Opportunity Coefficient for Cluster-Head Selection in LEACH Protocol

  • Routing protocols play a pivotal role in the energy management and lifespan of any Wireless Sensor Network. Lower network lifetime has been one of the biggest concerns in LEACH protocol due to dead nodes. The LEACH protocol suffers from uneven energy distribution problem due to random selection of a cluster head. The cluster head has much greater responsibility compared to other non- cluster head nodes and consumes greater energy for its roles. This results in early dead nodes due to energy lost for the role of cluster- head. This study proposes an approach to balance the energy consumption of the LEACH protocol by using a semi-deterministic opportunity coefficient to select the cluster head. This is calculated in each node with the battery energy level and node ID. Ultimately, based on the opportunity cost, cluster head will be selected and broadcasted for which other nodes with higher opportunity cost will agree. It minimizes the chances of nodes with lower battery level being elected as cluster head. Our simulation experiments demonstrate that cluster heads chosen using our proposed algorithm perform better than those using the legacy LEACH protocol.

Fostering Franchising Intention of SMEs in Vietnam: A Motivation-Opportunity-Ability Perspective

  • Franchising is one of the most interesting areas of management research, attracting researchers and practitioners from all over the world. Many factors that drive franchising intention have been identified by previous researchers. They also demonstrated that there are numerous research gaps in this subject that must be filled. The primary goal of this study is to identify and test new factors of franchising intent. Finally, to clarify the role of these components, this study used the Motivation - Opportunity - Ability paradigm. To test the hypothesis, SmartPLS software was used to evaluate a total of 252 valid questionnaires collected from small and medium businesses in Hanoi, Vietnam. The findings revealed that franchisee motivation, franchisor support, and asset specificity have a positive impact on franchising intention. In whatever case, the opportunity has the greatest impact on participation intentions. In terms of the impact level on SMEs' intentions in the franchise system, ability comes in second. Furthermore, the moderating influence of franchisee asset specialization in the relationship between opportunity and franchising intention is confirmed by this study. This study examines the theoretical and practical contributions, as well as their limitations, and suggests some future research on the subject.

국내 진출 다국적기업 자회사 종사자들의 조직동일시에 미치는 요인에 대한 연구 (A study on factors that influence organizational identification among employees who work for foreign multinational corporations in Korea)

  • This study examines factors that influence organizational identification of employees who work for foreign multinational corporations in Korea. First, we test whether employee perceptions on leader-member exchange, trust in CEO, and career growth opportunity can influence their organizational identification. second, we also investigate moderation effects of employee perception on subsidiary level factors such as co-operation between the subsidiary and its HQ, firm reputation of the subsidiary, and opportunity to work overseas. 391 survey results from 350 subsidiaries of multinational corporations in Korea has been collected for this study. We found that leader-member exchange, trust in CEO and career growth opportunity had a positive effect on organizational identification of employees who work for foreign subsidiaries of multinational corporations in Korea. We also found partial support for the moderation effects of HQ-subsidiary interrelationship and opportunity to work overseas in the relationship between predictors and organizational identification. With this in mind, I hope this help to reconsider competitiveness of global companies in Korea by increasing organizational identification.

예비청년창업가의 창업동기가 창업기회역량에 미치는 영향: 창업효능감과 기업가지향성의 매개변수의 효과 중심으로 (Effects of Entrepreneurship Motivation on Entrepreneurial Opportunity Competence in Preliminary Young Entrepreneurs: Focusing on Mediating Effects Of Entrepreneurial Efficacy and Entrepreneurial Orientation)

  • 청년창업에서는 기회의 발견이라는 개별적 상황이 매우 중요하다. 특정한 개인 창업가에게 발생한 기회와 또한 어떠한 과정을 통해서 인식되고 평가되고 있는지가 매우 중요하다. 기회형 창업 비중은 비중이 작아 창업교육에서 비중이 작게 책정되어 있는 창업기회 역량 개발의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 특히 청년창업의 경우 기회형 창업이 절실한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 예비청년창업가 (19-39세)를 대상으로 창업효능감과 기업가지향성을 매개변수로 하여 창업동기가 창업기회역량에 미치는 영향에 관해 분석하였다. 창업정책과 교육은 청년창업사관학교 등의 제도를 통해 대부분 대학생과 청년층을 위주로 진행되고 있고, 또 이들을 대상으로 제도적 지원이 창업의지에 미치는 영향 등에 관한 연구는 활발히 진행되고 있는 반면, 청년창업가를 대상으로 한 창업동기가 복수의 매개변수가 포함된 모형에서 기회형 창업 추진에 필요한 창업기회역량에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 거의 없다시피 하다. 이에 본 연구는 예비청년창업가의 창업동기가 창업기회역량에 영향을 미치는지 알아보기 위해 주로 서울시 및 경기도에 거주하는 예비청년창업가들로부터 수집한 설문지 374부를 실증분석을 실시하였다. SPSS v22.0과 Process macro v3.0을 사용한 분석결과 첫째, 창업동기가 창업기회역량의 기회인식 및 기회평가에 미치는 영향이 모두 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 창업동기가 창업효능감에 미치는 영향 또한 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 창업효능감은 기업가지향성에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 기업가지향성은 창업기회역량에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 창업동기와 창업기회인식 간에 매개변수인 기업가지향성을 경유할 때와 창업효능감과 기업가지향성을 동시에 경유할 때 유의한 간접효과가 나타났으나 창업효능감을 경유할 때는 간접효과가 유의하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 창업동기와 창업기회평가 간에는 모든 매개변수에 대해 유의한 간접효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 창업동기 유형에 따른 창업기회인식 배양을 위해서는 기업가정신에 대한 교육 강화와 창업기회평가 배양을 위해서는 창업효능감과 기업가정신에 대한 교육강화가 필요할 것으로 시사된다.

  • 컴포넌트 기반 기술의 장점을 최대로 살리기 위해서는 컴포넌트 기반 개발 프로세스 및 관리 프로세스가 체계적으로 통합 관리되어야 한다. 체계적인 개발 프로세스의 부재 속에서 개발된 컴포넌트는 자신의 최대 이점인 소프트웨어의 재사용과 품질의 향상을 끌어내지 못하기 때문이다. 이에 본 리포트에서는 체계적인 개발 프로세스에 대한 Opportunity Tree를 제안함으로써 컴포넌트를 개발하고자 하는 이들의 CBD에 대한 이해를 높이고, 개발 과정의 주요 프로세스를 효과적으로 수행할 수 있도록 한다.

무효전력 기회비용을 반영한 전력시장 입찰전략 연구 (Bidding Strategies with the Opportunity Cost of Reactive Power in a Competitive Market)

  • This paper addresses the bidding strategies of generating firms in a competitive market where the firms are provided with payment for generating reactive power. Reactive support for voltage control is an integral and critical part of power system operations. Since reactive support is unbundled in a competitive market under open access transmission, it is treated as one of ancillary services. The operation costs and opportunity costs for reactive support are compensated by payment to the firms, hence their bidding strategies will be affected. The opportunity costs are evaluated from the foregone profits of a generator in making sales in real power market by providing reactive support instead of real power. Game theory approach is used to analysis the transaction strategies of real power by the bimatrix method in this paper. Through computing the Nash equilibrium in a sample system, an incentive of a generator for improving the reactive generating capacity is found to be effective and the variations of the profits are analyzed as the demand power factor changes.

  • In this raper, Economic value of reserve margin i.i presented by opportunity cost for Korean power system, and the level of compensation for spinning reserve that is necessary to operate power system stably is proposed. The generator that is giving up for opportunity to participate in energy market must take opportunity cost. it is relative to not only whole demand level but also marginal cost of each resource. In this paper, assume that all resource in Korea is equivalent to six generator for simulation. and we evaluate value of reserve in the time of high demand and low demand. Also we propose the way to improve a evaluation method by examine relationship between capacity payment and value of reserve.

  • We consider a consumption and investment problem where an investor's investment opportunity gets enlarged when she becomes rich enough, i.e., when her wealth touches a critical level. We derive optimal consumption and investment rules assuming that the investor has a time-separable von Neumann-Morgenstern utility function. An interesting feature of optimal rules is that the investor consumes less and takes more risk in risky assets if the investor expects that she will have a better investment opportunity when her wealth reaches a critical level.

Optimal Retirement Time and Consumption/Investment in Anticipation of a Better Investment Opportunity

  • We investigate an optimal retirement time and consumption/investment policy of a wage earner who expects to find a better investment opportunity after retirement by being freed from other work and participating fully in the financial market. We obtain a closed form solution to the optimization problem by using a dynamic programming method under general time-separable von Neumann-Morgenstern utility. It is optimal for the wage earner to retire from work if and only if his wealth exceeds a certain critical level which is obtained from a free boundary value problem. The wage earner consumes less and takes more risk than he would without anticipation of a better investment opportunity.
