Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore health care workers awareness and performance of standard precautions. Methods: Participants were 296 health care workers including nurses, physicians, and medical technicians. Awareness and performance of standard precautions were measured with 4-point Likert scales. The data were analyzed with t-tests and one-way ANOVA by using SPSS 18.0. Results: The mean scores of awareness were 3.72 in nurses, 3.62 in physicians, and 3.47 in medical technicians. There was a significant difference of awareness by occupational classification (F=12.39, p<.001). The mean scores of performance of standard precautions were 3.45 in nurses, 3.19 in physicians, and 3.23 in medical technicians. There was a significant difference of performance by occupational classification (F=10.98, p<.001). In addition, the score of performance of standard precautions was significantly lower than that of awareness (t=11.89, p<.001). Conclusion: The results of this study indicated that awareness and performance of standard precautions were different by occupational classification. To improve performance of standard precautions in hospitals, it is necessary to provide a distinct infection control program by occupational classification.
Purpose: This study was done to develop strategies for better education and career adaptation of nursing students by investigating the recognition and intentions of nursing students and graduates on the nursing and a future career. Method: Data was collected from a survey conducted between the 1st of October and 5th of December, 2007. Participants were 113 students and 37 graduates of one nursing college. Result: The majority of participants thought that atmosphere and relationships were important criteria to choose a job. Most of them selected nursing major not because their aptitude but because of its professionalism and job stability. Most wanted to go to graduate school and were interested in a nurse specialist program, especially for critical and emergency care. The preferred nursing role changed from recovery care to health promotion as they advanced in their studies. They thought work overload and fatigue from three shift as barriers for a longer stay as a clinical nurse. Conclusion: This study is meaningful in a way that it suggests some strategies for promoting nursing professionalism and adaptation to working field. In order to generalize the results of this study, replicate studies need to be conducted with nation-wide samples.
Purpose: This study was done to identify the relationship of knowledge of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), general characteristics associated with CPR and attitude toward CPR by college students. Method: The research design for this study was a descriptive survey design with a convenience sample. Data collection was done using self-report questionnaires with 424 college students. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression. Results: Most of the students had received CPR training (58.3%) and 17% of the students had given help on request in an emergency situation. But only 11.3% of them performed CPR. The mean scores for knowledge of CPR and attitude toward CPR by students were $5.79{\pm}2.41$, $33.8{\pm}6.53$, respectively. The 18.3% of explained variance for attitude toward CPR was significantly explained by gender, age, having received CPR training and knowledge of CPR. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study the development of CPR training programs which are tailored to personal characteristics of college students are necessary to improve attitudes toward CPR. Further nursing research is needed on the characteristics of college students associated with attitude toward cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between emotional intelligence and stress coping of nurses in hospitals. Method: The study was a descriptive-correlational study with a convenience sample of 298 nurses. Descriptive statistics t-test, Mann-Whitney U, One-way ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients were used for data analysis. Results: The results of this study were as follows; Emotional intelligence was higher in married nurses than unmarried nurses (t=-2.90, p=.004). Nurses with a clinical career of 4~7 years had better stress coping than nurses with shorter careers (F=5.60, p=.004). Ward nurses better stress coping than nurses in emergency rooms and Intensive care units (F=4.43, p=.013). Fixed shift nurses had better stress coping than nurses on rotation shifts (t=-2.37, p=.019). There was a significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and stress coping(r=.29, p<.001). Conclusion: The results indicate that stress coping is better in nurses with higher emotional intelligence, 4~7 year clinical experience, working on ward a as well as having a fixed shift. However further development and application of programs which can improve nurses' emotional intelligence are needed.
Purpose : This study examined factors influencing the attitudes towards nurse-led defibrillation in the emergency department (ED) and intensive care unit (ICU). Methods : This was a cross-sectional study. A total of 212 nurses in the ED and ICU from three general hospitals responded to the survey. Data were collected between September and October 2015 using structured questionnaires. Independent t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression were used to analyze factors affecting nurses' attitudes towards nurse-led defibrillation. Results : The mean score of nurses' attitudes towards nurse-led defibrillation was 61.37 of a possible 91. Hierarchical multiple regression showed that nurses' attitudes towards nurse-led defibrillation were significantly affected by their experiences regarding cardiopulmonary resuscitation (p=.003), knowledge regarding electrocardiogram interpretation and defibrillation (p=.007), and tenure in ED or ICU (p=.043). Conclusion : Results indicate that employers should set policies to support nurses in maintaining their careers in the ED or ICU and conduct systematic educational programs for them. This will increase nurses' confidence in performing defibrillation, which will lead to early defibrillation during in-hospital cardiac arrest. Consequently, it can be a strategy to increase the survival rate of cardiac arrest patients.
Purpose. The checked of perception for the protection of personal medical information of EMT student and Nursing student. Methods. Nursing students and EMT students 200 questionnaires were collected and Frequency analysis, Chi-square test, one-way ANOVA was performed for using the Windows SPSS(ver. 12.0). Results. Most of the subjects were aware of the protection law of personal information and Infringement of the privacy of personal information will be exposed. also, Education is needed privacy(EMT students $3.84{\pm}0.96$, Nursing students $3.73{\pm}0.99$). EMT($3.99{\pm}1.00$) and Nursing($4.07{\pm}0.94$)students due to exposure to both the patient's personal information privacy was violated would get recognized. Exposure to the computerization of information privacy will be exploited in other agencies(EMT students $3.78{\pm}0.88$, Nursing students $3.95{\pm}0.94$) was called. Conclusions. For the protection of personal health information, education needs to be expanded.
We evaluate the technical and organizational aspects of the severe accident management guideline (SAMG), focusing on the decision-making process in the technical support center (TSC). From the technical aspects, we conclude that the present SAMG is a good tool that can assist the TSC in efficiently managing probable severe accidents. However, we suggest that the clear separation of the emergency operating procedure (EOP) and SAMG, which shifts plant control from the main control room (MCR) to the TSC, might not be an effective framework from an organizational perspective. Studies on organizational behavior demonstrate that a group decision made under a risky situation might be polarized in either a risky or cautious way. We recognize that we cannot be free from the polarization effect since the current SAMG recommends that the TSC evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of strategies to be implemented and choose the best one based on a group decision process. Illustrative examples of accident management under risky conditions are recapitulated from previous studies of the authors and we propose that the SAMG should be more proceduralized to remove this polarization from the decision-making process.
This study is to introduce a comprehensive framework of a crisis management system developed at a prominent hospital in South Korea. Throughout recent decades, especially in the recent years, the way in which to cope with both internal and external challenges has been one of the most critical issues. Since the incident management system in the U.S. is acknowledged as the most advanced crisis management model in the world, a portion of this study refers to the Hospital Incident Command System(HICS) provided by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority(EMSA). Nevertheless, the framework suggested in this article was designed based on a distinctive Korean hospital setting. The main contents of this study are as follows; categorization of each type of crisis, organization of a crisis management team in a non-crisis or crisis state, crisis assessment by life cycle stage, and establishment of crisis management protocol. Even though many types of crises are unspecified, those can be categorized into external crisis, medical crisis, and utility & activity failure. A crisis management organization should be operated and consisted differently- depending on a crisis or non-crisis situation. From a life-cycle perspective, the range by which the crisis should be managed extends from pre-stage to post-stage of the crisis. It is important to set proper scenarios and manuals by crisis type to develop a crisis management framework of high quality. With continuous efforts, hospitals can prepare for the uncertainty to better concentrate on core business operations.

Foreign direct investment (FDI) and export are now often regarded as two of the most important drivers of economic growth on a worldwide scale. The impact of foreign direct investment on Vietnam's exports is investigated in this study. The data for the time period 1985-2020 was obtained from the World Bank and the Vietnam General Statistics Office. The years 1985 to 2020 were chosen to evaluate the evolution of macroeconomic parameters since 1986. The impact of the Covid-19 epidemic on renovation reform. The Johansen co-integration test proved that FDI and domestic investment (DI) had a long-term positive impact on Vietnam's export growth. The Granger causality test revealed that there is a one-way relationship between FDI and export in the near term, but no such relationship exists between DI and export. The result of the variance decomposition study demonstrates that the FDI sector has a bigger impact on Vietnam's export growth than the DI sector. Furthermore, export activities are vulnerable to FDI sector shocks. As a result, in recent years, FDI has been regarded as the most important factor of export growth in Vietnam.
