This work proposes a calibration-free 14b 70MS/s 0.13um CMOS ADC for high-performance integrated systems such as WLAN and high-definition video systems simultaneously requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed ADC employs signal insensitive 3-D fully symmetric layout techniques in two MDACs for high matching accuracy without any calibration. A three-stage pipeline architecture minimizes power consumption and chip area at the target resolution and sampling rate. The input SHA with a controlled trans-conductance ratio of two amplifier stages simultaneously achieves high gain and high phase margin with gate-bootstrapped sampling switches for 14b input accuracy at the Nyquist frequency. A back-end sub-ranging flash ADC with open-loop offset cancellation and interpolation achieves 6b accuracy at 70MS/s. Low-noise current and voltage references are employed on chip with optional off-chip reference voltages. The prototype ADC implemented in a 0.13um CMOS is based on a 0.35um minimum channel length for 2.5V applications. The measured DNL and INL are within 0.65LSB and l.80LSB, respectively. The prototype ADC shows maximum SNDR and SFDR of 66dB and 81dB and a power consumption of 235mW at 70MS/s. The active die area is $3.3mm^2$.
This study developed a method to minimize rice damages and enhance timely control by accurately classifying Whitebacked Planthopper (WBPH). The body size of the 1st-3rd instar was 1.5-2 mm, and the body size of the 4-5 instar was 2.5-3.5 mm. In the third instar, the ratio of the front wing bud and the back wing-bud was 1:1. The fourth instar occupied 3/4 of the front wing-bud, and the 5th instar showed that the front wing-bud covers the back wing-bud. It was confirmed that the 1st instar does not have a sensory plate, the 2nd instar has 2-3, the 3rd instar has 4-5, the 4th instar has 6-9, the 5th instar has 10-15, and the adult instar has 15-20 sensory plates. The female spawning organs were reddish when the spawning horn was inserted. WBPH showed that the larvae of 2-3 larvae most actively feed on rice, and the damaged area was the stem of rice near the ground. In addition, a partial black wound was observed after the feeding. WBPH-susceptible 'Chucheong' was yellowish, and early growth was slower than that of 'Cheongcheong', which was resistant; moreover, a difference between susceptibility and resistance was observed. The identification of the number of such wounds in the bioassay will be a better basis for understanding the difference in susceptibility between WBPH strains and cultivars. These results will be used as basic data for cultivating the WBPH-resistant varieties of rice.

Manure recycle is an emerging issue in agriculture in Korea these days. Farmers are keeping eye on legume mixture with grasses for nitrogen fixation and transfer to companion crops by legumes. We had a trial to investigate the effect of different legume mixtures on nitrogen fixation and transfer in spring soil. The treatment was arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Three different mixtures were used(rye+hairy vetch, Italian ryegrass+crimson clover, oat+pea) and sowed in pots with paddy soil from western part of Korea(Seo Chon County). Pots with rye+vetch were transplanted from field of RDA(rural development administration) in Suwon on 2 February 2007 and other mixture treatments were sowed on early March with different sowing rate(7:3=Italian:crimson, 6:4=oat:pea). $(^{15}NH_4)_2SO_4$ solution at. $99.8\;atom%^{15}N$ was applied to the each pot at the rate of $2kg\;N\;ha^{-1}$. Application was done on 6 April at rye+vetch pots and remainder were applied on April 16. Forage were harvested from each pot at ground level in heading stage and separated into legume and grass. Total N content and $^{15}N$ value were determined using a continuous flow stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry. DM yield of rye+vetch, Italian+crimson and oat+pea were 6,607, 3,213 and 4,312 kg/ha, respectively. Proportion of N from fixation was 0.73(rye+vetch), 0.42(Italian+crimson) and 0.93(oat+pea). The percentages of N transfer from legume to grass were from 61% to 24% in different method by treatment and -35% to 21% in isotope dilution method.
This is clinicostatistical study of mandibular fractures. This study was based on a series of 677 patients with mandibular fracture during the period of 1982 to 1987. This results obtained were as follows : 1. In respect of incidence, there were high frequency in May and September, and in large city(63%). 2. The age frequency was the highest in the 20s-year old group (38.7%), and the ratio of male to female was 4.64 : 1. 3. The most common etiologic factor was blow(31.5%), but in children that was traffic accident followed by fall down. 4. The most common site of bone fractures was symphysis, followed by angle, condyle. In comparison of right and left sides, left side was more frequently involved(364 cases) than right side(257 cases). 5. The patients arrived in hospital immediately within 24 hours after accident were 62.9% of all, and 42.4% was arrived via private medical and dental clinic. 6. In respect of treatment, open reduction was 55.5% of all, closed reduction was 37.2%. In children, closed reduction was done in 50.6%.
In Arabidopsis thaliana, the microtubule-associated protein AtMAP65-1 shows various functions on microtubule dynamics and organizations. However, it is still an open question about whether AtMAP65-1 binds to tubulin dimers and how it regulates microtubule dynamics. In present study, the tubulin-binding activity of AtMAP65-1 was investigated. Pull-down and co-sedimentation exp eriments demonstrated that AtMAP65-1 bound to tubulin dimers,at a molar ratio of 1 : 1. Cross-linking experiments showed that AtMAP65-1 bound to tubulin dimers by interacting with $\alpha$-tubulin of the tubulin heterodimer. Interfering the bundling effect of AtMAP65-1 by addition of salt and monitoring the tubulin assembly, the experiment results indicated that AtMAP65-1 promoted tubulin assembly by interacting with tubulin dimers. In addition, five truncated versions of AtMAP65-1, namely AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339 (amino acids 340-587); AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N494 (amino acids 495-587); AtMAP65-1 340-494 (amino acids 340-494); AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$C495 (amino acids 1-494) and AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$C340 (amino acids 1-339), were tested for their binding activities and roles in tubulin polymerization in vitro. Four (AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339, $\Delta$N494, AtMAP65-1 340-494 and $\Delta$C495) from the five truncated proteins were able to co-sediment with microtubules, and three (AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339, $\Delta$N494 and AtMAP65-1 340-494) of them could bind to tubulin dimers in vitro. Among the three truncated proteins, AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N339 showed the greatest activity to promote tubulin polymerization, AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$N494 exhibited almost the same activity as the full length protein in promoting tubulin assembly, and AtMAP65-1 340-494 had minor activity to promote tubulin assembly. On the contrast, AtMAP65-1 $\Delta$C495, which bound to microtubules but not to tubulin dimers, did not affect tubulin assembly. Our study suggested that AtMAP65-1 might promote tubulin assembly by binding to tubulin dimers in vivo.

Kaloula borealis is the species of Amphibia which belongs to Kaloula genus and it is the only species inhabiting in Korea. The population size and habitat of Kaloula borealis have been significantly decreased on a national scale due to the diversified developments and the uses of agricultural pesticides. Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment has designated and managed them as the class II of endangered species, in accordance with "Endangered Species Protection and Management Act"; however, a particular study focused on the ecological restoration of Kaloula borealis is desperately needed to prevent their extinction. This study was conducted to propose the HSI (Habit Suitability Index) of Kaloula borealis based on literature survey on ecology and habitats of Kaloula borealis, as well as their HSI. Factors to be investigated in HSI include: space, feed, cover, water(breeding) and threatening factors and the variables of each factor were also proposed. The distance from wetland, grassland, farm, stream and rice paddy, as well as the altitude of spawning pond were proposed as the variables of space, whereas the bed structure of forest and low-rise grassland were proposed as the variables of feeding. The variables of water (breeding) include the area of permanent and temporary wetlands, coverage of emerged pants (ratio of open water), water depth, water temperature, water quality, pH level, etc., whereas the presence of predator, distance from street and pollutants were proposed as the variables of threatening factor. The sub-standards by HSI factor of Kaloula borealis have been drawn from in-depth consultation with experts and based on this, the final HSI of Kaloula borealis was developed.

Background: Cardiac involvement of Behcets disease is very rate, however, the prognosis of Behcet disease depends on cardiovascular complications. In this article, we described surgical treatment of aortic insufficiency with Behcets disease. Material and Method: From March 1986 to February 1998, we operated on 10 patients of aortic insufficiency with Behcets disease. Male to female ratio was 8 to 2, and age ranged from 21 to 40 years(mean 32.8 years). There were 8 patients with evidence of Behcets disease and another 2 patients had some suspicious findings of Behcets disease(i.e., prosthetic value dehiscence, hypertrophied aortic wall). Adequate preoperative medical treatment for Behcets disease was done in 3 patients. Result: We performed 24 open heart surgeries in 10 patients. Redo value replacements using prosthetic valves were done in 4 patients. Among them, 2 patients were operated on for a second redo valve replacement and one of them operated on for a 4th and 5th operation because of recurrent paravalvular leakage. These 4 patients expired. 1 patient who had undergons tissue value replacement is alive. 1 patient who underwent Cabrol operation expired dut to rupture of graft anastomosis site. We used homografts in 3 patients. In 2 of them, we performed aortic root replacement and subcoronary valve replacement in another patient. The patient who underwent subcoronary valve insertion had remnant aortic insufficiency, so we are closely observing him. We also performed Ross operation in a 24 year old female who suffered severs aortic insufficiency and endocarditis after aortic valvuloplasty. 5 patients are alive and mean follow up duration is 49.0 months. Among them, we used homografts or sutografts in 4 patients. We could observe excellent clinical results in the patients who underwent aortic root replacement using homograft and they were treated medically for Behcets disease. Conclusion: We concluded that adequate preporative diagnosis, clinical suspicion, and periopertive medical treatment for Behcets disease are very important for the result of surgical management of aortic insufficiency with Behcets disease. The use of homograft or autograft was helpful for the healing of anastomosis site and we should carefully observe the long term follow up results.

Recently, the government has been working feverously to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emission by enacting Basic Act on Low Carbon Green Growth at the national level. Improving the insulation performance of building exterior and insulator can reduce the energy in the building sector. This study is about developing light-weight foamed concrete insulation panel that can be applied to buildings to save energy and to find the optimal condition for the development of insulation materials that can save energy by enhancing its physical, kinetic and thermal characteristics. Various experimental factors and conditions were considered in the study such as foam agent types (AES=Alcohol Ethoxy Sulfate, AOS=Alpha-Olefin Sulfonate, VS=Vegetable Soap, FP=Fe-Protein), foam agent dilution concentration (1, 3, 5%), and foam percentage (30, 50, 70%). Experiment results indicated that the surface tension of aqueous solution including foam agent, was lower when AOS was used over other foam agents. FP produced relatively stable foams in 3% or more, which produced unstable foams containing high water content and low surface tension when diluted at low concentration. Depending on foam agent types, compressive strength and thermal conductivity were similar at low density range but showed some differences at high concentration range. In addition, when concentrations of foam agent and foaming ratio increased, pore size increased and open pores are formed. In all types of foam agent, thermal conductivity were excellent, satisfying KS standards. The most outstanding performance for insulation panel was obtained when FP 3% was used.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the clinical prognostic factors which may affect the postoperative clinical results of the unstable ankle fractures. Materials and Methods: This study is based on 62 unstable ankle fractures treated by open reduction and internal fixation from May 1994 to June 2000, with a minimum follow-up period of 12 months(range: 13 months-7 years 3 months). The 62 patients were average 39.1 years old with male: female ratio of 41:21. Based on Lauge-Hansen classification, the supination-external rotation type was the most common with 36 (58.1%) cases. The clinical results was assessed by American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS) functional scale. The sex, age, body weight, trauma-operation interval, operation time, cause of injury, fracture type were statistically analyzed as the possible postoperative clinical prognostic factors. Results: Postoperative AOFAS functional scale was average 82.1 points with 22(35.5 %) cases excellent, 12(19.4%) good. 16(25.8%) fair and 12(19.4%) cases poor results. The age and the operation time were found to be statistically significant factors affecting the prognosis(p<0.001). The sex, weight, trauma-operation interval factors did not significantly affect the clinical results. The pronation-external rotation type showed better clinical tendency among the fracture types, but without the statistical significance. Conclusion: The surgically treated unstable ankle fractures in patients whose age was above 41 years old or operation time exceeding 90 minutes showed significantly poor clinical results.
