  • In this paper, we propose a method for verifying the location of the books in working order to enhance the effiency of library management. On open libraries, occasionally people relocate the book by mistake or intention after reading one. In this occasion, the book is assorted as a lost property and cannot be lended to others, even though it is still in the library. To solve this problem, the system we propose takes an image of the book selves by a mobile robot and extracts the classifying information of the book. After comparison between current location of the book and assigned location of the library database, information of the mislocated books is notified to the librarian.

  • With the introduction of 'Reading One Book a Semester' in the 2015 curriculum, more and more activities are being done to read the same books on a classroom basis. Accordingly, librarians need to properly support the teacher's book recommendation and book selection process, which consists of classes. This study aims to establish effective school library services based on this by identifying differences in elementary school students' reading interests when reading a book recommended by a teacher in the class. To this end, all students of A Elementary School were given a book selection class by class to select one of the teacher's recommended books, and students were interested in reading before and after reading. As a result, students who read the books they chose showed higher 'interest after reading' than those who read the books they did not choose. However, students who had high 'interest before reading' even though they read books they did not choose showed high 'interest after reading'. 'Interest before reading' were higher for students who were provided with book information evenly and used the school library more frequently. Therefore, librarians need to provide a variety of book information and services to increase the frequency of school library use to increase 'interest before reading', which positively affects self-selective reading.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore application of topic modeling for topic analysis of book report. Topic modeling can be understood as one method of topic analysis. This analysis was conducted with texts in 23 book reports using LDA function of the "topicmodels" package provided by R. According to the result of topic modeling, 16 topics were extracted. The topic network was constructed by the relation between the topics and keywords, and the book report network was constructed by the relation between book report cases and topics. Next, Centrality analysis was conducted targeting the topic network and book report network. The result of this study is following these. First, 16 topics are shown as network which has one component. In other words, 16 topics are interrelated. Second, book report was divided into 2 groups, book reports with high centrality and book reports with low centrality. The former group has similarities with others, the latter group has differences with others in aspect of the topics of book reports. The result of topic modeling is useful to identify book reports' topics combining with network analysis.

  • This study, by case investigation of book review, one of user-participation services in university library, and questionnaire investigation on librarians, aims at suggesting current statuses, problems, and improvement. This study investigated the services performed at 35 4-year universities establishing the department of library and information science. This study, except 7 ones which doesn't offer the service, investigated the service offered by 28 universities, classifying with 3 contents. As a result, the publicity and method in university library including event had an influence on use. This study was performed to increase participation rate and to promote reading activity. This study judged that book review is indispensible to university libraries. Libraries presented the opinions that, for the purpose of promoting active book review, libraries have to perform positive publicity, attractive event, support in the level of schools, librarians' wills, expansion of discussion cultures, offer of unified book review among universities, and linkage method with other organization reading program.

In this catalog, 89 kinds (over 500 books) were recarded, included 21 kinds of Korean Hangul novels. Except the 30 kinds of boohs, many similar and same titles and contents of works are remained. The compiler of this book catalog was unknown. But, according to the characteristic of the collection and the calligraphic style of this catalog, the compiler shall be woman who may have some connection between the royal palace.

  • Since the users have direct access to search and browse freely, the open access system has been employed to all the usual modern libraries. However, library space shortage problem created by the continuously increasing printed materials caused the degradation of usability and quality of the library space. Open Access system is superior in user convenience but is inferior in space efficiency. Keeping the open access system is considered as one of the reasons of the space shortage problem. Even though the closed access system does not provide free access or easy browsing for the uses, it's space efficiency is much higher than the open access system. The closed access system should be employed as a plan to relieve space shortage problem. Since the closed access system does not allow the public direct access to books, it is very economical. It also provides much better space efficiency with higher book shelving density. In this article, closed access library system models and their characteristics are examined as the reduction plans for the library space shortage problems.

  • The university library is supposed to build its collection in an organized and controlled manner to achieve its one goals for information services, and the book selection is an essential element of librarianship to support the university process of research and education effectively. This study focuses on the faculty influence on the book selection process of the university library. the researcher concludes that too much hegemony in the hands of professors is not appropriate and at least part of it should be handed over to librarians.

  • Among the numerous duties of a librarian in a library, the work of arranging books is a job that the librarian has to do one by one. Thus, the cost of labor and time is large. In order to solve this problem, the interest in book-arranging robots based on artificial intelligence has recently increased. In this paper, we propose the K-ACO algorithm, which is the shortest path algorithm for multi-stops that can be applied to the library book arrangement robots. The proposed K-ACO algorithm assumes multiple robots rather than one robot. In addition, the K-ACO improves the ANT algorithm to create K clusters and provides the shortest path for each cluster. In this paper, the performance analysis of the proposed algorithm was carried out from the perspective of book arrangement time. The proposed algorithm, the K-ACO algorithm, was applied to a university library and compared with the current book arrangement algorithm. Through the simulation, we found that the proposed algorithm can allocate fairly, without biasing the work of arranging books, and ultimately significantly reduce the time to complete the entire work. Through the results of this study, we expect to improve quality services in the library by reducing the labor and time costs required for arranging books.
