종이접기 구조의 자세 파악을 위한 폴딩 센서 개발 (Estimation of the State of Folding Structures using a Novel Sensor)

  • In this paper, a folding sensor based on capacitance is proposed. The sensor was developed to sense the length and angle data for the milli-scale actuators without causing any interference to the actuating joints. For the sensing and testing the robotic joint with reducing the cost and complexity aspects of manufacturing, a simple composition was adopted. The sensor comprises a pair of copper tapes, papers, and wires. The complete sensing unit is constructed by bonding the tapes with the papers and soldering the wire to the copper parts. For accuracy, a teensy 4.0 board, which has a 12-bit ADC resolution, is employed. Furthermore, the sensed analog data is not translated into the unit of capacitance for accuracy; however, it is filtered using a low-pass filter and subsequently, a Butter-worth filter. The data obtained demonstrate a periodic waveform, which implies that the data are in good agreement with the hypothesis set prior to the experiments. Compared to other milli-scale sensors, this could be a better option for sensing the length and angle data for milliscale actuators.

GPU-Based ECC Decode Unit for Efficient Massive Data Reception Acceleration

  • In transmitting and receiving such a large amount of data, reliable data communication is crucial for normal operation of a device and to prevent abnormal operations caused by errors. Therefore, in this paper, it is assumed that an error correction code (ECC) that can detect and correct errors by itself is used in an environment where massive data is sequentially received. Because an embedded system has limited resources, such as a low-performance processor or a small memory, it requires efficient operation of applications. In this paper, we propose using an accelerated ECC-decoding technique with a graphics processing unit (GPU) built into the embedded system when receiving a large amount of data. In the matrix-vector multiplication that forms the Hamming code used as a function of the ECC operation, the matrix is expressed in compressed sparse row (CSR) format, and a sparse matrix-vector product is used. The multiplication operation is performed in the kernel of the GPU, and we also accelerate the Hamming code computation so that the ECC operation can be performed in parallel. The proposed technique is implemented with CUDA on a GPU-embedded target board, NVIDIA Jetson TX2, and compared with execution time of the CPU.

  • 소형 적외선영상 호밍시스템은 지상의 표적에 대하여 주야간 적외선 영상처리를 통하여 표적을 식별하고 주요 표적에 대하여 표적을 탐색, 탐지하여 추적하는 적외선 영상센서를 보유한 추적시스템이다. 본 논문에서는 지상의 표적을 주야간 적외선 영상을 통하여 표적 정보를 획득하여 실시간 영상처리를 통하여 표적을 식별하기 위한 고속의 CPU와 FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)가 탑재된 보드 개발의 내용을 설명한다. CPU, FPGA 선정과 영상신호처리를 위한 CPU-FPGA 결합 아키텍처에 대하여 제안하고 또한 김발구조의 적외선센서를 제어하기 위한 FPGA를 활용에 대하여 설명한다.

대화형 음성인식 이동로봇에 관한 연구 (A study on the interactive speech recognition mobile robot)

  • This paper is a study on the implementation of speech recognition mobile robot to which the interactive speech recognition techniques is applied. The speech command uttered the sentential connected word and is asserted through the wireless mic system. This speech signal transferred LPC-cepstrum and shorttime energy which are computed from the received signal on the DSP board to notebook PC. In notebook PC, DP matching technique is used for recognizer and the recognition results are transferred to the motor control unit which output pulse signals corresponding to the recognized command and drive the stepping motor. Grammar network applied to reduce the recognition speed of the recogniger, so that real time recognition is realized. The misrecognized command is revised by interface revision through the conversation with mobile robot. Therefore, user can move the mobile robot to the direction which user wants.

DSP를 이용한 가변어휘 음성인식기 구현에 관한 연구 (Implementation of Vocabulary- Independent Speech Recognizer Using a DSP)

  • In this paper, we implemented a vocabulary-independent speech recognizer using the TMS320VC33 DSP. For this implementation, we had developed very small-sized recognition engine based on diphone sub-word unit, which is especially suited for embedded applications where the system resources are severely limited. The recognition accuracy of the developed recognizer with 1 mixture per state and 4 states per diphone is 94.5% when tested on frequently-used 2000 words set. The design of the hardware was focused on minimal use of parts, which results in reduced material cost. The finally developed hardware only includes a DSP, 512 Kword flash ROM and a voice codec. In porting the recognition engine to the DSP, we introduced several methods of using data and program memory efficiently and developed the versatile software protocol for host interface. Finally, we also made an evaluation board for testing the developed hardware recognition module.

  • The education system in this paper is used to demonstrate and educate the effects of electromagnetic induction. Placing an aluminum ring over the core and switching on AC source causes the ring to jump in the air due to induced currents in the ring producing a magnetic field opposed to that produced in the core. To control the position of the ring by only the current, it is to require nonlinear control algorithm and control board that is composed of photo sensors, decode circuit, computer communication, and power electronics circuit. This paper provides the development for education system in detail and the effects of dynamic neural networks for nonlinear control with on line is studied.

  • TECA (Terminal Cabin), the terminal device which offers the information to the driver about the condition of High Speed Train(KTX), analyzes the system of train and plays a role of corrective maintenance guideline to a driver when a breakdown occurs. It also supports the driver to decide the situation of the train by offering a necessary information, in communicating with MPU(Main Processor Unit). For Localization of TECA, it is necessary to analyze communication protocol between TECA and MPU. As a part of analysis, communication protocol between OBCS(on-board computer system) and add-on devices has analyzed for the first step. Also with protocol analyzer appropriate method was offered for TECA and MPU protocol analysis. Finally, by appling proposed method to the drivers consol suitability was verified.

Research on Identity-based Batch Anonymous Authentication Scheme for VANET

  • To slove the security and efficiency problem of anonymous authentication in vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET), we adopt the bilinear pairing theory to propose an identity-based batch anonymous authentication scheme for VANET. The tamper-proof device in the on-board unit and the trusted authority jointly realize the anonymity of vehicle identity and the signature of messages, which further enhances the security of this scheme, as well as reduces the overhead of trusted authority. Batch authentication can improve the efficiency of anonymous authentication for VANET. Security and efficiency analyses demonstrate that this scheme not only satisfies such security properties as anonymity, non-forgeability and non-repudiation, but also has advantage in time and space complexity. Simulation results show that this scheme can achieve good performance in real-time VANET communication.

  • To keep up with the regulation of OBD II(on board diagnostics II), many detection methods for engine misfire have been developed. Among them, the method of using the crankshaft speed fluctuation is the most noticeable in the point of view of lower cost and easier installation than any others. On the basis of the results obtained from the previous engine-dynamometer test, the integrating torque index (ITI) has been introduced. In this research, the instrumental and the interfacing systems to engine control unit(ECU) are developed for the vehicle test. Therefore, the vehicle and chassis-dynamometer test can be carried out in addition to the rough road test. From this test, the previousproposed method proved that it can be applied to the real vehicle.

  • Electrolytic power capacitors today form essential components for virtually any power electronic system such as DC/DC converter or UPS. Frequently, electrolytic capacitors for DC link voltage smoothing are the key components which determine the life cycle of the whole unit and often are responsible for converter breakdown failures. In this paper, ethernet-based remote diagnosis system for DC voltage smoothing capacitor using DSP control board is developed. To estimate the status of the capacitor, the equivalent series resistor(ESR) of the component has to be determined. The ESR detection scheme is based on the determination of the capacitor ripple power losses calculated from DC link voltage/current measurement. Experimental results show the veridity and reliability of the proposed ethernet-based remote on-line capacitor diagnosis system.
