  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) design has been mandatory in Korea since 2016, and it has been gradually expanding in the industry, with a slow attempt to apply it in remodeling constructions. This is because Korea is facing a situation where many buildings are over 30 years old and require remodeling or reconstruction. The remodeling industry is also a growing market, as it saves construction time and cost compared to reconstruction. BIM is an ideal technology element for a competitive remodeling construction, as remodeling constructions face a complicated construction process from the start, including demolition, maintenance, and reinforcement to save the change process. However, there are still limitations in applying BIM to remodeling constructions, due to considerations of the existing building and the complicated requests of the inhabitants. BIM still has technical and environmental limitations for general use. In this study, I analyzed BIM application cases from existing studies and suggest what improvement points should be strengthened.

고지도를 활용한 홍수터 복원 구역 선정 및 홍수완충공간의 홍수 저류효과 분석 (Determination of Floodplain Restoration Area Based on Old Maps and Analysis on Flood Storage Effects of Flood Mitigation Sections)

  • 기후변화로 인한 극한홍수의 피해를 저감하면서 동시에 자연친화적 수변구역의 홍수완충공간을 조성하기 위해 제방이 건설되기 이전의 홍수범람 범위와 하천구역을 참조하여 홍수터 복원을 수행할 필요가 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 금강 대상구간에 대해 고지도를 활용하여 홍수터 복원가능 공간의 입지 선정 방법을 제안하고 홍수터를 홍수완충공간으로 활용할 경우 홍수위 저감 효과를 부정류 수치모의를 통해 분석하였다. 고지도를 활용하여 하천구역 변화를 분석한 결과, 1919년에 비해 2020년 하천구역 면적이 단계적으로 총 27.8% 감소 (1,059,380 m2)한 것으로 추정되었으며, 과거 홍수범람 구역이었던 제내지를 offline 저류지로 복원할 경우 2,200,868 m3의 유효 저류용량을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. HEC-RAS 부정류 모의를 통해 분석한 홍수위와 홍수량 조절 효과는 대상구간의 하류 단면에서 16 cm와 219.01 m3/s인 것으로 나타났다. 본 논문의 수치모의에는 홍수완충공간이 offline 저류지 형식으로 적용되었으며, 제방 후퇴/이설을 통한 홍수터의 확대가 적용될 경우 홍수위 저감 효과는 다르게 나타날 수 있다.

아파트단지 내부의 리모델링 수법에 관한 연구 (A Study of the Remodeling Techniques for Old Apartment Blocks)

  • The rebuilding method for old apartment housing blocks has merits of providing new buildings and larger private living spaces. However, it causes many serious urban problems, such as shortage of infrastructure capacity, traffic congestion, reduction of building life, and deterioration of open space quality. Nowadays, remodeling is accepted as a way of overcoming such negative effects of the rebuilding method. This study focuses on the various techniques of remodeling. The results of this research are as follows; First, old apartment blocks provide poor level of service in general, so they have problems of bad accessibility, deterioration of facilities, and degraded landscape. In many cases, there is a hindrance from walking freely and security problem due to illegal privatization of public spaces. Second, various remodeling techniques are required to meet residents' different needs. The residents of apartment housing value private space above public space, and show low level of willingness to pay cost for remodeling. Third, based on these findings, some remodeling techniques are suggested - integration of a space to another, expansion of spaces, connection of spaces, reuses of roofs and walls, relocation and renovation of paths between buildings, and so on.

한국불교 전통사찰의 건축물공부(建築物公簿)에 관한 연구 -범어사 건축물대장을 중심으로- (A Study on the Official Building Register of Korean Traditional Temple - Focused on the Official Building Register of Beomeo-sa -)

  • This thesis is to analyze the origin and transformation of the official building registers of Korean traditional temples, and also to suggest the amendment of their wrong archives. Especially, this study is to examine these subjects focused on Beomeo-sa which has maintained fine registers. The results are as follow; 1. In Chosun Dynasty, the Ip-an had been used, and in the period of Daehan-Empire, the Ga-gei had been used as each official registers for the common buildings. The other hand, the lists of properties and the legal registers had been used as official registers for the temple buildings between 1911 and 1962. 2. The current official building registers have been firstly recorded under in 1962. At that time, the current official registers have been also recorded for the Buddhist temple buildings. 3. Most of the official building registers of Buddhist temples are incomplete. Especially, these have usually the indistinct building names and wrong building areas. These were mainly caused by direct copying of the old registers recorded in 1956, the period of Buddhist confusion. Furthermore, the registers have been poorly operated by monks and offices. 4. Therefore, the registers has to be corrected as follow; The omitted buildings have to be added and the duplicated buildings have to be removed in the summary heading registers. The indistinct building names recorded in 1956 have to be correct into actual proper building names. The wrong building areas recorded in 1956 have to be correct into actual measurement building areas.

지하주차장 공사시 주동진입방법 선정 영향요인 도출 (Deduction of affecting factors for selecting the way of going into the main building of an apartment complex when constructing an underground parking lot.)

  • 20년 이상 경과된 노후 공동주택의 세대수는 향후 10년 이내에 100만 세대 이상으로 급격히 증가될 전망이다. 이에 대한 대책으로 리모델링이 활성화되고 있다. 주차장확대는 리모델링에 대한 요구사항 중 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다. 주차장확대 공사시 주동진입방법은 흙막이공법 선정, 엘리베이터 설치, 주차대수 등에 영향을 미친다. 본 연구에서는 지하주차장 공사시 주동진입방법 선정 영향요인을 도출하였다. 연구방법은 주차장확대 방식과 주동진입방법에 대해 조사한 후 전문가들과의 심층면담을 통해 주동진입방법별 특징을 검토하였다. 그 후 각각의 방식별 특징을 분석하여 주동진입방법 선정 영향요인을 도출하였다. 영향요인은 대분류에 시공성, 편의성, 경제성이 있고 소분류에 공동주택 지하층 유무, 공동주택 철거유무, 공동주택 안전, 주차공간 확보, 거주중 공사가능성, 주차장진입 편의성, 공사비, 공사기간이 있다. 본 연구는 노후공동주택의 지하주차장 공사시 주동진입방법 선택을 위한 참고자료로 활용될 것이다.

Seismic Retrofit of High-Rise Building with Deformation-Dependent Oil Dampers against Long-Period Ground Motions

  • Along the subduction-zone of the western Japanese islands, large earthquakes are expected occur around the middle of this century, and long-period ground motions will reach major urban areas, shaking high-rise buildings violently. Since some old high-rise buildings were designed without considering long-period ground motions, reinforcing such buildings is an important issue. An effective method to reinforce existing high-rise buildings is installing additional dampers. However, a problem with ordinary dampers is that they require reinforcement of surrounding columns and girders to support large reaction forces generated during earthquake ground motion. To solve this problem, a deformation-dependent oil damper was developed. The most attractive feature of this damper is to reduce the damping force at the moment when the frame deformation comes close to its maximum value. Due to this feature, the reinforcement of columns, girders, and foundations are no longer required. The authors applied seismic retrofitting with a deformation-dependent oil damper to an existing 54-story office building (Shinjuku Center Building) located in Shinjuku ward, Tokyo, in 2009 to suppress vibration under the long period earthquake ground motions. The seismic responses were observed in the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake, and it is clarified that the damping ratio was higher and the response lower by 20% as compared to the building without dampers.

조선대학교 병원 전문진료센타 설계 (Architectural and Interior Design of Chosun University Hospital Medical Center)

  • This project is to establish an annex clinic center under 5 floors with gross floor area of 3,000 Pyeong behind existing Chosun university Hospital main building with 600 beds. The goal of the design is connecting the new clinic center with the existing main building and completing a combined hospital that has synergy effects. Given the old condition of the hospital and characteristics of the ground, I tried to embody the image of Medical Pulse, which is very alive with strong pulse, and suggest vision of 21st century hospital. First, one main entrance as a combined hospital. For optimum access and functions, I used the entrance of existing building as the only main entrance of new combined hospital, rearrange the road in front of the main building and improve traffic system, and upgrade the image and function of combined main entrance by planning new atrium united robby that makes link to the main building easier. Second, section planning considering the optimum functions and convenience. I established 4 floors linking functionally with the existing building, minimized vertical traffic line, and enhanced convenience through barrier free environment, which is a horizontal traffic line without barriers, crucial to hospital. Third, combined zoning generating synergy effects. I linked sterilizing room with logistics center by operating room and service bridge, and arranged central treatment department horizontally, Also, by horizontally arranging cancer center and department of nuclear medicine close with PET and cyclotron center, I established identity of specialized departments.

  • According to the national building status, there are a total of 2.89 million buildings that are over 30 years old after completion, and the number is increasing by more than 70,000 to 80,000 buildings every year. As a result, the demand for demolition works is also increasing, and more than 3 to 4 collapse accidents occur steadily every year during demolition work. Major causes of accidents include non-compliance with plans, negligence of on-site supervisors, and failure to secure structural safety. Due to the strengthening of the Severe Disaster Punishment Act, there is growing interest in the demand for secure management of collapse detection during demolition works. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the applicability of real-time safety monitoring systems using a total station capable of 3D automatic displacement measurement in building demolition work for securing structural safety by the load changes during the demolition process.

A Study on Sustainable Greenspace based on Urban Remodeling Design of an Old Apartment Building

  • It is undeniable that urban greenspace is the soul of a city. Conventional urban greenspace such as parks, community gardens, playgrounds etc. located within a city reduce the negative effects of pollution, play a major role in the survival of the urban ecosystem, and promote healthy lifestyles. Today, 55% of the world's population lives in urban areas, which is expected to increase to 68% by 2050. Projections show that urbanization and the gradual migration to urban areas combined with the fast growth of the world's population, could add another 2.5 billion people to urban areas by 2050 and almost 90% of this increase will take place in Asia(UN, 2018). As a result, many plots in the cities are and will continue to be occupied with buildings to provide residential support to the increased population. This will dangerously decrease urban greenspaces. Moreover, worldwide, food crisis, energy crisis, and social crisis is posing a great threat to the existence of mankind. Additionally, the COVID - 19 has introduced a new lifestyle where from work culture to community configuration has drastically transformed. In this scenario, residential buildings will have to serve more than just providing privacy and shelter. As urban greenspaces are being occupied by concrete residential buildings, these buildings will have to compensate for the percentage of urban green they are destroying and the issues they are imposing in the process. The goal of this thesis is to design, architecturally define and, categorize comprehensive 'sustainable Greenspace'(S.G.S) for the multi-family housing scenario. These will be different than the conventional green (veranda, rooftop green) we commonly see in residential buildings. An old, dilapidated apartment building will be the target of remodeling to fulfill the purpose of this thesis.

고회화의 생활 복원과 공간.형태 심층관찰을 통한 죽서루 해석 (Interpretation of the Jukseoru Pavilion by Restoring Life from Old Pictures and Deep-Observing the Form and Space)

  • Jukseoru as an official pavilion of the government, one of the eight sceneries in Gwndong Area, is located on the cliff over Osipcheon River. This paper interprets form and space of the pavilion with restored old life by analyzing pictures of official party in 18th century in Chosun Dynasty. Every part of the space is occupied by persons by the class and duty: the pricipal guest, nobles, subordinates, gisaengs, court musicians, and guards from the high to the low and from the inside to the outside. Applying the analysis to the Jukseoru pavilion, the noblest lord takes sit on the platform in front of folded screen at main bay under checked ceiling, enclosed by low timber beam. The next northern end bay is a place for subordinates' and servants' waiting for preparation for rice wine. Southern end entrance bay is not a result of later addition but deliberately and originally made for lower place outside the railing of wooden floor: for a waiting woman gisaeng, and subordinates. Outside under the eaves on the platform with bedrock, artificial stone and soil is a place for court musicians, subordinates, and guards. The yard in front of the building is a place for preparing meals by cookers. Every detailed ornamental form is different each other by the place for the occupied class. Existing theory tells that the building, 7 bays gable-and-hipped roof, is a result of structural extention of 2 bays at the 5 bays gabled-roof. However, through the interpretation of old pictures and application to the pavilion, the present Juseoru is not a result of later structural addition, but deliberately designed creation suited to life in hierarchical traditional society.
