The concept of implant stability was basically originated from the relative condition of bone-implant interface and has some meanings for evaluation of that interface. In addtion, it has been used for the investigation of initial bone healing process after fixture installation because a degree of micromotion around interface can affect unfavorable clinical results. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mode of initial bone healing from fixture installation through prospective trial. Thirty fixtures were consecutively installed in mandibles of 26 patients with single tooth loss area and then healing abutment were secured for one-stage surgery meothod. Resonance frequency analysis was performed with one week interval during 12 weeks and periapical radiographs were taken at each month. Although marginal bone level change was not shown through observation period (P>0.05), statistical difference of implant stability was shown through 4 and 6 week (P<0.05) and was not shown after 6 week (P>0.05) according to the bone quality. Initial bone healing process is a successive process of bone resorption and favorable bone healing result might be postulated at 4 week interval after installation through RFA.
This study was designed to examine the effects of electroacupuncture and treadmill exercise on the improvement of muscle atrophy and Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF) expression in an ischemic stroke model induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion. This study selected 120 Sprangue-Dawley rats, divided them into six groups, and assigned 5 rats to each group. Experiments were conducted for 1, 3 days and 1, 8 weeks, respectively. In each group, changes in weight of muscle and relative muscle of tibialis anterior muscle, histologic observations, and BDNF expression were observed and analyzed. For the changes in muscle weight of unaffected and affected sides of tibialis anterior, muscle atrophy was expressed in an affected side 3 days after ischemic stroke was induced. There was a statistically significant difference in Group VI 1 and 8 weeks after ischemic stroke was induced, compared to Group II (p<.05). For the changes in relative muscle weight of unaffected and affected sides of tibial anterior muscle, there was significant decrease in each group 3 days after ischemic stroke was induced, compared to Group I, while there was a statistically significant increase in Group VI 1 week after ischemic stroke was induced, compared to Group II (p<.05). For neurologic exercise behavior test, Group VI generally had the highest score, compared to other groups. The results of the behavior test suggests that 8 weeks after ischemic stroke was induced, Group VI improved in degeneration and inflammation of muscle fiber and decreased in destruction of nerve cells and cerebral infarction, thus indicating a similar state of muscle fiber and brain tissue in Group I. In immunohistochemical observations, Group 1 week showed increase in BDNF. Based on these results, electroacupuncture and treadmill exercise may improve muscle atrophy and change in BDNF expression of ischemic stroke rats and contribute to the improvement of exercise function.

The person Re-identification is the most challenging part of computer vision due to the significant changes in human pose and background clutter with occlusions. The picture from non-overlapping cameras enhance the difficulty to distinguish some person from the other. To reach a better performance match, most methods use feature selection and distance metrics separately to get discriminative representations and proper distance to describe the similarity between person and kind of ignoring some significant features. This situation has encouraged us to consider a novel method to deal with this problem. In this paper, we proposed an enhanced recurrent neural network with three-tier hierarchical network for person re-identification. Specifically, the proposed recurrent neural network (RNN) model contain an iterative expectation maximum (EM) algorithm and three-tier Hierarchical network to jointly learn both the discriminative features and metrics distance. The iterative EM algorithm can fully use of the feature extraction ability of convolutional neural network (CNN) which is in series before the RNN. By unsupervised learning, the EM framework can change the labels of the patches and train larger datasets. Through the three-tier hierarchical network, the convolutional neural network, recurrent network and pooling layer can jointly be a feature extractor to better train the network. The experimental result shows that comparing with other researchers' approaches in this field, this method also can get a competitive accuracy. The influence of different component of this method will be analyzed and evaluated in the future research.
This study was undertaken to assess the effect of growth on the lips. Not only does lip growth influence the stability of such orthodontic treatment; it also directly influence facial profile, in which the lips have an important part. An understanding of the growth of lips is thus central to a consideration of profile change in orthodontics. By analyzing the serial lateral cephalograms of 15 male and 15 female of 8 years old to 16 yaers old who have normal occlusion. The result of this study were summerized as follows; 1. The largest growth increments in the length of the lips was mod age of 14 in both sexes. 2. The thickness of lips showed lager value for the male than that of the female in the most age group. The lagest growth increments at A point was occured age of 14, while Ls, Li, B point decreased after the age of 10-11. 3. The largest increase in the interval between crest of lower lip and edge of upper incisors was occured between ages 9 and 11 in males. The interval decreased slightly from 8 to 16 years in females. 4. The nasolabial angle decreased slightly from 8 to 16 years in both sexes. 5. The mentolabial angle showed large variation.
This study was intended to perform cephalometric analysis of the facial soft tissue profile after surgical correction of skeletal Class III malocclusion after SSRO in 29 patients (Males 12, females 17). Lateral cephalograms were taken in centric occlusion before and immediate, long term after surgeries. 1. Counter-clockwise rotation of mandible was observed after the surgery, average relapses of mandibular set back were 1.23-1.28mm. The net effects of the mandibular set-back after surgeries were 81.7-82.2%. Because these relapse tendencies may reduce the effects of the surgical outcomes, surgeon must consider these net before the surgical treatment planning. 2. The ratio of horizontal changes of hard tissue to soft tissue at lower lip, mentolabial sulcus, pogonion were 72.7-93.7%, 100.3%, 99.1-102.1% respectively. There were little changes at upper lip position anteroposteriorly. 3. The relationship of upper and lower lips were improved after surgery. Lower lip was posteriorly repostioned and upper lip was flattend and elongated in conjunction with deepening of inferior lobial sulcus. But profile of chin was still prominent after surgery. 4. Hard tissue horizontal changes and tissue vertical changes were significantly correlated with each other and there were reverse correlations with hard tissue vertical changes and soft tissue horizontal changes.
mastication is basically regulated by central pattern regulalor(CPG) of brain system, target organ output from CPG is modulated by oral sensory feedback, anterior cross bite pattern infuluence the feedback mechanism and change muscle activity and jaw movement. The purpose of this study was to investigate differnce anterior cross bite group from normal group, the selected sample groups were 30 normal patient, 30 anterior cross bite patient. EMG and EGN of Biopak system were used for this study The following results were obtained 1 In resting slate of mandible, anterior cross-bite showed the higher muscle activities in all the muscle.(exception:left digastric muscle) than normal group. 2. In clenching state, No significant difference in muscle activities of normal group and anterior cross bite group was noticed 3. In swallowing state Normal group showed the higher muscle activities in left and right masseter muscle, right posterior temporal muscle. 4. In maximum opening and closing velocity, normal group showed the higher value than anterior cross-bite. 5. In the mean value of the maximum opening, the maximum anterior posterior movemenl from centric-occlusion, the lateral deviation from centric occclusion, normal group showed the higher value than anterior cross-bite group.

According to our recent investigation that the increase in the occlusal vertical dimension made the appendage muscle strength got higher, the occlusal appliances were made by increasing the occlusal vertical dimension "from the centric relation" position of the mandible. In this experiment, the authors tried to study the change in the appendage muscle strength due to increase in occlusal vertical dimension from intercuspal position(ICP) of mandible with the same subjects and manner as the former experiment. For this study, ten male athletes in a mean age of 23 year who were joined the former study were selected. All the subjects had a complete or almost complete set of natural teeth and reported no subjective symptoms of temporomandibular disorders. Upper and lower casts were mounted on the semi-adjustable articulator at the intercuspal position and a point was marked on the attached gingival area between the right canine and the right 1st. premolar in each upper and lower cast. From the points, the occlusal vertical dimension was increased by 2mm, 3.5mm and 5mm, and then each 10 maxillary type occlusal splint at each 3-increased position were fabricated with heat curing clear acrylic resin. Including the intercuspal position, the 3 kinds of occlusal splints were placed on the subjects individually, and then isokinetic muscle strength on 7 parts of the human appendage which are shoulder, knee, ankle, wrist, forearm, elbow and hip was measured with the CYBEX 6000 SYSTEM (Lumex, NewYork, USA). The results were as follows: The highest mean value in muscular strength was shown at the position of 2mm-increased vertical dimension. The muscle strength during internal/external rotation of shoulder and knee, plantarflexion of ankle, flexion of elbow, and flexion and extension of hip at the increased occlusal vertical dimension position were significantly higher than them at the intercuspal position (p<0.05). Only in view of the increase in the appendage muscle strength, regardless of the way of making the occlusal splints by elevating the occlusal vertical dimension from the centric relation position or intercuspal position, the occlusal splints had an effect on the increase of isokinetic muscle strength at the occlusal vertical dimension which increased within the proper range on the habitual arc of closure.

Botulinum toxin type A (BoNT-A) is used for treating bilateral masseter hypertrophy since 1994. Recently there have been more clinical studies in this area, with some authors reporting that BoNT-A can reduce the size of the masseter muscle, as documented by photography, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and 3D(three dimensional) laser scan. However, earlier studies were only for bilateral masseter hypertrophy cases, not for unilateral masseter hypertrophy cases. The aim of this study was to use 3D laser scanning to evaluate changes in the external facial contour induced by unilateral BoNT-A injection. BoNT-A was injected into hypertrophic masseter muscle unilaterally in 10 patients with asymmetric masseter hypertrophy. The clinical effects of unilaterally injected BoNT-A were evaluated before the injection and 4, 8, and 12weeks after the injection using 3D laser scan. And the mean values of both sides (injection and non-injection sides) were compared with. At injection side, mean values of the volume and the bulkiest height at each time point diminished significantly between pre-injection and 4, 8, and 12weeks post-injection. At non-injection side, in contrast, mean values of the volume and the bulkiest height diminished also but less than that of injected side, and there was no statistical significance. In this limited study, we concluded that the unilaterally BoNT-A injection side showed greater mean values of the reduction of muscle volume than non-injection side at 4, 8, and 12 weeks after the injection.
Environmental Enrichment (EE) alone is not capable of enhancing the fine digit and the forelimb functions. Therefore, we applied modified constraint-induced movement therapy (mCIMT) under the influence of EE to assess its effect on promoting improved forelimb sensorimotor functions. Focal ischemic brain injury was produced in Sprague-Dawley rats (60 rats, $250{\pm}50$ g) through middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Before MCAO induction, all rats were trained in modified limb placing tests and reaching tasks for 1 week. Then they were randomly divided into three groups: Group I: application of standard environment (SE) after MCAO induction (n=20), Group II: application of EE after MCAO induction (n=20), Group III: MCAO+EE, mCIMT and task-oriented training that was initiated at 10th day after MCAO induction (n=20). We also applied mCIMT (between 9 AM and 5 PM/daily) which included restraining the forelimb ipsilateral to the lesion using the 'Jones & Schallert' method. We assessed the change of modified limb placing, single pellet reaching test and the immunoreactivity of BDNF by immunohistochemistry (pre, 1st, 5th, 10th and 20th day). Group I showed no improved outcome, whereas group II and III significantly improved on the use of the forelimb and the immunoreactivity. The qualitative analysis of the skilled reaching test, of group III showed the greatest improvement in the fine digit and the forelimb function. These results suggest that EE combined with mCIMT is more functional in promoting enhanced fine digit and forelimb functional movements.

Periodontal disease is characterized by inflammation and subsequent loss and/or damage to tooth-supporting tissues such as bone, cementum, and periodontal ligament. Periodontal ligament and cementum are the key tissues in the initial process of regeneration following periodontal disease. Therefore, studies on cementoblasts, which form cementum are emphasized. It is still unclear which cells cementoblast differentiate from. This study was conducted under the hypothesis that PDL fibroblast can differentiate into either cementoblast or osteoblast depending on the conditions of surrounding tissue. Clinically, with excessive traction force of orthodontic appliances or excessive occlusion hypercementosis is observed, and this has been confirmed histologically. Consequently, activation of cementoblast can be expected in rats when mechanical stimuli are given to PDL fibroblast. Therefore, the purpose of this article is to prove that PDL fibroblast differentiates into cementoblast in rats under mechanical stimuli using histologic and molecular methods. In this study, twenty rats were given hard diet. Ten of them were sacrificed after 1 week, and the others were sacrificed after two weeks. Slides were made from tooth specimen, and they were studied under the microscope. In addition, PDL fibroblast and cementum from the extracted teeth were analyzed with Northern blotting. In histologic examination, as time passed, PDL fibroblast migrated to the dentin side, differentiated into cementoblast, and formed new cementum. In Northern blotting, it was found that mRNA expression of cementoblast-specific proteins such as BSP, OC, OPN, and type I collagen were more prominent in rats sacrificed after 2 weeks of hard-diet than rats sacrificed after 1 week. From these findings we can conclude that PDL fibroblast can differentiate into cementoblast under mechanical stimuli. We think that 'Rat Models' used in this study will be beneficial to future studies regarding cementoblast.
