Today's Digital Environment made Typography to enter into a new phase. The Type which is a principal component of Typography is no exception to this aspect. However since the existing two-dimensional space has figurative potential, Visual Communication designers are still striving to explore both X axis and Y axis. In this context, Z axis which signifies 'Depth' is often recognized as an unfamiliar mathematical concept unrelated to Design Sensibility. If Z axis is used, the figurative aspect can be acquired, which was hard to be realized in the flat space, because the additional space of depth allows the expansion of omni-directional expression of target. Most notable is the fact that Z axis provided by Digital Environment has actually long existed and is inseparable from Type. This study, therefore, focuses on the three-dimensional expression of Type in the Visual Communication Design area by taking into account the above characteristics.

In the present study, a more compact dual-band slot antenna is newly proposed for Wi-Fi application. The proposed antenna is composed of rectangular two stepped slot with open end which can generate standing wave resonance at dual frequency bands and L-type microstrip feed line. The measured impedance bandwidths are 50 MHz(2.412 ~ 2.470 GHz) at low frequency band and 452 MHz(5.451 ~ 5.903 GHz) at high frequency band respectiviely. Furthermore its size of 14 × 21 mm2 is reduced by 30% compared to the size of 20 × 21 mm2 of a conventional similar compact slot antenna. It has the omni-directional radiation pattern characteristics of a typical dipole antenna on the H-Plane, so it is suitable for commercial wireless network applications such as Wi-Fi.

In this paper, a novel design of a compact printed monopole antenna for wireless local area network (WLAN) applications is investigated. The radiator with a patch of different line width and step-shaped ground planes is used to reduce the antenna size. The size of the antenna is 16 × 17 × 1 ㎣ and is fabricated with a photolithography technique. The simulated and measured results agree well. The resonant frequency of the investigated antenna is about 5.2 GHz and can cover an impedance bandwidth of 1 GHz for the measurement result. In addition, we presented the measured radiation pattern, presented the gain and efficiency measured in the required WLAN 5 GHz frequency band (5.15-5.825 GHz), and confirmed that it can be used as a 5 GHz band WLAN antenna. The investigated antenna has a small size, light weight, low cost, omni-directional radiation pattern, high gain, and high efficiency.
In this paper, we proposed a slot-type antenna with microstrip feed embedded in a PCB for Zigbee communication (2.4 ~ 2.484 GHz). The proposed antenna is designed on a FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3, thickness of 1.6 mm, and size of 50×65 mm2. Through simulations, trends of design parameters are analyzed and optimized, and the proposed antenna composed with three slots satisfy the frequency band. The measured impedance bandwidths (|S11| ≤ -10 dB) of fabricated antenna are 900 MHz (2 ~ 2.9 GHz) in Zigbee frequency band. In addition, the radiation pattern showed omnidirectional characteristics for E and H-planes, and the gain of antenna in Zigbee frequency band was 1.782 dBi.
This paper presents a novel CPW-fed UWB monopole paper antenna made by paper and copper tape. Through the simulation, the optimized antenna design parameters were obtained, and an antenna having an omni-directional radiation pattern and a gain of 2.2 dBi or more in the UWB frequency band of 3.1-10.6 GHz was designed. The antenna was manufactured using general A4 paper and copper tape, and the measurement result satisfies the return loss of -10dB or less in the UWB frequency band and confirm that the return loss characteristic was maintained even when the antenna plane was bent by 3 mm in the longitudinal direction. The proposed antenna is a wearable device that can provide services in the UWB band, and can be manufactured inexpensively by printing it with a conductive print on paper. So it can be used as a wearable antenna for UWB communication in various application fields such as logistics and disposable terminals.

A modified folded monopole slot antenna for 3G WCDMA (1.91 ~ 2.17 GHz), 4G LTE (2.17 ~ 2.67 GHz), 3.5 GHz 5G (3.42 ~ 3.7 GHz) and Wi-Fi dual band (2.4 ~ 2.484 GHz / 5.15 ~ 5.825 GHz) was proposed for the first time. The proposed antenna is designed and fabricated on a FR-4 substrate with dielectric constant 4.3, thickness of 1.6 mm, and size of 35 × 60 mm2. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 2910 MHz(1.84 ~ 4.75 GHz) and 930 MHz(5.11 ~ 6.04 GHz), antenna gain in each frequency band is from 1.811 to 3.450 dBi. In particular, it was possible to obtain a commercially suitable omni-directional radiation pattern in all frequency bands of interest.
Acoustic radiation from a submerged elastic shell with an internal fluid surrounded by the bubble layer is studied with the modal theory. An omni-directional point source located on the center of the internal fluid is used as acoustic noise source. The unknown coefficients of modal solutions are solved using the interface conditions between media. To preserve the stability of the modal solution over wide frequency ranges, the scaled technique of modal solution is used. The bubble layer is modeled with four kinds of bubble distribution; uni-modal distribution, uniform distribution, normal distribution, and power-law distribution, based on the effective medium theory of Commander and Prosperetti. For each bubble distribution, the insertion losses are mainly calculated for the frequency. In addition, the numerical simulations are performed depending in the bubble void fraction, the material property of elastic shell, and the gap between the bubble layer and the elastic shell.
Surion is required to install radios (U/VHF-AM, VHF-FM) capable of omni-directional communication. Therefore, this paper demonstrates the antenna performance test for the installation of the Surion communication antenna and the selection of optimal location. A simulation pattern analysis was performed employing the antenna, and a coupling test was performed by creating a new evaluation criterion. In addition, the results of the pattern flight test conducted at the previously suggested 1:20 turn and separation distance ratio were observed to be normal. However, the occurrence of voice cutoff was noted in the long-distance flight test. Therefore, in this paper, 1:300 (15 NM) is proposed as a new optimal ratio for predicting the long-distance flight test results in advance. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed evaluation criteria was verified through long-distance flight tests. Consequently, it is expected to reduce the development schedule and cost by reducing the trial and error of the performance test for the Surion model. Also, the results of this study are expected to be used as standards for the installation of communication antenna and quality tests for other helicopters.

In this paper, the quad-band antenna for mobile handsets is proposed and developed. The operating frequency bands include GSM(880 MHz${\~}$960 MHz), GPS(1,575 MHz$\pm$10 MHz), DCS(1,710 MHz${\~}$l,880MHz), and PCS(1,850 MHz${\~}$l,990 MHz). The proposed antenna consists of a feed line, a shorting post, and a radiating element of the feed loop. The multi-band operation is achieved by using the fundamental and higher resonant modes of the radiating element. Based on analysis of the current distribution on the radiator, the resonant frequency of each mode can be adjusted by adding the different sizes of slots on the radiator. The radiator of the feed loop is designed to be symmetrical so that the energy is symmetrically distributed on the radiator, which results in omni-directional radiation pattern. The ground plane under the radiator is removed in order to improve the bandwidth. The measured impedance bandwidths are $10.1\%$ in GSM band(VSWR<2.5), $26.8\%$ in GPS band, and DCS/US-PCS bands(VSWR<2.5), respectively. The maximum gains on the H-plane of the fabricated antenna are measured about -0.37 dBi${\~}$2.55 dBi for all operating frequency bands.
