In this study, oil as a source of biodiesel from Nannochloropsis oceanica was extracted using organic solvent. The oil extraction yield and efficiency from dry and wet microalgae were investigated. The initial fatty acids content of the N. oceanica was 317.8 mg/g cell showing a high oil content over 30%. The yield from dry microalgae was higher than that from wet microalgae due to the inhibition of water. The yield by chloroform-methanol was the highest and the yield by hexane was the lowest. However, the total fatty acids contents with the chloroform-methanol were 678.7 and 778.2 mg/g oil under dry and wet conditions, respectively. The high oil extraction yield by chloroform-methanol reflected the fact that the extracted oil contained a high level of impurity. The hexane-methanol extraction from dry N. oceanica showed high oil extraction efficiency, 82.6%. The chloroform-methanol extraction under wet condition also showed high efficiency, 88.0%. While the hexane-methanol extraction from dry microalgae is desirable under low drying cost, the chloroform-methanol extraction from wet microalgae is desirable under high drying cost.

This study was performed on the effects of extraction temperature, pressure, time on apparent solubility and extraction yield of perilla oil and tocopherol, and color and fatty acid composition of the residue in supercritical carbon dioxide $(SC-CO_2)$ extraction. Apparent solubility of perilla oil and tocopherol increased with the increase of $CO_2$ density and was found to strongly depend on extraction pressure rather than extraction temperature. The extract yield of tocopherol in $SC-CO_2$ extraction increased with an increase of temperature and decreased with an increase of pressure and extraction time. The perilla oil apparent solubility of dried perilla powder for $60\sim180$ min at $40^{\circ}C/276$ bar increased with an extraction time, on the other hands, tocopherol apparent solubility decreased. As the increase of $CO_2$ density, less redness and yellowness increased. Fatty acid composition of perilla oil showed that perilla oil extracted by $SC-CO_2$ had better unsaturated fatty acid and decreased in saturated fatty acid. $SC-CO_2$ extraction offers a safe natural method for gaining perilla oil from dried perilla seeds powder.

In order to examine the effect of oil extraction methods on the charateristics of sesame oil, the fractionation pattern and fatty acid compositions of the each fraction of the oil were compared in the oil extracted by the three different extraction methods, that is, pressure extraction of roasted seed (RTP), acetone extraction of roasted seed (RTE) and acetone extraction of raw seed (RWE). The amount of triglyceride in RWE oil was slightly higher as 77.2% of the total lipid than that in RTP and RTE oil of 73.4%. The content of oleic and linoleic acid in glycolipld and fatty acid fractions, linoleic acid in triglyceride, and palmitic and stearic acid in phospholipid fractions from RTP and RTE oil were higher than those from RWE oil, but the oleic acid in triglyceride. Palmitic and stearic acid in free fatty acid, and oleic and linoleic acid in phospholipid from RTP and RTE oil were lower than those from RWE oil. The ratio of $C_{18}$ to $C_{16}$ fatty acids and unsaturated to saturated fatty acids in glycolipid and phospholipid fractions from RTP and RTE oil were higher than those from RWE oil, but the ratios in triglyceride and free fatty acid fractions from RTP and RTE oil were lower than those from RWE oil.
This study investigated the chemical composition of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai essential oils collected using different extraction methods. The essential oils obtained by simultaneous steam distillation extraction (SDE) and hydrodistillation extraction (HDE) methods from the aerial parts of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Ninety-nine volatile flavor compounds were identified in the essential oil produced from Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai using the SDE method. These compounds were classified into eight categories in terms of chemical functionality: 26 hydrocarbons, 8 aldehydes, 36 alcohols, 7 ketones, 12 esters, 5 oxides and epixides, 4 acids, and a miscellaneous one. Spathulenol (15.66%) was the most abundant compound. Ninety-eight compounds including of 35 hydrocarbons, 6 aldehydes, 29 alcohols, 6 ketones, 10 esters, 4 oxides and epixides, 7 acids, and a miscellaneous one were identified in the essential oil from the plant using the HDE method. Hexadecanoic acid (24.74%) was the most abundant compound. The chemical composition of Solidago virga-aurea var. asiatica Nakai essential oils extracted by SDE and HDE methods are characterized by high content of sesquiterpene alcohols and acids, respectively. The extraction methods may be influenced in the chemical composition of natural plant essential oils.

This experiment extracted the natural green-tea using ethanol and obtained the refined oil component after filterated green-tea extract. This study tested the antimicrobial effect as characteristics experiment, and analyzed refined oil component with pH-meter and GC/MS. In the result of this experiment, it obtained the next conclusions. In the first result of extraction experiment, it could know that extraction ratio of refined oil component appeared about 9.0%. In the second result of characteristics experiment, it could certificate that in case of increasing the refined oil component in concentration of 100ppm and above, and according to passage of cultivation time, the number of S-aureus and E-coli in microbe decreased less and less. But in case of blank test not adding the refined oil component, the number of microbe increased more and more. In these phenomena, it could certificate that refined oil component of green-tea appeared antimicrobial effect against microbe. In the third result of instrumental analysis, refined oil component of green-tea appeared about 7.6 in 1% distilled water solution with pH-meter, and the aromatic components of benzene, bonyl acetate, campene, ${\alpha},{\beta},{\gamma}$-pinnene etcs from refined oil component of green-tea was detected with GC/MS.

Box-Behnken Design (BBD) under response surface methodology (RSM) was implemented to optimization the operating parameters and assess the removal and recovery efficiencies of crude oil from contaminated soil using subcritical water extraction. The effects of temperature, extraction time and water flow rate were explored, and the results indicate that temperature has a great impact on crude oil removal and recovery. The correlation coefficients for oil removal ($R^2=0.74$) and recovery ($R^2=0.98$) suggest that the proposed quadratic model is useful. When setting the target removal and recovery (>99%), BBD-RSM determined the optimum condition to be a temperature of $250^{\circ}C$, extraction time of 120 min, and water flow rate of 1 mL/min. An experiment was carried out to confirm the results, with removal and recovery efficiencies of 99.69% and 87.33%, respectively. This result indicates that BBD is a suitable method to optimize the process variables for crude oil removal and recovery from contaminated soil.
The essential oil of Schizandrae Fructus was extracted by simultanous distillation-extraction and steam distillation and analyzed by GC and GC-MS. The oil content of Schizandrae Frutus was 0.64% when extracted by steam distillation and 0.88% in case of simultanous distillation extraction and sensory analysis of the oil indicated woody, camphorous, spicy and sour characteristic notes. The experimental results confirmed the presence 47 volatile components, the major components were ${\gamma}-terpinene$, p-cymene, ${\alpha}-ylangne$ and ${\beta}-elemene$. The oil was fractioned into ten fractions and 4 fraction of them have a good aroma character. The application of the oil showed the utilization possibility as flavoring materials for Korea tea.
For the effecient extraction methods of essential oil, pretreatment of leaves, ratios of water and leaves, extraction time, and collection season from the Chamaecyparis obtusa and Chamaecyparis pisifera leaves were studied. The chemical composition of essential oil was analyzed by GC-MS. The yield of essential oil from ground leaves was higher than that of chopped leaves. The yield of essential oil was not affected much by mixing ratios of water and leaves. The yield of essential oil reached maximum after 5 hours. The content of essential oil of C. obtusa leaves collected during winter was 4.5%, whereas the content of essential oil of C. pisifera collected during fall was 5.3%. The composition of essential oils extracted form C. obrusa and C. pisifera was different. The major constituents in the essential oil of C. obtusa were monoterpene as limonene, terpinene-4-ol, ${\gamma}$-selinene, and a-cedrene, and those of C. pisifera was monoterpens as ${\alpha}$-pinene, myrcene, limonene, bornyl acetate, ${\beta}$- caryophyllene, longifolene, and ${\beta}$-cedrene.

Although various methods have been investigated for treatment of crude oil contaminated soil, more researches are still required to preserve soil environment. This study investigated the potential utility of subcritical water in remediation of crude oil contaminated soil under various experimental conditions including temperature ($150-300^{\circ}C$), flow rate (1.0-2.0 mL/min) and extraction time (60-120 min). The removal rate of crude oil gradually increased with increasing temperature and time. After treatment at $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$ for 60 min, the remaining concentration of crude oil met the Kuwait standard clean-up level (10,000 mg/kg) and the Korean standard level (2,000 mg/kg), respectively. The removal efficiency of crude oil increased from 77.8% to 88.4% with increasing extraction time from 60 to 120 min at $250^{\circ}C$. A decreasing rate of oil removal was observed as flow rate increased, possibly due to channeling flow occurred within the soil body at higher flow rate condition. Overall, the results revealed that subcritical water extraction process could be feasible for remediation of crude oil contaminated soil, and the relative effect of parameters on the oil removal was in the order of temperature > time > flow rate.
This work highlights extraction and removal of Lignosulfonate using sunflower oil-Tri-n-octylamine (TOA) system in bulk liquid membrane transport. Maximum extraction and recovery percentages of 92.4% and 75.2% were achieved. Optimum manifold operating conditions were: 4 vol.% TOA, $2{\pm}0.1$ feed phase pH, 300 rpm stirring speed, at $40^{\circ}C$ with 0.2 (M) $Na_2SO_4$ solution. 1:2 (organic/aqueous) and 1:1 (aqueous/aqueous) phase ratios produced best results. Extraction (36.85 kJ/mol) was found to be intermediate controlled and stripping (54.79 kJ/mol) was chemical reaction controlled. Kinetic estimation of data with higher rate constants for stripping vis-${\grave{a}}$-vis extraction showed latter to be rate determining.
