분전함에서 이상발열 감지를 위한 광온도센서의 동작특성 분석 (Operating Characteristic Analysis of Optic Temperature Sensor for Overheat Detection in Panel Board)

  • 본 논문에서는 전기설비의 전기적 접속부 또는 전기배선 등에서 발생하는 이상발열을 감지하는 방법에 대해 알아보고, 분전함에서의 발열상태를 실시간으로 모니터링하는 전력설비 진단시스템에 사용되고 있는 광온도센서에 대하여 동작특성을 실험, 분석하였다. 광온도센서의 동작특성 실험을 위한 열원으로는 Black Body와 Hot Plate를 사용하였으며 각각에서의 열원의 온도변화에 따른 광온도센서 출력전압값을 측정, 분석하였다. 그리고 분전함내 차단기 단자에서의 체결불량으로 인한 이상발열 감지 실험을 기존의 발열 감지방법인 열전대와 적외선 열화상장치를 이용하여 실시하였고, 광온도센서를 이용해 실시하여 결과를 비교 분석하였다. 실험결과, 광온도센서의 이상발열 감지능력이 유사함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 분석 결과는 향후 RFID형 광온도센서를 이용한 전력설비 진단시스템의 현장 적용에 있어 기본 자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

Changes in facial surface temperature of laying hens under different thermal conditions

  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify through infrared thermal imaging technology the facial surface temperature (FST) of laying hens in response to the variations in their thermal environment, and to identify the regional differences in FST to determine the most stable and reliable facial regions for monitoring of thermoregulatory status in chickens. Methods: Thirty Hy-Line Brown hens (25-week-old) were sequentially exposed to three different thermal conditions; optimal (OT, 22℃±2℃), low (LT, 10℃±4℃), and high temperature (HT, 30℃±2℃). The mean values of FST in five facial regions including around the eyes, earlobes, wattles, beak and nose, and comb were recorded through infrared thermography. The maximum FST (MFST) was also identified among the five face-selective regions, and its relationship with temperature-humidity index (THI) was established to identify the range of MFST in response to the variations in their thermal environment. Results: Hens exposed to OT condition at 15:00 displayed a higher temperature at wattles and around the eyes compared to other regions (p<0.001). However, under LT condition at 05:00 to 08:00, around the eyes surface temperature showed the highest value (p<0.01). In HT, wattles temperature tended to show the highest temperature over almost time intervals. Main distribution regions of MFST were wattles (63.3%) and around the eyes (16.7%) in OT, around the eyes (50%) in LT, and wattles (62.2%) and comb (18.3%) in HT. The regression equation between MFST and THI was estimated as MFST = 35.37+0.2383×THI (R2 = 0.44; p<0.001). Conclusion: The FST and the frequency of MFST in each facial region of laying hens responded sensitively to the variations in the thermal environment. The findings of this experiment provide useful information about the effect of the thermal conditions on the specific facial regions, thus offering an opportunity to stress and welfare assessment in poultry research and industry.

  • In this paper, we studied for the measurement system for on-line testing and evaluation of tilting train express(TTX). The measurement system is installed in each train for the performance measurement during the test run. It is composed of software part, hardware part and can measure various signals such as velocity, voltage, temperature. The software controls the hardware of the measurement system, performs the analysis and calculation of measurement data and acts as interface between users and the system hardware. The hardware is consisted of 7 DAMs(Data Acquisition Modules) and 6 monitoring modules.

  • This paper suggests the system which monitors and diagnoses the distribution transformers. Moreover, this paper has established the system for the multi diagnoses by all the informations. Through the proven oil sensor, the oil temperature, capacitance and $tan{\delta}$ could be measured throughly, and followed by these informations, detected problems of the distribution transformers, using wireless data communication, could directly reported to the main host. For this, the proposed system is divided into sensor part and controller part. To prove the usefulness of the system, the paper compared and analyzed the system with the existing one, and after studying the correlation of the both, the result proved its goodness.

  • This paper develops the deterioration detecting sensor in oil to monitor and diagnose oil-filled transformer more effectively. The on-line inspection of the oil-filled transformers used the temperature, the changes of the capacitance, the $tan{\delta}$ in oil. This sensor was designed based on the concentric cylindrical type so that it could be placed inside of the oil-filled transformer. And comparing to the existing system, it was proven to be appropriate. Establishment of the proposed sensor helps to build the confidence in monitoring of the oil-filled transformers.

  • The internal leaks of RCS pressure boundary valves may cause thermal fatigue crack because of the TASCS in RCS branch line. After experienced unisolable piping failures in several PWR plants, many studies have peformed to understand these phenomena and various methods were applied to ensure the structural integrity of piping. In this paper, the cause of unisolable piping failures and the alternatives to prevent recurrence of failure were reviewed. Also, the severity of piping failure including susceptibility of valve leaks was evaluated for the Westinghouse 2-loop plant. The length of turbulent penetration on RHR inlet piping was measured and, thermal fluid analysis and fatigue analysis was performed for this piping. As a means of ensuring the structural integrity, temperature monitoring and specialized UT and other alternatives were compared for the further application.

  • We developed a measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of performances of KHST. The measurement system is composed of software part and hardware part. Perfect interface between multi-users is possible. A new method to measure temperature was applied to the measurement system. By using the system, fault diagnosis and performance evaluation of electric equipment in Korean High Speed Train was conducted during test running.

Performance monitoring of timber structures in underground construction using wireless SmartPlank

  • Although timber structures have been extensively used in underground temporary supporting system, their actual performance is poorly understood, resulting in potentially conservative and over-engineered design. In this paper, a novel wireless sensor technology, SmartPlank, is introduced to monitor the field performance of timber structures during underground construction. It consists of a wooden beam equipped with a streamlined wireless sensor node, two thin foil strain gauges and two temperature sensors, which enables to measure the strain and temperature at two sides of the beam, and to transmit this information in real-time over an IPv6 (6LowPan) multi-hop wireless mesh network and Internet. Four SmartPlanks were deployed at the London Underground's Tottenham Court Road (TCR) station redevelopment site during the Stair 14 excavation, together with seven relay nodes and a gateway. The monitoring started from August 2013, and will last for one and a half years until the Central Line possession in 2015. This paper reports both the short-term and long-term performances of the monitored timber structures. The grouting effect on the short-term performance of timber structures is highlighted; the grout injection process creates a large downward pressure on the top surface of the SmartPlank. The short and long term earth pressures applied to the monitored structures are estimated from the measured strains, and the estimated values are compared to the design loads.

Investigation of pressure-volume-temperature relationship by ultrasonic technique and its application for the quality prediction of injection molded parts

  • In this study, an ultrasonic technique was employed to obtain pressure-volume-temperature (PVT) rela­tionship of polymer melt by measuring ultrasonic velocities under various temperatures and pressures. The proposed technique was applied to on-line monitoring of injection molding process as an attempt to predict quality of molded parts. From the comparison based on Tait equation, it was confirmed that the PVT behav­ior of a polymer is well described by the variation of ultrasonic velocities measured within the polymer medium. In addition, the changes in part weight and moduli were successfully predicted by combining the data collected from ultrasonic technique and artificial neural network algorithm. The results found from this study suggest that the proposed technique can be effectively utilized to monitor the evolution of solid­ification within the mold by measuring ultrasonic responses of various polymers during injection molding process. Such data are expected to provide a critical basis for the accurate prediction of final performance of molded parts.

  • A measurement device for gas flow rate using hot-wire module is developed for the utilization in low-accuracy industrial applications. The module has three wires of measuring and heating, and a bridge circuit is installed to detect electric current through the wire in the module. An amplification of the signal and conversion to digital output are conducted for the online measurement with a personal computer. In addition, temperature distribution in the module is numerically analyzed to examine the measured outcome from the module experiment. The flow rate of air and carbon dioxide gas is separately measured for the performance examination of the device. The experimental relation of measurement and flow agrees with the prediction from the numerical analysis. The outcome of the performance test indicates that the accuracy and reproducibility of the module is satisfactory for the purpose of industrial applications.
