Pragmatics and Translation in the Use of English Words in Banner Advertising on Portal Sites

  • In modern socity, online communication plays a vital role in social interaction of communicities. It is so common for online users to see display advertisements online while surting the Net. Specifically, most web banners diaplayed on portral sites consist of words, phrase, and sentences. Considering that the primary purpose of adversiting is persuation, the advertisement such as web banners is an examplary case to show the interaction among pragmatics, translation and advertising because the linguistic expressions employed in the banners represent its pragmatic use, leading to persuation and functioning as a communicative tool for the smooth communication between source text producers (adversisers) and target audience (online users). This can be part of the so-called translation process. In particular, we can easily witness the use of English words in web banners. Thus, this paper looks at web banners displayed on major four portal sites-Naver, Daum, Nate, and Zum, giving a special attention to the content contained in the web banners as well as the use of English words. As s result, we found that the frequencies of English words in each portal site were higher when the advertised products were targeting young online users, whereas the frequencies were lower when the users are older group than young people. The finding supports the prgramatic perspective that linguistic expressions are understood in social contexts and shows the so-called translation process which involves a shift from semantic meaning of words to their pragmatic use. Finally, we can conclude that the interaction is possible when we have the framework where translation, pragmatics, and advertising are all communitative components for social interaction within social contexts.

온라인배너타입이 영화관람의향에 미치는 영향 -애니메이션, 공포, SF액션 장르의 영화를 대상으로- (Impact of Online Banner Type on Willingness to Watch Movie)

  • 본 연구는 영화 온라인 광고를 대상으로 배너광고 유형에 따른 영화관람의향의 차이와 이에 대한 플로우 및 연상의 매개효과를 검증하여, 영화 배너광고의 상호작용성이 수용자들에게 어떠한 형태로 광고효과를 유발하는지 살펴보는 데에 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 세 장르의 영화에 대한 예고편 배너, 애드버게임 배너 실험물을 제작하여 성인 146명을 대상으로 온라인 설문을 진행하였다. 연구결과, 플로우는 상호작용성이 높은 애드버게임 배너를 사용한 사람들에게서 보다 높게 나타났으며 영화에 대한 연상은 예고편 배너유형의 사용자에서 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 또한 영화관람의향은 애드버게임 배너 유형의 사용자에서 높게 나타났다. 한편, 배너유형과 영화관람의향 간의 플로우와 연상이 가지는 각각의 매개효과를 검증한 결과 플로우는 배너유형에 따른 영화관람의향에 대해 매개효과를 보이는 반면, 연상은 매개역할을 하지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 가설 검증을 통해 본 연구는 애드버게임 유형의 배너의 상호작용성은 배너 사용자의 플로우 경험을 유도하여 다른 유형의 배너에 비해 높은 영화관람의향을 이끌어내는 요인으로 작용한다는 결론을 도출할 수 있었다.

온라인 동영상 콘텐츠 유형별 프리롤 광고회피에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Factors Affecting Pre-Roll Advertising Avoidance by Online Video Content Types)

  • 본 연구는 온라인 동영상 콘텐츠를 시청하기 전에 재생되는 프리롤(pre-roll) 광고의 회피 요인을 탐색하고자 방송 콘텐츠 클립과 웹 오리지널 콘텐츠로 구분하여 이용 동기를 살펴보고, 콘텐츠 요인과 광고 요인이 광고 회피에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 방송 콘텐츠 클립은 오락성/습관성 이용 및 사회적 교류가 높을수록, 웹 콘텐츠는 오락성/이용편리성 및 선택적 이용 동기가 높을수록 이용시간이 긴 것으로 나타났다. 다음으로 방송 콘텐츠 클립의 경우 지각된 침입성이 광고회피에 가장 큰 영향을 미치고 있으며 웹 콘텐츠는 광고에 대한 긍정적 태도가 유의미한 요인인 것으로 나타났다. 콘텐츠 선호도나 인게이지먼트와 같은 콘텐츠 요인은 광고 회피에 아무런 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 밝혀졌다.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the causal relationship between new brand awareness and new brand awareness according to type of restaurant menu purchase information. This study will provide basic research data on viral marketing strategy through online marketing of restaurant companies. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of information obtained through blog information and SNS advertisement on word effect (information acceptance and information transfer) and to investigate the effect of word of mouth effect on consumers' purchase intention. A total of 206 samples were used for this analysis and regression analysis was performed using SPSS 18.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, experience type, timely relevance and consensus among the characteristics of blog information affect information acceptance. Experience, and accuracy are affecting information delivery. Second, information discomfort among the characteristics of SNS advertising information influences the acceptance of information. Information, entertainment and trust are affecting information dissemination. Third, information acceptance and information diffusion affect purchase intention.

  • 현재 사물인터넷 기술의 발전으로 언제 어디서나 지속적으로 고객과 상거래 기업이 연결되는 옴니채널 방식으로 비즈니스가 변화하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 옴니채널을 제공할 수 있도록 기업이 온라인 서비스를 통해 오프라인 매장으로 고객을 유도하여 O2O 비즈니스를 활성하기 위한 모바일 서비스 아키텍쳐를 제안한다. 제안하는 모바일 서비스 아키텍쳐는 고객에게 서비스를 제공할 때 커스터마이제이션 서비스를 이용하여 특화된 서비스가 가능한 동적 아키텍쳐를 제안한다. 제안하는 동적 모바일 서비스 아키텍쳐는 비콘 센서와 커스터마이제이션 프레임워크으로 구성된다. 사례연구에서는 동적 쿠폰서비스와 동적 광고 서비스를 제공하여 동적 모바일 서비스 아키텍쳐의 적합성을 검증한다.

  • E-Commerce is a buzzword well known for electronic commerce activities including but not limited to the online shopping, digital payment transactions, and B2B online trading. In today's digital age, e-commerce has been playing a very important and vital role in areas such as retail shopping, sales automation, supply chain management, marketing and advertisement, and payment services. With a huge amount of data been collected from various e-commerce services available, there are multiple opportunities to use that data to analyze graphs and trends. Strategize profitable activities, and forecast future trade. This paper explains a contemporary approach for collecting key data metrics and implementing cost-effective automation that will support in improving conversion rates and sales performance of the e-commerce websites resulting in increased profitability.

Effect of the Scarcity Message Type and Sender Type on Purchase Intention in Instagram as a Distribution Channel

  • Purpose: Social networking services have been recognized as an attractive distribution channel at a time when efforts to deliver effective messages to consumers are essential amid a flood of advertisements in the multi-media era. In that sense, this study investigated the effect of the scarcity message type (limited-time vs. limited-quantity) and sender type (corporate vs. consumer) on the intention to purchase golf equipment by Instagram distribution channel. Research design, data and methodology: Data from 108 college students in their 20s and 30s with experience using Instagram were collected online through convenience sampling. A frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, independent sample t-test, and two-way analysis of variance were performed using SPSS 23.0. Results: The results showed that limited-quantity messages induce a higher purchase intention than limited-time messages. Similarly, consumer-sent advertisements induce a higher purchase intention than corporate-sent advertisements. Further, there is no statistically significant interaction effect of the scarcity message type and sender type on the intention to purchase golf equipment. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in verifying consumers' purchase intention depending on the type of scarcity message and the type of sender in Instagram advertisements. The results yield significant implications for marketers and several directions for future research.

The Impact of Social Network Service, Trust and Cognition on Customer Loyalty in Internet Shopping

  • The development of information technology improves the globalization of the world economy. This change was able to expand the cyber space, and the online community known as the cyber community is made within the existing offline community. From the cyber community's activity, the concept of social network services created, and recently developed social computing. Social computing is the current situation and the next step in the online community. Currently, most CIOs are using social computing for workplace empowerment. As online transactions become more active, the strategy to increase customer loyalty in Internet shopping is an effective tool to increase profit for the company, and as a method to maintain competitive. With the growth of electronic commerce, through insurance of customer loyalty on the Internet, a company can establish a long-term relationship with customers, so for this, it is important to have reliable relationship with customers. Also, through advertisement and commercial information, the cognition of Internet shopping looks can be effective in retaining customers. In this study, it explores how social computing and trust and cognition of Internet shopping are effective in maintaining customer loyalty. As the result of study, the trust and cognition of Internet shopping are significantly effective on customer loyalty, but the sense of social computing. Still, social computing has not matured enough to be as effective in retaining customer loyalty. However, it does indicate that social computing has significantly increased the trust and cognition in Internet shopping. In this study, as the concepts of the social network service and social computing are applied in Internet shopping, which are actively discussed by scholars, it is expected that the basis of the study could improve and present the idea of social shopping.

몰입 정도가 온라인 게임 내 PPL 인지에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 (The Study about influence of immersiveness on PPL advertising in on-line game)

  • 본 연구에서는 온라인 게임의 이용자의 게임 몰입도가 PPL의 효과에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 한다. 간접 광고 효과에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 노출 빈도, Brand의 배치 형태, 식역하 지각에서의 자극, 제품에 대한 관여도, PPL에 대한 사전지식을 고려해 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 변인요소들을 통제하고 게임매체의 특성인 몰입 정도를 조절하기 위하여 게임을 통해 광고에 노출된 그룹과 같은 자극을 영상을 통해 노출된 그룹으로 나누어 두 그룹의 PPL인지와 제품에 대한 태도변화에 대해 알아보았다. 게임몰입이 클 경우 광고에 대한 정보처리는 방해를 받았으며, 따라서 미디어에 삽입된 PPL광고의 인지율이 떨어졌다. 그러나 PPL의 배치요인에 따라서는 인지에 차이를 보였다. 이를 이용하여 고몰입 상태의 초점시각의 움직임에 따른 이미지 인식의 정확성을 조사하여 사용자의 인지에 따른 PPL 디자인 법을 제안하였다. 본 연구는 게임 내 PPL을 통한 수익구조의 잠재적 효과를 조명하며 전략적으로 게임내의 PPL을 디자인 하는 방법 에 대한 논의를 포함한다.

A study on legal improvement on Online P2P financial loan

  • Along with the recent growth of Fintech industry and low interest rate basis, one of the alternative investment technique for expecting higher investment profit, P2P loan using P2P financial system is greatly increasing. P2P loan can be referred to as a type of Crowdfunding that the law of Crowdfunding (adopted to revised Capital Market Act) enacted on January 25th 2016 only allows investment type Crowdfunding so that it can be used as a tool of raising fund for startup and venture companies. Also, it is true that Korean government could not make any legislative foundation related to P2P loan. At this moment, those online platform companies mediating P2P loan are not included as financial companies, expected to cause various legal arguments. Financial Services Commission has released a guideline in February of this year saying that limit of P2P loan is 10 million Korean Won per arbitrating company and 5 million Korean Won per borrower. However, what is more important is to make a law supporting this institutional system. If legislation on P2P loan is implemented without care, it may disturb growth of the field but it may result in the damage of investors if not clearly defined by law. As this is the case, first, "revision of execution regulations for loan business" should take place as soon as possible to intensify inspection of loan companies by registering them to Financial Services Commission. Second, saving customer fund separately in the their organization. Third, making law on protecting investors such as regulating exaggerative advertisement. Fourth, to have transparent and fair public announcement system, standardized agreement and guideline describing clear understanding on autonomous public information publication of P2P loan online platform business and information on the borrower.
