Recently, the society is being, developed physically and technically and the desire for the better equipped office environment has been required. Due to the change of recognition about the information-oriented office and the rapid progress ot the office automation many conventional office environment are changing to the new phase, the intelligent building. Unfortunately, because of the lack of the harmony between our business operating characteristics and the western office space planning, there are some severe problems in improving the business ability. To create the efficent office environment design, we have to understand the function of the western office space and our current phenomenon, appearing in the company. Thus, the goal of this study is to present the methodology for improving the office environmental design by analizing the following elements. - The concept of the office space - The historical frame of the office development - The consideration of the office characteristics - The Analysis of the business working Characteristics, organizing characteristics, and operating characteristics

Recently, much attention is paid on the office design be-cause the real world of work has undergone substantial changes, in both spatial and temporal aspects, due to the in-troduction of data processing technologies and new types of production. Today's renewed objectives of office are to define new physical space for work, to deal with economic and organizational changes. In the period of information, the purpose of an office is to improve the productivity for employers employees the comfort and vitality. Today's intellecture resources are necessary for the development in the modern business. The Hypid office, as an alternative in order to correspond the rapid changes, is proposed to give the space for satisfy-ing the basic desires of a human being-eating, resting and working. Accompanying with flexibility and comfortability, this office should include the space for personal purpose and the space for social purpose. Applying the concept of comfort like at home leads to re-lease a worker's stress from the society of information. The future office which is to enhance the quality of culture by in-tegrating indivisual, domestic and social life should commu-nicate efficiency, movement, energy, transformation.

This study is to inspect and analyse the historical background, spacial organization and architectural features about the traditional government office building of Gangwon Gamyoung(the supreme local government office of Gangwondo in Chosun dynasty). The results are as follows. - Gangwon Gamyoung was located at the center of Gangwondo in consideration of distance to each small local office. And also it was located in consideration of geographical connection between Hanseong(today's Seoul). - The spatial organization of Gamyoung was divided into the three parts of entrance space, government office building space and backyard space. The entrance space was composed of three gates(Pojungru-Jungsammun-Naesammun). The government office building Space was consisted of business and living building as center of Sunhwadang(the main office building). And the backyard space was composed of Yonji(pond), Jungja(bower), and so on - The way to enter the space of Gamyoung follows the order from Pojungru(the first & outer main gate with a bower), Jungsammun(the second & intermediate gate), Naesammun(the third & inner gate) to Sunhwadang at last. - There were a beautiful Yonji(pond) which to be rectangular type and to have a round island with Bongraegak(bower) at Gamyoung backyard, the drain conduit and pedestrian road covered with pebble in the ground.

This design is for the landscape of Busan Yeonje Post Office. The design requirements were: the preparation of an open space, the expression of regional identity, total design concept, and application of environmentally-friendly materials. The Busan Yeonje Post Office is not a just post office building but also a place for people including a communications center, rental offices, and a post office, facilities which require publicity, functionality, and symbolism. Therefore, this design reflected the design requirements, and considered the following to include the theme of "Pleasant messages and a pleasant post office with vitality and comfort. First, the open space was to be increased in the adjacent public vacant lot and street park by pulling back the construction line. In this way, the publicity, accessibility, and spatiality of the prepared open space were strengthened. Second, a sense of place for the landscape was expressed through the image of a wave representing Busan, a coastal town. Recognition of the space was strengthened, while regional identity and the concept of transmission of information were expressed. In addition, Citrus junos Sieb., representing 'Happy news' was Planted as a symbolic tree to denote a meaningful resting Place. Third, with respect to the design of reception facilities, considering the general purposes of the construction, post office stamps, envelopes, and postal delivery persons were portrayed on the walls, decorative walls, and environmental formations respectively The flooring was decorated with stamps and waves in keeping with of the total design concept. Fourth, to select environmentally-friendly materials, soil block and eco-grass block were introduced as major paving materials, and folk kinds of trees were included on site. According to the aforesaid plans, the researcher attempted to convert the public agency and office space characterized by feelings of dullness and rigidity into a soft and vivid outdoor space. It is expected that the location will be an open place in the downtown area and be recognized as a 'shared' space for citizens of Yeonje-gu.

The purpose of this study is to develop the basis data for methods of the plan to make the office space of the psychological environment by survey of preference to users in Department Store. The results are as follows : First, we could know that the space plan has to be considered the privacy and sociality for the psychological environment in office space. Second, we could know that there are efficient methods of space plan to use the cutoff division by partitions, the psychological division by furniture and the sensitive division by material for privacy in office and resting space. For sociality, there are efficient arrangement methods to plan by division type in office space and by opening type in resting space. And it is good method to use by color that is one in esthetical elements. Third, if we considered users, it is good method to use partitions to cutoff from the floor to the ceiling for privacy in office space and to use movable furnitures to cutoff for privacy in resting space. Forth, we could know that there is the difference in methods of space plan to be preferred by user's variables for privacy and sociality in office and resting spaces. Thus, i think that we have to study considering user's variables and types of department store.

The purpose of this study is to develop furniture design for work space of Office based on the research of furniture design and the survey on the design of the office furniture. The office furniture Is designed in order to use the space flexibly and for the user design in the work space. The furniture type of solo worker on characteristic kinds of works should have a simple shape and it should be safe and easy to move because it has a structural function. The furniture in office should be designed in consideration of moveing line while working. The development of furniture in office which suit human body should be made in consideration of human factors and the study on furniture design in office. As above mentioned, to research and study on the furniture design of working furniture in office which reduces fatigue resulted from labor for office, human factors aspect should be considered, furthermore psychological, mental approach to Ideal solution should be made.

These days, a cultural life level is improved through the industrialization and information-oriented age. It is becoming Emotional. Especially, people spend most of time in the office space. The office space is the place where they usually have mental activity and Inter-communication with others. So people who work in the office space need to apply not only convenience and public welfare but also comfortablespace. Moreover, This study analyzes color of a office space and materials, and accept from efficiency and an economic design. And will present direction of a color plan to be able to feel the sensitivity design that accepted from functionality and decoration.
