Operation Limit of Flow Control for a Bistable Fluidic Valve

  • The limitation of flow control for a bistable fluidic valve has been investigated. The physical model of the fluidic valve includes two main flow outlets and two control flow inlets. The experiments were conducted with pressure regulators, mass flow meters, and piezo sensors to analyze flow switching characteristics of the fluidic valve. The experimental data such as pressure and mass flow rate of control flows and the switching time of the main flow was obtained with various operating conditions. The operation limit of the fluidic valve is identified, and a model equation for pre-estimating the minimum control pressure to switch the direction of the main flow has been proposed.

크레인 컨트롤러에서의 전도방지를 위한 디스플레이 콘텐츠 개발 (Development of Display Content for Overload Prevention in the Crane Controller)

  • Up to now, industrial cranes play important roles as the effective machines to carry heavy loads in the manufacturing premise, in the construction field and so on. And, a crane is widely used not only to daily work but also to carry heavy materials efficiently in a construction site for prevention of accident. However, the crane operation is highly complicated even for experts. In this paper, we developed the content of the crane mounted on the controller. This content overload conditions in the operating environment for the crane operator to warn, and the operation of equipment has the capability to limit automatically. The content for crane controller is to alert the operator overload and to limit the operation of equipment for stabilizing capabilities. The content of the flexible algorithm is based on stabilizing controllers, PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) to connect for using the equipment and electrical control systems to ensure the safety of workers and to improve the ability to work possible.

Using Largest Lyapunov Exponent to Confirm the Intrinsic Stability of Boiling Water Reactors

  • The aim of this paper is the study of instability state of boiling water reactors with a method based in largest Lyapunov exponents (LLEs). Detecting the presence of chaos in a dynamical system is an important problem that is solved by measuring the LLE. Lyapunov exponents quantify the exponential divergence of initially close state-space trajectories and estimate the amount of chaos in a system. This method was applied to a set of signals from several nuclear power plant (NPP) reactors under commercial operating conditions that experienced instabilities events, apparently each of a different nature. Laguna Verde and Forsmark NPPs with in-phase instabilities, and Cofrentes NPP with out-of-phases instability. This study presents the results of intrinsic instability in the boiling water reactors of three NPPs. In the analyzed cases the limit cycle was not reached, which implies that the point of equilibrium exerts influence and attraction on system evolution.

Evaluation of 18F Radioactive Concentration in Exhaust at Cyclotron Facility at Chosun University

  • The recent prevalence of PET examinations in Korea has led to an increase in the number of cyclotrons. The medical isotope $^{18}F$ produced in most cyclotron facilities currently operating in Korea is emitted into the environment during the production of [$^{18}F$]FDG, a cancerdiagnosis reagent. The amount of [$^{18}F$]FDG synthesized determines the radioactive concentration of $^{18}F$ in the exhaust. At some facilities, this amount temporarily exceeds the emission limit. In this study, we evaluated the $^{18}F$ radioactivity concentration in the exhaust from the cyclotron facility at Chosun University. The $^{18}F$ radioactivity concentration was measured using an air sampler and a HPGe semiconductor detector. The measurements showed that the radioactive concentration of $^{18}F$ in the exhaust at the cyclotron facility at Chosun University was the highest during [$^{18}F$]FDG synthesis but remained under the legal limit of $2,000Bq\;m^{-3}$.

원자로심의 열적여유도 증대를 위한CETOP-D의 입구유량인자 최적화 기법 개발 (Development of an Optimization Technique of CETOP-D Inlet Flow Factor for Reactor Core Thermal Margin Improvement)

  • 근래의 ABB/CE형 가압경수로들은, 정상운전 및 예상운전과도상태 중에 허용핵연료설계제한치가 위배되는 것을 방지하기 위하여, 노심 운전상태를 감시하는 디지탈노심감시계통, COLSS(Core Oper-ating Limit Supervisory System)를 보유하고있다. COLSS의 주요 기능 중 하나는. 측정되는 운전조건에 대한 최소 핵비등이탈률을 계산하여, 핵비등이탈에 대한 과출력여유도를 감시하는 것이다. COL-SS에서 최소 핵비등이탈률을 계산하는데 사용되는 CETOP-D 모델은 상세부수로분석코드인 TORC 모델에 대해 보수적으로 벤치마킹되며, 보정상수로서 고온집 합체의 입구유량인자를 사용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 CETOP-D 입구유량인자를 가장 제한적인 운전조건에서 보수적인 단일 값으로 결정하는 ABB/CE 방법을 배제하고, 운전조건에 따른 CETOP-D 입구유량인자 변화를 상관식형태로 결정하는 “CETOP-D 입구유량인자 최적화기법”을 개발하였다. 개발된 방법을 영광 3,4호기 초기노심의 노심운전영역에 적용한 결과, 기존의 ABB/CE 방법에 비하여 정상운전영역에서 핵비등이탈에 대한 과출력여유도가 2% 가량 증가하였다.

Lifetime Assessment for Oil-Paper Insulation using Thermal and Electrical Multiple Degradation

  • In this paper, in order to investigate the lifetime of oil-paper insulation, specimens were artificially aged with thermal and electrical multiple stresses. Accelerated ageing factors and equivalent operating years for each aging temperatures were derived from results of tensile strengths for the aged paper specimens. Also, the evaluation for the multi-stress aged specimens were carried out through the measurement of impulse breakdown voltage at high temperature of $85^{\circ}C$. The lifetimes of the oil-paper insulations were calculated with the value of 66.7 for 1.0 mm thickness specimens and 69.7 for 1.25 mm thickness specimens throughout the analysis of impulse BD voltages using equivalent operating years, which means that dielectric strengths would not be severely decreased until the mechanical lifetime limit. Therefore, for the lifetime evaluation of the oil-paper insulation, thermal aging would be considered as a dominant factor whereas electrical degradation would be less effective.

  • Dynamic forces due to mechanical and hydraulic related causes are always exerted on operating turbomachinery such as centrifugal pumps. To ensure the safety and the reliability of the pump. the magnitudes of the vibration must be kept within an acceptable limit. The focus of this paper is on the identification of the vibration behavior and the quantitative analysis of the hydraulic excitation forces. As the structure becomes more complex finite element analysis is essential to accurately predict the vibration characteristics and the excitation forces, This paper presents an experimental and analytical technique to find and solve to vibration problems in double volute double suction centrifugal pump. Measured vibration data due to the dynamic forces are presented and individual causes are identified, finally excitation forces of the pump are inversely estimated at each frequency on operating conditions.

  • The purpose of this research is on figuring out the optimal PID parameter using critical gain and critical frequency that are obtained by relay feedback. The operating has been done under the condition that the least information about the object plant is given and also the operating is processed within the limit which dose not give rise to bad influence on the object plant. For simulation auto-tuning PID controller using relay feedback which also works on on-line at the same time is developed by the upper procedure. This algorithm is tried to apply to level-temperature control plant on a real time with PC Interface Card.

  • The best index should show the margins to the operating limit at the present operating point without much efforts. Such voltage collapse proximity index has been proposed in this study. Differently from the normal procedure in which every bus load is increased at the same propotion, bus load increase toward the direction of T/L loss increase has been applied in this study. Sample studies show the usefulness and the practical applicability in voltage stability analysis.

  • A number of variables and environment are concerned for the basic design of train. The design of train ran be optimized by the ruining simulation. And using the simulation result the consuming energy, regenerating power, adhesion coefficient, train traction control capacity are respectable. Considering these variables and for more information operating time, operating period, standard velocity and limit speed, the all factors of train are optimized. The light-tail tram is mainly divided into linear motor train, road surface train, iron wheel train and rubber tire train, and the most profitable one for adhesion coefficient is rubber tire train and the train will be designed.
