A Study on the Effect of the Name Node and Data Node on the Big Data Processing Performance in a Hadoop Cluster (Hadoop 클러스터에서 네임 노드와 데이터 노드가 빅 데이터처리 성능에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • Big data processing processes various types of data such as files, images, and video to solve problems and provide insightful useful information. Currently, various platforms are used for big data processing, but many organizations and enterprises are using Hadoop for big data processing due to the simplicity, productivity, scalability, and fault tolerance of Hadoop. In addition, Hadoop can build clusters on various hardware platforms and handle big data by dividing into a name node (master) and a data node (slave). In this paper, we use a fully distributed mode used by actual institutions and companies as an operation mode. We have constructed a Hadoop cluster using a low-power and low-cost single board for smooth experiment. The performance analysis of Name node is compared through the same data processing using single board and laptop as name nodes. Analysis of influence by number of data nodes increases the number of data nodes by two times from the number of existing clusters. The effect of the above experiment was analyzed.

Maritime radar display unit based on PC for safe ship navigation

  • A prototype radar display unit was implemented using inexpensive off-the-shelf components, including a nonlinear estimation algorithm for the target tracking in a clutter environment. Two custom designed boards; an analog signal processing board and a DSP board, can be plugged into an expansion slot of a personal computer (PC) to form a maritime radar display unit. Our system provided all the functionality specified in the International Maritime Organization (IMO) resolution A422(XI). The analog signal processing board was used for A/D conversion as well as rain and sea clutter suppression. The main functions of the DSP board were scan conversion and video overlay operations. A host PC was used to run the tracking algorithm of targets in clutter, using the discrete-time Bayes optimal (nonlinear, and non-Gaussian) estimation method, and the graphic user interface (GUI) software for Automatic Radar Plotting Aid (ARPA). The proposed tracking method recursively found the entire probability density function of the target position and velocity by converting into linear convolution operations.

  • An automated system using a embedded board is required to generate the notation input of the offline Go game. This paper integrates shape and color information of the objects on the Go game board for light-insensitive processing and reduces the computation step. This paper combined the detection of obstacles using connected components with the computation of canny edge detection and HSV-based detection. As a result, the processing time is reduced in the embedded environment so that reliable notation can be automatically stored even in real-time play environment.

  • In this paper, the new efficient drive control technology based on the conventional full-color electric display board image processing method is proposed. This technology can be applied to high-fidelity large size panel TV and LCD Display, and makes high-fidelity-display-drive control possible in those. The proposed drive control technology can strengthen the image processing function of the conventional technology. Also, the automatic or manual adjustment of contrast, bright, tint, color, gamma revision, etc. can help to achieve high-fidelity vision. This technology can be adopted with lower price.

  • There are researches are in progress on ensuring the safety of the high impact concrete in cases of fire which is a current rising social problem and this research institute also developed PFB technology, the explosion preventing technology. PFB technology is to apply POSCO E&C Fire Board, a fireproof board, with an adhesive agent on the construction site, and this technology passed 3-hour fireproof test and this technology was proven from a previous research that the temperature of main root is maintained under 200 ℃. Therefore, tests on basic contents to be examined before the actual construction in this research by with a wooden prototype of a full scale to apply PFB technology to actual construction sites and tests are being done on the workability of fireproof board, the adhesive power, the resistance against imprint of wooden nail, the heat conductivity and etc. As the results of those tests, PFB technology was proven to have an excellent workability at a construction site and to be easy for processing and also this technology was proven to have a great the resisting power against imprint of wooden nail, so this research has confirmed that PFB technology has no problem to be applied on a construction site.

  • This paper deals with a design and performance analysis of a parallel signal processing system based on TMS320C67x. With an emphasis on the board-level design of the processor unit four models are proposed with different memory configurations and internal bus schemes. Several approaches to parallel processing of 2D FFT are also presented to be used for performance analysis. The performance of four board models are estimated and compared in terms of the time spent for local memory access, inter-processor communication, and inter-board communication. The results of performance analysis show that, when performance and implementation complexity are taken into account, the model with both local and shared memories is the most desirable.

  • 정지궤도 위성을 제외한 대부분의 저궤도 위성 및 심우주 관측용 위성은 임무를 수행하면서 하루동안에도 제한된 시간동안만 지상국과의 통신이 가능하다. 따라서 위성 운영에 고수준의 자율적 제어기능이 요구된다. OBCP(On-Board Control Procedures)는 별도로 개발된 언어로 작성한 작은 용량의 스크립트 프로그램을 통해 위성을 제어하는 기능을 제공한다. 이러한 방법을 통해 지상관제 시에 위성의 임무수행동안 수행되어야 하는 다양하고 복잡한 운영 시퀀스를 용이하게 준비하고 업로드할 수 있다. OBCP는 위성비행소프트웨어와는 분리된 별도의 서브시스템으로 수행되기 때문에 새로운 위성운영 프로시져의 생성을 위해 위성비행소프트웨어의 수정, 재검증, 코드업로드 등의 절차가 요구되지 않으며 지상에서 개발 및 검증시험을 완벽하게 수행할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 기존의 저궤도 관측위성에서 사용되었던 위성의 자율적 제어 시퀀스 기능과 OBCP의 기능을 비교하여 설명하고, 실제 Herschel and Plank 위성에 활용된 예를 통해 OBCP의 개념 및 설계 방안에 대하여 소개한다.

  • In this paper, a low price ultrasound image processing system is developed using DSP and PC. Ultrasound for image is generated by the 32-channel transducer. Ultrasound image is captured by DSP instead of the private image grabber board. Display of image and image processing algorithms are performed by PC. The image processing algorithms based on GUI are realized by software. So users without knowledge of image processing can perform the image enhancement more easily.

  • In this paper, System performance parameters such as throughput, blocking probability and delay have been analyzed and expressed as a function of demanding traffic and service terminating probability, and we centers our discussion at particular downlink port of satellite switch which is capable of switching the individual spot beam and processing the information signals in the packet satellite communications with demand assigned multiple access technique. Delay versa throughput as a function of traffic parameters with several service terminating probability can be derived via mathematical formulation and simulation and the relative change of transmission delay was compared.

  • In order to construct a system for big data processing, one needs to configure the node by using network equipments to connect multiple computers or establish cloud environments through virtual hosts on a single computer. However, there are many restrictions on constructing the big data analysis system including complex system configuration and cost. These constraints are becoming a major obstacle to professional manpower training for big data areas which is emerging as one of the most important national competitiveness. As a result, for professional manpower training of big data areas, this paper proposes a Raspberry Pi Board based educational big data processing system which is capable of practical training at an affordable price.
