-cylinder experimental engine allowing optical access through an extended piston and a prototype of common rail injector in progress was applied to the engine. The combustion characteristics of the engine were analysed by using direct images and characteristics of the injector were analysed. We can not say that the results are always the same to general common rail injection system but that they are just characteristics of specific prototype injector.

  • Micro injection molding is a branch of micro system technology and has been under development for the mass manufacture of micro parts. Enhanced technological products like micro optical devices are entering the market. This paper presents fundamental research on the injection molding technique in micro fabrication. In order to successful manufacturing of micro plastic parts, it is necessary to research for development of micro-injection machine, machining of micro mold, decision of optimum injection conditions and the research for polymer material. Therefore in this study, in order to machining of micro mold, a mold core with microscopic V-shaped groove was tooled by ultra-precise tooling machine. The transcription experiments with a polymer, PMMA resin on the surface of core with Ni plating were carried out and surface profile of injected parts was measured with AFM.

Numerical Simulation of Flow-Induced Birefringence: Comparison of Injection and Injection/Compression Molding

  • A computer code was developed to simulate the filling stage of an injection/compression molding process using a finite element method. The constitutive equation was the compressible Leonov model and the PVT relationship was assumed to follow the Tait equation. The flow-induced birefringence was related to the calculated flow stresses through the linear stress-optical law. Simulations of a disk under different processing conditions, including variations of the compression stroke and compression speed, were performed to determine their effects on the flow-induced birefringence. Simulated pressure traces were also compared to those obtained in conventional injection molding and with experimental data from the literature.

  • Using pentacene field effect transistors (FETs) with Au source and drain electrodes, electron injection from the Au electrodes into the pentacene was investigated. The capacitance-voltage (C-V) and optical second harmonic generation (SHG) measurements were employed. Electron injection from the Au electrodes was suggested by the hysteresis behavior with the C-V characteristics and slowly decaying SHG signal under DC biasing, A mechanism of hole-injection assisted by trapped electrons is proposed. To confirm electron injection process, light-emitting behavior under the application of AC applied voltage was observed.
