In this work, a comparative study of multi-objective meta-heuristics (MOMHs) for optimum design of a walking tractor handlebar is conducted in order to reduce the structural mass and increase structural static and dynamic stiffness. The design problem has objective functions as maximising structural natural frequencies, minimising structural mass, bending deflection and torsional deflection with stress constraints. The problem is classified as a many-objective optimisation since there are more than three objectives. Design variables are structural shape and size. Several well established multi-objective optimisers are employed to solve the proposed many-objective optimisation problems of the walking tractor handlebar. The results are compared whereas optimum design solutions of the walking tractor handlebar are illustrated.

This paper presents the newly developed Pareto-based multi-objective Bees Algorithm with weighted sum technique for solving a power system multi-objective nonlinear optimization problem. Specifically, the Pareto-based Bees Algorithm with memorized zone has been developed to alleviate both difficulties from classical techniques and intelligent techniques for multi-objective problems (MOP) and successfully applied to an Environmental/Economic (electric power) dispatch (EED) problem. This multi-objective Bees Algorithm has been examined and applied to the standard IEEE 30-bus six-generator test system. Simulation results have been compared to those obtained using other approaches. The comparison shows the potential and effectiveness of the proposed Bees Algorithm for solving the multi-objective EED problem.

Topology optimization is an effective scheme to obtain the initial design concept: however, it is hard to apply in case of non-linear or multi-objective problems. In this study, a modified topology optimization method is proposed to generate a structure of a swing arm type actuator satisfying maximum compliance as well. as maximum stiffness using the multi-objective optimization. approach. The multi-objective function is defined to maximize the compliance in the direction of focusing of the actuator and the second eigen-frequency of the structure. The design of experiments are performed and the response surface functions are formulated to construct the multi-objective function. The weighting factors between conflicting functions are determined by the back-error propagation neural network and the solution of multi-objective function is acquired using the genetic algorithm.
This study examines the determinants of trade show performance of export-oriented small and medium enterprises(SMEs). In this regard, the trade show performance is categorized into two dimensions, such as sales objective performance vs. non-sales objective performance Based on the analysis of 116 exporters participated in trade show held in DaeGu EXCO, it is found that the roles of the show organizers play more important roles in both the sales objective performance and the non-sales objective performance than the roles of the exhibitors do. It is also interesting to find that export experience has a negative influence on both the sales objective performance and the non-sales objective performance. These results suggest that trade show organizers should provide high service quality so as to enhance the trade show performance of exhibitors.

As one of the major handling performances of the vehicle and tire, the steering feel is very important in the high speed where safety and refinement is a major concern for the drivers. This paper presents both subjective and objective techniques for the assessment of the steering feel including the on-center feel and steering response. For this, subjective evaluation method of the steering feel was studied at first and then objective parameters were selected by considering the process by which the steering feel is evaluated subjectively. From statistical analysis of subjective and objective data for the several vehicles and professional drivers, it was found that the subjective assessment of the steering feel could be successfully explained by means of the suggested objective parameters. Also, the main objective parameters related to the subjective assessment of the steering feel could be found.

This study proposes a multi-objective optimum design method for a rational optimization of high-speed railway bridges. This multi-objective optimization is found to be effective in optimizing multi-objective problems that incorporate cost and dynamic responses such as vertical acceleration and displacement. These design factors are so important in the high-speed railway bridges. And the trade off method which is one of the most typical multi-objective optimization methods is used in this study, since the dynamic factors are formulated as objective function and also considered as constraints. And the Pareto curve can be obtained by performing the multi-objective optimization for real high-speed railway bridges. Thus, it is found that more reasonable design can be obtained when compared with those using conventional design procedure.
Wets ([4],[5],[6]) considered single objective linear two-stage programming problem under uncertainty with complete recourse. Artstein, Dupacova, Romisch, Schultz and Wets studied stability of this problem id depth. But in many real world problems to make best decision, we need multiple objective functions. So we consider the following multiple objective two-stage programming problems with complete fixed recourse.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a distributed Sensor network whose terminals are sensors that can sense and check the environment. Sensors are typically battery-powered and deployed in where the batteries are difficult to replace. Therefore, maximize the consumption of node energy and extend the network's life cycle are the problems that must to face. Low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) protocol is an adaptive clustering topology algorithm, which can make the nodes in the network consume energy in a relatively balanced way and prolong the network lifetime. In this paper, the novel multi-objective LEACH protocol is proposed, in order to solve the proposed protocol, we design a multi-objective coupling algorithm based on bat algorithm (BA), glowworm swarm optimization algorithm (GSO) and bacterial foraging optimization algorithm (BFO). The advantages of BA, GSO and BFO are inherited in the multi-objective coupling algorithm (MBGF), which is tested on ZDT and SCH benchmarks, the results are shown the MBGF is superior. Then the multi-objective coupling algorithm is applied in the multi-objective LEACH protocol, experimental results show that the multi-objective LEACH protocol can greatly reduce the energy consumption of the node and prolong the network life cycle.

In this paper, a convenient scheme for solving multi-objective optimization problems including fuzzy information in both objective functions and constraints is presented. At first, a multi-objective problem is converted into single objective problem based on the norm method, and a merbership function is constructed by selecting its type and providing the parameters defined by the norm method. Finally, this fuzzy programming problem is converted into an ordinary optimization problem which can be solved by usual nonlinear programming techniques. With this scheme, a designer can conveniently obtain pareto optimal solutions of a fuzzy system only by providing some parameters corresponding to the importance of the objectiv functions. Proposed scheme is simple and efficient in treating multi-objective fuzzy systems compared with and method by with membership function value is provided interactively. To show the validity of the scheme, a simple 3-bar truss example and optimal cutting problem are solved, and the results show that the scheme is very useful and easy to treat multi-objective fuzzy systems.
Congestion management is one of the technical challenges in power system deregulation. This paper presents single objective and multi-objective optimization approaches for optimal choice, location and size of Static Var Compensators (SVC) and Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitors (TCSC) in deregulated power system to improve branch loading (minimize congestion), improve voltage stability and reduce line losses. Though FACTS controllers offer many advantages, their installation cost is very high. Hence Independent System Operator (ISO) has to locate them optimally to satisfy a desired objective. This paper presents optimal location of FACTS controllers considering branch loading (BL), voltage stability (VS) and loss minimization (LM) as objectives at once using GA. It is observed that the locations that are most favorable with respect to one objective are not suitable locations with respect to other two objectives. Later these competing objectives are optimized simultaneously considering two and three objectives at a time using multi-objective Strength Pareto Evolutionary Algorithms (SPEA). The developed algorithms are tested on IEEE 30 bus system. Various cases like i) uniform line loading ii) line outage iii) bilateral and multilateral transactions between source and sink nodes have been considered to create congestion in the system. The developed algorithms show effective locations for all the cases considered for both single and multiobjective optimization studies.
