인지 기반 작업수행(Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance: CO-OP) 그룹 중재가 뇌성마비 아동의 작업수행기술에 미치는 영향: 사례연구 (Effect of Group Cognitive Orientation to Daily Occupational Performance (CO-OP) Intervention on the Occupational Performance Skills of Children With Cerebral Palsy)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 뇌성마비 아동의 작업수행기술에 인지 기반 작업수행(Cognitive Orientation to daily Occupational Performance; CO-OP) 그룹 중재가 효과가 있는지 알아보고자 한다. 연구 방법 : 연구 선정기준에 부합하는 뇌성마비 아동 3명을 대상으로 2021년 4월부터 6월까지 진행하였으며, 연구 설계는 단일실험연구 ABA를 적용하였다. 기초선 기간(A) 3회기, 중재 기간(B)은 10회기(주 1회, 60분/회), 재기초선 기간(A') 3회기로 구성하여 실시하였다. 중재 전후 비교를 위한 평가로는 운동발달평가, 시지각 평가, 일상생활 동작 평가를 시행하였으며, 매회기의 수행의 질을 평가하기 위해서 수행의 질 평가척도를 사용하였다. 결과 : 3명의 대상자 모두 3가지 공통 목표 활동(양치질하기, 색종이 접기, 옷 입고 벗기)에서 작업수행의 질이 향상되었다. 또한 시지각, 대 운동과 소 운동, 일상생활 동작 평가 점수도 향상되었다. 결론 : CO-OP 그룹 중재가 전 학령기 및 학령기 뇌성마비 아동의 학업 전 기술 및 작업수행 향상에 효과적인 것으로 나타났다.

Impact of Coping and Communication Skills Program on Physician Burnout, Quality of Life, and Emotional Flooding

  • Background: Physician behaviors that undermine a culture of safety have gained increasing attention as health-care organizations strive to create a culture of safety and reduce medical errors. We developed, implemented, and assessed a course to teach physicians skills regarding effective coping and interpersonal communication skills and present our results regarding outcomes. Methods: We examined a professional development program specifically designed to address unprofessional or distressed behaviors of physicians, and we evaluated the impact on burnout, quality of life, and emotional flooding scores of the physicians. Assessments of burnout, quality of life, and emotional flooding were assessed preintervention and postintervention. Results: Results demonstrated statistically significant reductions over time in physicians' emotional flooding and emotional exhaustion (EE). Specifically, using a Wilcoxon Signed-Rank test, results revealed that flooding scores at follow-up were statistically significantly lower than at baseline, V = 590, p < 0.05, and EE and personal accomplishment distributions were found to significantly deviate from normal as indicated by Shapiroe-Wilks tests (p < 0.05). A Wilcoxon signed-rank test indicated that EE scores were significantly higher at baseline compared to follow-up 1, V = 285, p < 0.05. Conclusion: We conclude that the physician participants who enrolled in the educational skills training program improved scores on emotional flooding and EE and that this may be indicative of improved skills related to their experiences and learning in the program. These improved skills in physicians may have a positive impact on the overall culture of safety in the health system setting.

Occupational Safety and Health Activities Conducted across Countries in Asia

  • Three occupational safety and health (OSH) activities, one international and two national workshops, were documented as part of OSH activities conducted under the International Labor Organization/Korea Partnership Program in the year 2011-2012. This study aimed to provide information on what the three OSH activities were implemented and how they contributed to the improvement of OSH in Asian countries. The international workshop was useful for the participants to understand a variety of information on OSH as well as participatory action-oriented training (PAOT) approaches at the regional and global levels. The two national workshops were practical for participants to strengthen their knowledge and skills on the PAOT at the enterprise and national levels. The study shows that the three OSH activities contributed to the understanding of the participants on OSH and PAOT, and that the activities promoted the improvement of OSH across countries in Asia.

Corporate Characteristics and Occupational Injuries by Industry

  • Background: Recent research on occupational injuries in companies has faced difficulties in obtaining representative data, leading to studies relying on surveys or case studies. Moreover, it is difficult to find studies on how a company's industry characteristics affect occupational injuries. This study aims to address these limitations. Methods: We collected 11 years of disclosure data from 1,247 listed companies in the Korean stock market and combined it with their occupational injury histories collected by the Republic of Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA) to build a dataset. We attempted to analyze a linear panel model by dividing the dataset into manufacturing, construction, and other industries. Results: The higher proportion of full-time employees and better job skills correlate with lower occupational injuries in other industries. The wage increase reduces occupational injuries in manufacturing and other industries, but the substitution effect produces the opposite outcome in construction. Also, foreign ownership and credit ratings increase effectively reduce occupational injuries mainly in the manufacturing industry. Conclusion: Our results suggest that in explaining the relationship between corporate characteristics and occupational injuries, it is necessary to consider the nature of the industry more closely, and in particular, employment and labor policies for preventing occupational injuries need to be selectively applied according to industry. In addition, to improve the limitations and increase the usability of the research results, further detailed studies are needed in the future.

Correlation of Cognitive Function, Activities of Daily Living and Driving Performance in Stroke Hemiplegic Patients

  • Purpose : This study aims to evaluate the correlation of cognitive function, activities of daily living (ADL), and driving performance in stroke hemiplegic patients residing in Korea. Methods : Subjects of the study were 18 stroke hemiplegic patients admitted to hospitals situated in Seoul. A clock drawing test (CDT), a modified Barthel index (MBI), and a virtual reality driving simulator (Eca faros-driving simulator) were used to examine their cognitive function, their ADL ability, and their driving skills, respectively. Results : Driving skills of stroke hemiplegic patients were shown to be associated with the CDT evaluation tool (r=-.777) (p<.001), but they were found to have any correlation with MBI (r=-.022) (p>.05). Additionally, an individual's CDT showed that the driving simulator evaluation result (pass/fail) could be discriminated with a sensitivity of 100.0 %, a specificity of 40.0 %, and an accuracy of 66.7 %. The result confirmed that the CDT is a useful evaluation tool for screening driving ability in people with stroke. But the MBI did not show any significant results (sensitivity of 62.5 %, specificity of 40.0 %, and predicted the results of the simulator with 50.0 % of accuracy) (p>.05). Conclusion : This study shows that cognitive function influences the driving performance in people with stroke. Driving skills of stroke hemiplegic patients are seen to be highly related to CDT. In the field of driving rehabilitation, these findings could be useful for evaluating driving skills relating to CDT. Furthermore, the study results will set a guideline for domestic occupational therapists to use the evaluation tool for assessing driving abilities in people with stroke.

지적장애학생의 취업 및 고용 유지를 위한 주요기술 관련 특수교사 인식 (The Special School Teachers' Perception of the Significant Skills Required by Students with Intellectual Disabilities for Gaining and Maintaining Employment)

  • 본 연구는 지적장애 학생들의 취업 및 고용 유지를 위하여 필요한 기술들에 관한 지적장애 특수학교 교사들의 인식을 알아보기 위하여 설문조사와 심층면담을 실시하였다. 먼저 지적장애아교육 교사들을 대상으로 취업 및 고용유지를 위한 일상생활기술, 개인-사회적기술, 직업기술에 관한 인식을 알아보기 위한 설문조사를 실시하고, 양적 연구의 한계를 보완하기 위하여, 지적장애 학생들의 성공적인 취업 및 고용을 유지하기 위한 기술과 관련하여 심층 면담을 실시하였다. 연구의 결과에 따르면, 지적장애 학생들이 직업을 가지는 것이 성공적인 성인생활을 유지하기 위해 중요하다고 인식하고 있음에도 불구하고, 많은 지적장애학생들이 고용을 지속적으로 유지하지 못하는 경우가 많은 것으로 나타났다. 이는 지적장애학생들의 취업 후 지속적인 고용 유지를 방해하는 많은 요인들이 있기 때문이다. 양적연구의 결과에 따르면, 취업 및 고용을 유지하기 위해서는 일상생활기술, 직업기술, 개인-사회적 기술이 모두 중요하지만, 학생들의 개인-사회적기술이 무엇보다 중요하다고 인식하고 있었으며, 이를 위한 교육에 많은 노력을 기울이는 것으로 나타났다. 질적 연구의 결과에서도, 지적장애를 가진 학생들이 성공적으로 취업을 하고, 고용을 지속적으로 유지하기 위해서는 직업 기술보다는 학생들의 성실성, 착한 인성, 사회성기술, 지시따르기 등의 태도 등이 더욱 중요하다고 인식하고 있고, 이를 교수하기 위해 노력하는 것으로 나타났다.

치기공과 학생의 진로장벽과 구직효능감 관계에서 직업기초능력의 매개효과 (Mediating Effect of the Basic Occupational Ability in the Relationship between Career Barriers and the Job-seeking Efficacy of a Dental Technology Student)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to clarify the mediating effect of the basic occupational ability in relation to the career barrier and job-seeking efficacy of dental technology students. It aims to provide the basic data for NCS-based education and career guidance. Methods: The subject of the questionnaire survey was dental technology students. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. For reliable verification, a significance level of ${\alpha}=.05$ was used and reliability analysis, frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the basic occupational ability had a mediating effect in relation to career barriers and job-seeking efficacy. It was found that the basic occupational ability had a mediating effect in the relationship between job-seeking efficiently and other variables such as difficulty in an interpersonal relationship, lack of self-clarification, conflict with others in important positions, lack of job information, and lack of interest. Conclusion : The results of this study confirmed the importance of the basic occupational ability in improving job-seeking goals, job motivation, job search strength, job skills, and other related areas. If it appears difficult to overcome career barriers such as interpersonal difficulty, lack of self-clarification, conflict with other important people, lack of job information, and lack of interest, then the improvement of the basic occupational ability can be expected to enhance the job-seeking efficiency.

  • This study is a randomized pretest-posttest design that aims to investigate the effect of early entrepreneurship education on cognitive and non- early entrepreneurship education, non-cognitive skills, creativity, self-efficacy, Bizworld cognitive skills of male sixth-grade primary school students. A total of 45 students were selected by multi-stage random sampling method and were assigned randomly to experimental, active-control and control groups. The experimental group received entrepreneurship education based on the Bizworld entrepreneurship program. The results indicate that early entrepreneurship education had an effect on non-cognitive skills (such as risk taking propensity, creativity, self-efficacy, persistence and need for achievement. It seems that early entrepreneurship education is a proper strategy to develop children's non-cognitive skills in late years of primary school. These skills will affect children's individual, educational, social and occupational future and can have long term benefits for students, families and society.

The relationship between visual perception and social skills in late adolescence

  • It is necessary to investigate how age or gender affects visual perception and social skills in late adolescence. A study on the relevance of visual perception in late adolescence, a period that requires social adaptation through the development of social functions, is necessary. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between visual perception and social skills in adolescence. Visual perception and social skill were evaluated for 18-24-year-olds, who are in late adolescence, and were analyzed for gender differences and correlations with chronological age. This study found that there was a difference in visual perceptual function according to gender in late adolescence, and it was significantly higher in men. There was no significant difference in social skills according to gender. However, there was a significantly positive correlation between chronological age and visual perception, but there was no correlation with social skills. These findings provide novel information regarding the developmental course of visual perception and social skill in late adolescence.

집단 요리활동 프로그램이 지역아동센터 비장애 아동의 실행기능에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Group Cooking Program on Executive Function of the Non-disabled Children in Community Children's Center)

  • 목적 : 본 연구는 작업에 기반을 둔 집단 요리활동 프로그램이 지역아동센터 비장애 아동의 실행기능에 미치는 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구방법 : 지역아동센터를 이용하는 만 6~9세 아동 6명이 2017년 7월부터 2017년 8월까지 본 연구에 참여하였다. 본 연구는 단일 집단 사전-사후 설계로, 지역아동센터 아동들을 대상으로 집단 요리활동 프로그램을 진행하였다. 중재 전 후에 스트룹 아동 색상-단어 검사(STROOP Color and Word Test), 아동 색 선로 검사(Children's Color Trails Test), 운동처리기술평가(Assessment of Motor and Process Skills)를 사용하여 아동들의 실행기능을 평가하여 프로그램의 효과를 측정하였다. 결과 : 중재 전과 비교하여 중재 후 스트룹 아동 색상-단어 검사와 운동처리기술평가의 처리기술 점수가 통계적으로 유의하게 향상되었다(p<.05). 아동 색 선로 검사에 있어 중재 전 점수와 중재 후 점수 간에 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다(p>.05). 결론 : 본 연구는 지역아동센터 비장애 아동을 대상으로 한 집단 요리활동 프로그램 중재가 인지적 억제 실행기능과 수행 실행기능에 효과가 있음을 제시하였다. 본 연구는 작업에 기반을 둔 중재 접근이 지역사회의 다양한 대상들에게 적용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
