  • This paper describes implementation of a robot programming system for automation of manufacturing products, which is embedded in the C programming language. World representation and motion primitives necessary to describe a manipulator task are provided by a set of procedure calls and user defined data structures. Off-line programming is implemented with graphic simulation as a debugging tool. PUMA 560 manipulators are used as a model for one task which inserts a nonstandard power IC Iota PCB. Communication facilities are provided for collision avoidance or two manipulators.

  • The roll gap set-up in the finishing mill is one of the most important technologies in the hot plate rolling process. As the target thickness can be obtained by the correct set-up of the roll gap, improving the roll gap set-up technology is very critical for plate thickness accuracy. The main cause of thickness variation in hot plate mills is the non-uniform temperature distribution along the length of the slab. The objective of this study is to adjust the roll gap set-up for the thickness accuracy of plate in hot rolling process considering top-end temperature drop. Therefore this study has concentrated on determining the correct amounts of roll gap to compensate thickness variation due to top-end temperature drop. The off-line simulation of compensated roil gap significantly decreases top-end thickness variation.

  • Structures built in the coastal area often cause unexpectedly severe shoreline change on the adjacent beaches. Therefore, beach evolution is one of the most important problem in the coastal engineering. Beach evolution in the coastal area consisted of wave transform model and sediment transport model. Ebersoale's elliptic mild slope equation which considered the effect of combind wave refraction and perline and Dean's one line theory for the sediment transport model were used in this study. Kwangan beach was selected as study area and field observations were done. Numerical simulation for beach evolution in the Kwangan beach was performed and shoreline change predictions were suggested as results.

  • This paper describes the design and the simulation of a V-band single pole double throw (SPDT) FET switch fur millimeter-wave applications using drain impedance transformation network with CPW transmission line. The designed switch has about 10% bandwidth at 60GHz. Insertion loss is better than 3dB fur the ON state and Isolation is larger than 30dB fer the OFF state. The maximum isolation is 43.4dB at 60GHz with input power of 10dBm. The yield analysis is done considering the effects of pHEMT variations.

  • The emergence of competitive power market makes dispatch algorithm with transient stability constraints increasingly important for the transparent power system operation. Heuristic and off-line evaluation for the operation point can produce a discrimination among market players in the deregulated power system. In this paper, a dispatch algorithm with transient stability constraints is proposed. Energy margin under the TEF(Transient Energy Function) structure is adopted as a measure for the stability index. Implementation issues and simulation results are discussed in the context of a 10-bus system

  • It is well known that, for nominimum phase systems, a conventional linear controller of PID type or an adaptive controller of this structure shows limitation in achieving a satisfactory performance under tight specifications. In this paper, we combine a neuro-controller with a PI-controller with off-line learning capability provided by the Genetic Algorithm to propose a novel neuro-controller to control nonminimum phase systems effectively. The simulation results show that our proposed model is more efficient with faster rising time and less undershoot effect when the performances of the proposed controller and a conventional form are compared.

  • In this paper, we implemented the neuro-computer called MY-NEUPOWER in our research to carry out the artificial neural networks (ANN) calculating. An application software was developed based on a neural network using back-propagation (BP) algorithm under the UNIX platform by the specified computer language named MYPARAL. This neural network model was used as an auxiliary controller in the temperature control of sinter cooler system in steel plant which is a nonlinear system. The neural controller was trained off-line using the real input-output data as training pairs. We also made the system description of adaptive neural controller on the same temperature control system. We will carry out the whole system simulation to verify the suitability of neural controller in improving the system features.

  • This paper presents an $H_\infty$controller synthesis based on disturbance observer for the trajectory control of a hydraulic excavator. Compared to conventional robot manipulators driven by electrical motors, hydraulic excavator have more nonlinear and coupled dynamics. In particular, the interactions between an excavation tool and the materials being excavated are unstructured and complex. In addition, its operating modes depend on working conditions, which make it difficult to not only derive the exact mathematical model but also design a controller systematically. In this study, the approximated linear model obtained through off-line system identification is used as nominal plant model for a disturbance observer. A disturbance observer based tracking controller which considers the effect of disturbance and model uncertainty is synthesized in $H_\infty$frameworks. Simulation results are used to demonstrate the applicability of the proposed control scheme.

  • This paper presents a new approach to HVDC system control for damping subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) involving HVDC converters and turbine generator shaft systems. This requires a novel eigenvalue analysis (NEA) program, derivation of HVDC system modeling considering steady-state conditions and dynamic conditions in the combined AC/DC system, and an appropriate control scheme. The method suggested makes possible the design of a subsynchronous oscillation damping controller (SODC) to provide positive damping torque for the range of torsional modes in combined AC/DC systems. There are three steps involved in the design of a SODC; first the worst torsional mode is determined using the NEA program, next the SODC parameters are designed for the range of that torsional mode, and then finally an off-line simultaneous time domain program such as PSCAD/EMTDC is used to verify the parameters of the SODC. The suggested SODC design method is applied to two AC/DC systems, and its practicality is verified using the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program.
