This study is intended to look into the effects of depression and stress on college life adjustment of ophthalmic optics students. To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to 142 male and female students majoring in ophthalmic optics at colleges in Gangwon-do. The findings are as follows: Depression had a significant effect on academic adjustment and social adjustment, but no significant effect on emotional adjustment and college satisfaction. Stress also had a significant effect on academic adjustment, but no significant effect on social adjustment, emotional adjustment and college satisfaction. The above results showed that depression and stress were major factors affecting academic and social adjustments, and academic adjustment, respectively. Which means that depression restricted the activities of academic adjustment and social adjustment, and did not have a close relationship with psychological mechanisms - emotional adjustment and college life satisfaction. Stress also had a significant effect on academic adjustment, but did not have a direct relationship with social adjustment, emotional adjustment and college satisfaction.
Purpose: To establish basic data for effective management and quality improvement on clinical practice by investigating the clinical practice satisfaction of ophthalmic optics students and optical shop owners. Methods: A survey was administered for 281 students with experience in clinical practices and 105 optical shop owners regarding satisfaction of ophthalmic optics students and optical shops. And a statistical analysis was performed on the survey results. Results: 92.% (97 shops) of optical shop owners responded that clinical practice was necessary and there was a significant difference (p=0.004) according to gender. 4 weeks was the preferred length of practice period (53.3%) and there was a significant difference according to the size of the optical shops (p=0.000). Clinical practice satisfaction of students was 3.50 ${\pm}$ 0.68 and satisfaction for clinical practice program, clinical practice time and clinical practice shop (3.74 ${\pm}$ 0.80) were the highest and there was a significant difference according to the age of the students (p<0.05). Clinical practice satisfaction for optical shops was 4.08 ${\pm}$ 0.64 which is higher than student satisfaction. Satisfaction for clinical practice program was (4.17 ${\pm}$ 0.54) was the highest. Conclusions: To maximize the effects of clinical practice, a clinical practice program reflecting the satisfaction of students and optical shops is required and further research and attention are required.

This study is intended to determine the effects of volunteering participation motivation on major satisfaction and continuance willingness in ophthalmic optics students. To achieve this, a survey was empirically carried out to ophthalmic optics students. The research findings showed that self-development among participation motivation factors had a significant effect on major satisfaction and continuance willingness, leisure on continuance willingness, and major satisfaction on continuance willingness in the relationship between the effects of volunteering participation motivation on continuance willingness and major satisfaction in ophthalmic optics students, respectively, adopting 3 hypotheses. On the other hand, leisure had no significant effect on major satisfaction, interpersonal exchange on major satisfaction, and interpersonal exchange on continuance willingness, respectively, rejecting 3 hypotheses. Which suggest that the high self-development willingness of college students as a factor of college volunteering participation motivation causes them to have pride and specialization in their major. Consequently, pride and specialization in major cannot only increase an understanding of personality and major, but maintain a positive attitude, leading to a long-continuous willingness, not a simple one-time service.
Purpose: This study was to investigate and analyze understanding and knowledge of the eye in biological science education for middle and high school students in Busan. Methods: A total of 821 middle and high school students from four different schools participated by self-administered questionnaire test. The results were compared and analyzed by grade and gender. Results: In the survey of the understanding about the eye in the biological science curriculum, the results indicated that the more learning of the eye in biological science lecture led to the more understanding of the role of the eye. The difference of understanding the eye between learned and unlearned students in biological sciences lecture was significant (p<0.01). In the survey of the knowledge of the eye, students did not know about myopia and astigmatism (average value <50). Conclusions: As biological science education is one of the major factors to understand the role of the eye, this result suggests that more information about the eye in the curriculum of biology is included.
