This research seeks to examine the relationship between multicultural education experiences and the multicultural acceptability of military officers. The sample included 552 Republic of Korea Army officers and non-commissioned officers(NCOs) who were located in Gangwon-Do and Gyeonggi-Do. For the statistical analysis, SPSS 18.0 was used to perform descriptive statistical analysis, frequency analysis, differential verification, and multiple regression analysis. The major analysis results are as follows: First, The multicultural acceptability of the military officers and NCOs, including sub-factors, was above the mean level; in terms of the ranking per sub-factor, the scores were in the order of diversity, relationship, and universality. The experience frequency of the targets and the evaluation was lowest in the educational experience within the military, and the evaluations were in the order of public media, school, and military. Second, The differential verification, depending on the characteristics of the sociology of the population and the existence of the multicultural educational experience, showed that the duration of education(personal factor), marital status(family factor), existence of a foreign relative(family factor), and existence of experience of managing multicultural personnel as soldiers under command(military-related factor) showed a significant difference in multicultural acceptability. Additionally, the existence of multicultural education through schools and public media lead to a significant difference in multicultural acceptability, but the existence of education within the military did not lead to a significant difference. Third, The analysis of the influencing relationship through multiple regression analysis showed that the higher the evaluation of multicultural education through the military, school, and public media, the higher the multicultural acceptability. Therefore, this research proposes multicultural educational plans that may improve the multicultural acceptability of military officers and NCOs as a way to establish a multicultural composition in the army.
In this study, the shapes of po worn by military officers who served During the period of Japanese Invasion of Korea(1592-1598) were investigated. Findings of the study can be summarized as follows. Various types of po that military officers usually wore during the period of Japanese Invasion of Korea includes jikryeong, dapho, dopo, cheolik, aekjureum, jangeui, jungchimak and bangryeongpo. Out of these types, cheolik and jungchimak were most often used by the officers. Po that were usually worn by military officers during the period of Japanese Invasion of Korea as above mentioned is characterized as no difference in length between the front and back of the costume, kalgit and a pair of coat strings which are directly attached to po. The sleeves of the costume are bean chaff-shaped in some cases and just narrowly shaped in other cases. Similarly, the outer seop of po was either double-layered or single-layered. For jikryeong and dapho, mu is usually type of outside wrinkle. For dopo, its rear kit has the inner hem whose right and left edges are usually distant, respectively by 6~16cm, from the back center of the costume. Cheolik and aekjureum usually have either fine or broad pleats. For jangeui and jungchimak, mu is usually trapezoid in shape. Among various types of po which were usually worn by military officers during the period of Japanese Invasion of Korea, most representative are jikryeong from the tombs of Bae Cheon jo, dapho from Shin Yeo Gwan, dopo from general Bak and Bae Cheon Jo, cheolik from Nam Yoo and Cho Gyeong, aekjureum from Shin Yeo Gwan, jangeui from Kim Ham, jungchimak from Bae Cheon jo and bangryeongpo from Cho Gyeong.
Nowadays contents of crimes are complicated and diversified because of differentiation and specialization of society. For this reason, special judicial police officer system that each special field officers investigate crimes related to their special fields is introduced to produce high quality private law service. Nevertheless, special judicial police officers who deal with fire crimes show many problems because they have less experiences and ability about investigation than general judicial police officers. Then, purpose of this study is deduction problems by analyzing cases of fire crimes and suggesting improvements which are ways to improve special judcial police officers's who investigate fire crimes efficiencies and professionalisms. Problems about investigation of fire crimes are absence of professional investigation agency, a shortage of professional workforce, absence of professional investigation officers education system. Improvements are creation professional investigation agency, securing experts, developing professional investigation officers education system, construction professional techniques manage system, introduction fire crime cases manage system.
The purpose of this study was to examine the influencing factors of job engagement among Korean police officers. This was the secondary analysis of data from the 5th Korean Working Conditions Survey (KWCS). The study subjects included 185 Korean police officers. Collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression with IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0 program. Job insecurity (${\beta}=-.34$, p<.001), job reward (${\beta}=.39$, p<.001), subjective health status (${\beta}=.22$, p<.001), and organizational justice (${\beta}=.20$, p=.002) were significant influencing factors on job engagement, explaining 59.3% of the variance (F=34.26, p<.001). Effective and systematic strategies to improve Korean police officers' job engagement should focus on job reward, job insecurity, subjective health status, and organizational justice. The results of this study can be utilized as base data to improve Korean police officers' job engagement.
The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of fire officers' experience of traumatic events and subsequent forest healing on their occupational burnout. The results are as follows: First, the experience of traumatic events, social and psychological healing, and relieving stress by strolling had a significant effect on burnout. The more fire officers are exposed to traumatic events, the more they lose self-control in social and psychological aspects, and the lower the level of stress relieved through strolling, the higher the level of burnout. Thi sresult suggests that the more fire office rsare called out for fire fighting, the more they see their colleagues with severein juries, and the higher the level of mental and physical an xiety, the more they areex hausted. Moreover, for es thealing help store duce the irmental and physi calfatig uecaused by traumatic events, thu spreven ting them from suffering from burn out. Second, the experience of traumatic events, social and psychological healing, and relieving stress by strolling had a significant impact on occupational stress. The more fire officers are exposed to traumatic events, the more they lose self-control in social and psychological aspects, and the lower the level of stress relieved through strolling, the higher the level of occupational stress. This result indicates that to relieve job stress caused by fire fighting, increased forest healing activities, including various programs such as psychotherapy, developing interpersonal relationships and self-control, and creating a positive mind-set, can reducejobstress and help fire officers recover from it. Lastly, job stress had a mediation effect on the effects of the experience of traumatic events and forest healing on burnout. This implies that burnout can be prevented when fire officers gain high emotional stability through social and psychological healing and stress-relief strolling over a traumatic experience, and stronger support from the organization and family can keep them from being emotionally drained, thus contributing to the prevention of burnout.
Background: As of now, the impact of low back pain (LBP) and its chronic state, chronic low back pain (CLBP), on mental health-related quality of life (HRQOL) has never been investigated among police officers. The present investigation aims at studying this relationship using a biopsychosocial model. Methods: Between May and October 2014, a Web-based cross-sectional study was conducted among Quebec police officers (Quebec, Canada). Mental HRQOL was measured using the role emotional (RE) and the mental health (MH) domains of the SF-12v2 Health Survey. The impact of CLBP on mental HRQOL (as opposed to acute/subacute LBP or no LBP) was studied with a multivariate linear regression model. Results: Of the 3,589 police officers who participated in the study, 1,013 (28.4%) reported CLBP. The mean age of respondents was $38.5{\pm}8.7years$, and 32.0% were females. The RE (44.1/100) and MH (49.0/100) mean scores of the CLBP group were comparable with the scores found in populations suffering from cancer or heart diseases. Compared to officers without LBP, the presence of CLBP was significantly associated with lower RE (${\beta}$: -0.068; p = 0.003) and MH (${\beta}$: -0.062; p = 0.002) scores. These relationships were not found in the acute/subacute LBP group. Conclusion: Our results underscore how frequent CLBP is among police officers and how burdensome it is. Considering the importance of good physical and mental health for this occupational population, police organizations should be aware of this issue and contribute to the efforts toward CLBP prevention and management in the workplace.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of job stress and health promotion behaviors with the quality of life in female riot police officers. Methods: A cross-sectional design was adopted, and a convenience sample of 182 female riot police officers from 5 Metropolitan Police Agencies in South Korea. All participants completed a self-administered survey questionnaire that assessed job stress, health promotion behavior, and quality of life in May 2018. The collected data were analyzed using t-test, analysis of variance, and correlation and multiple linear regression analyses, all of which were executed using SPSS/WIN 23.0 and STATA 13.0. Results: The level of job stress among participants was moderate, and the mean was 45.25 out of a maximum possible score of 100. The mean scores that emerged for health promotion behaviors and the quality of life were 2.62 (maximum=4) and 56.59 (maximum=100), respectively. Job stress (r=-.380, p<.001) and health promotion behaviors (r=.559, p<.001) were correlated with the quality of life. The statistically significant predictors of the quality of life were job stress (${\beta}=-.212$, p=.001) and health promotion behaviors (${\beta}=.417$, p<.001). Conclusion: The variables that were associated with the quality of life of female riot police officers were job stress and health promotion behaviors. Therefore, interventions that can enhance job stress management and health promotion behaviors are needed to improve the quality of life of female riot police officers.
Although the number of ocean-going merchant ships is increasing, the number of Korean marine officers is decreasing. This manpower shortage problem is becoming more serious. This study objectively measured factors determining the demand and supply of ocean-going merchant ship officers and forecasted the exact manpower demand and supply. Demand was predicted by applying the number of ship officers required for each ship size to the number of ships forecasted. The supply was predicted by segmenting by position and age using the Markov model, reflecting increase/decrease factors such as promotion, turnover, retirement, and new entry by year. The demand for ocean-going merchant ship officers will increase from 11,638 in 2023 to 13,879 in 2030 while the supply will decrease from7,006 in 2023 to 6,426 in 2030, with the shortage expected to exceed 10,000 in 2040. This study can be used as a reference to solve the problem of manpower shortage for ocean-going merchant ship officers by improving the accuracy of predictions through objective data, scientific analysis methods, and logical reasoning.

Background: Police officers are an occupational group with a high risk of developing musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and mental diseases because of the nature of their work. This study aimed to gain an understanding of job-related health risks by comparing overall health awareness, presence of physical and mental disabilities and their causes, medical use patterns, and quality of life of the general public through a survey. Methods: In this comparative study, police officer data were collected through a survey conducted from October 1, 2022, to November 15, 2022, and general public data from the 8th National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey of Korea were used for comparison. Results: Police officers' health perception of physical or mental disabilities was significantly more negative than that of the general public because of their work characteristics, patterns, and functions. In addition, police officers with disabilities had severe work and daily living limitations, and their awareness of their overall quality of life was low enough to warrant alarm. Despite their high rates of seeking treatment in medical institutions, continuous medical use was limited. Conclusion: More research on major diseases to which police officers are at risk of exposure is necessary to analyze risk factors and accumulate related data to systematize health management. In addition, Korean medicine treatment techniques with excellent disease prevention are recommended for the health management of police officers.
