경도비만 여성에서 생커피두 엑기스의 섭취에 의한 체지방 감소 효과 (Effect of Green Coffee Bean Extract Supplementation on Body Fat Reduction in Mildly Obese Women)

  • In previous studies, we performed joint animal studies and clinical trials between Yonsei University and Oryza Oil & Fat Chemical Co. Ltd. We have shown that coffee bean extract has potent anti-obesity and hypotriglyceridemic activities as well as beneficial effects on body fat reduction.In this study, the effects of coffee bean extract (100 mg/capsule) on body fat reduction were evaluated in overweight/obese women (body mass index of 25~30 $kg/m^2$ or body fat > 30%) not diagnosed with any type of disease. Subjects were randomly assigned to a coffee bean extract group (n=10) or placebo group (n=10). We measured anthropometric parameters, abdominal fat distribution by computed tomography and blood components before and after the 8week intervention period. After supplementation, the coffee bean extract group showed body weight (p=0.08), body mass index (p=0.06), hip circumference (p<0.05), and upper waist circumference (p< 0.01). In addition, after 8 weeks, the coffee bean extract group showed a significant decrease in abdominal internal fat area compared to 0 weeks (0 weeks : $155.8cm^2$; 8 weeks : $145.9cm^2$, ${\Delta}$ change : $-9.9cm^2$, respectively). However, there were no significant differences in lipid profiles or serological measurements between the coffee bean extract group and placebo group. The results of our human study demonstrated that coffee bean extract supplementation for 8 weeks has beneficial effects on reducing abdominal internal fat area as well as hip and waist circumferences.

피세아테놀과 레스베라트롤의 혈당조절 및 TLR4-NF-κB 경로 조절 작용 (In Vitro and In Vivo Effects of Piceatannol and Resveratrol on Glucose Control and TLR4-NF-κB Pathway)

  • 본 연구에서는 팔미틴산을 처리한 지방간질환 간세포 모델과 비만/당뇨 동물 모델인 KK/HlJ 마우스를 이용하여 피세아테놀과 레스베라트롤 투여가 염증조절에 주는 영향을 알아보고자 하였다. 4주간의 피세아테놀과 레스베라트롤 섭취는 공복혈당과 경구당부하 검사 2시간 후 AUC를 감소시켜 혈당 조절 개선 효과를 보였다. 또한, 팔미틴산을 처리한 지방간질환 간세포 모델에 피세아테놀과 레스베라트롤을 처리한 결과 염증조절 경로인자인 TLR4와 $NF-{\kappa}B$의 발현을 유의적으로 감소시켰다. 이를 in vivo 비만/당뇨 동물 모델인 KK/HlJ 마우스의 간 조직에서 확인한 결과 피세아테놀 섭취는 NLRP3와 $NF-{\kappa}B$의 간 조직에서의 발현을 유의적으로 감소시켰고, IL-1 발현을 감소시키는 경향을 보였다. 하지만 동량의 레스베라트롤 섭취는 이와 같은 항염증 효과를 보이지 않았다. 결론적으로 혈당 조절 개선 효과와 항염증 효과에 있어 피세아테놀이 레스베라트롤보다 우수한 효과를 가지고, 피세아테놀의 항염증 효과는 혈당 조절 개선 효과에 부분적으로 기여할 것으로 제안한다.

진피 복합제 복용과 운동이 비만 여성의 체격, 체지방 및 혈중지질에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Dried Orange Peel Compound intaking and Exercise Training on the Physique, Body Fat, and Concentration of Blood Lipid in Obese Women)

  • The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of dried orange peel compound intaking and exercise training on the physique, body fat, and concentration bloodlipid in obese women. Ninety-seven volunteers(mean age 21.47 ${\pm}$ 1.47 yrs), all over 30% of body fat, agreed to Participate and were placed in 4 groups: dried orange peel compound intaking and exercise group(n=25), only exercise group(n=25), only dried orange peel compound intaking group(n=24), and control group(n=20). The subjects who joined this project were asked to take dried orange peel compound(2 times/day, 30 ml/time) or participate in exercise program(3 times/week, 70 min/day), depending on particular group for 12 weeks. They were tested on their height, weight, circumference of chest, abdomen, hip, and thigh, body fat%, total-cholesterol(TC), HDL-C, LDL-c, and triglyceride(TG) at the beginning and the end of the 12-weeks program. For data analysis, paired t-tests and ANCOVAs were used. The intaking of dried orange peel compound was influenced on weight, circumference of chest, abdomen, hip, and thigh, body fat%, HDL-C, LDL-C, and TG. The exercise participation had almost same effects on those dependent variables. Furthermore, the dried orange peel compound intaking along with exercise training was the most effective on those dependent variables among them. Therefore, these results indicate that dried orange peel compound intaking, like exercise, may be useful for controling weight, body fat, HDL-C, LDL-C, and TG.

디지털 시대에 융복합적인 웰니스를 위한 걷기 운동의 효과 - 신체활동 중심으로 - (Effects of walking exercise for wellness convergence in the digital age - Based on physical activity -)

  • 본 연구는 디지털 시대의 40대 중년여성을 대상으로 첫 번째 중년여성의 2주간 신체활동(보행 수, 칼로리 소모, 신체활동 강도)을 조사하여 정상인과 비만인 간에 차이를 비교하고, 두 번째 정상인과 비만인을 대상으로 계획된 24주간 주당 3회 500kcal 소모를 목표로 하는 규칙적인 걷기 운동을 실시하여 주 3일의 운동일과 주 4일의 비운동일, 그리고 일주일 평균 신체활동(보행 수, 칼로리 소모, 신체활동 강도)에 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 규칙적인 걷기 운동 프로그램 적용 2주전 신체활동(보행 수, 칼로리 소모, 운동 강도)에 있어 정상인과 비만인 간에는 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났고, 융복합적인 웰니스를 위해 인위적으로 설정된 24주간 주당 3회 500kcal 소모를 목표로 하는 규칙적인 걷기 운동 프로그램은 정상 집단에서는 3일의 운동 한 날과 4일의 운동 하지 않는 날, 그리고 일주일 평균 신체활동(보행 수, 칼로리 소모, 운동 강도)에 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타난 반면 비만인에서는 부정적인 효과를 보인 운동 강도(level 0)를 제외한 모든 신체활동(보행 수, 칼로리 소모, 운동 강도) 에서 긍정적인 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다.

저열량균형식, 운동 및 행동수정에 의한 비만여성의 치료에 관한 연구 (Treatment of Obese Women with Low Calorie Diet, Aerobic Exercise and Behavior Modificaiton)

  • 체지방이 30% 이상으로 비만이라 판정되는 20~62세의 지원자들에게 저열량 균형식, 무리하지 않은 유산소 운동 및 개인별 비만의 원인을 교정하고 평생체중을 조절하기 위한 영양상담과 교육을 포함한 행동수정을 통해 5주 동안 비만을 치료하고 성인병과 관련된 위험 요인들의 변화를 살펴보았다. 활동량, 식습관, 식이섭취조사를 실시하여 개인별 비만의 원인을 진단한 후 잘못된 식생활을 교정할 수 있도록 주 3회의 영양상담과 매주 1회의 영양교육을 실시하였다. 식이요법은 1일 1끼의식사와 3회의 조제식이를 통해 열량이 1200kcal 정도가 되고, 양질의 단백질, 비타민, 무기질은 성인 권장량의 100~150% 이상이 되도록 하였다. 식전에 식이섬유와 물을 복용하고 식사 기간은 20분 이상으로 천천히 섭취하도록 하였으며, 투긴음식, 가공식품, 패스트 푸두, 술, 청량음료, 달고 기름진 음식, 짜고 자극적인 음식 등은 제한하였다. 주당 3~5일간 1시간 정도의 가벼운 유산소 체조를 실험대상자 저원이 모여서 실시하였다. 먹은 식품, 활동, 운동, 감정상태, 피로여부 등을 일지로서 기록하게 하여 삼담을 통해 교정하고 관찰하여 긍정적인 내적동기를 갖도록 교육하였다. 비만치료 기간 중 탈락한 수는 총 16명 중 5명 (31.3%)이었으며, 비만도는 대상자의 대부분이 경증이고, 불규칙적인 식사, 빨리 먹는 습관, 과식, 짜게 먹는 습관, 야식, 음주 등의 비만의 원인이 되는 습관들을 가지고 있어 식습관 점수는 개선이 요구된다고 진단되었다. 5주동안의 비만치료로 체중은 평균 4.8kg(주당 0.96kg)이 감량 되었으며, 체지방, body mass index, 허리, 팔, 둔부의 둘레가 유의적으로 감소되었다. 혈압, 공복시의 혈당, 혈액증의 중성지방, 총콜레스테롤, HDL-콜레스테롤은 변화가 없었으나, LDL-콜레스테롤은 유의적으로 감소하였다.

과체중 및 비만 여성에서 의학영양치료에 의한 체격지수의 변화 양상 및 식사 섭취와 혈액학적 지표의 변화 (Effects of Medical Nutrition Therapy on Changes of Anthropometric Measurements, Dietary Pattern and Blood Parameters in Over Weight or Obese Women)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of medical nutrition therapy (MNT) on anthropometric measurements, quality of diets, and blood parameters through the weight loss program in over weight or obese women. The subjects (n=76, $age\;31.1{\pm}8.4y,\;weight\;70.3{\pm}7.9kg,\;BMI\;27.2{\pm}2.4kg/m^2$) without medical disease were treated with MNT 5 times for 12 weeks by dietitian. Anthropometric measurements included height, weight, fat mass, lean body mass, triceps and thigh skin-fold thickness, mid-arm, waist, hip and thigh circumference. Dietary assessments were accomplished using 3-days food records, diet quality index (DQI), and dietary pattern. The dietary pattern was assessed by daily energy intakes from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks of calorie density, and numbers of eating. Blood levels of leptin, lipid profiles (total lipids, total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol), and insulin were analyzed. Anthropometric measurements decreased significantly after MNT (p<0.001). Waist circumference was reduced most rapidly and tricep skin-fold thickness was reduced most effectively after 12 weeks of MNT. Daily energy intake, calorie density and numbers of eating incidence decreased significantly $0796.4{\pm}395.5\;vs\;1402.9{\pm}217.8\;kcal/day,\;162.3{\pm}56.5\;vs\;113.4{\pm}30.1,\;5.0{\pm}1.4\;vs\;3.8{\pm}0.4$, respectively, p<0.05). The daily energy intake from breakfast and snacks significantly decreased (p<0.001). Calories from snack, calorie density of snack and numbers of snacking also decreased (p<0.05). The mean scores of DQI significantly increased ($7.6{\pm}2.1\;vs\;6.5{\pm}1.6$, p<0.05). The plasma levels of total lipid, triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and leptin decreased significantly after MNT ($489.8{\pm}100.4\;vs\;447.0{\pm}87.3mg/dL,\;187.7{\pm}34.0\;vs\;175.9{\pm}31.5mg/dL,\;115.2{\pm}29.2\;vs\;109.2{\pm}26.7mg/dL,\;15.7{\pm}7.6\;vs\;12.4{\pm}5.9ng/mL$, respectively, p<0.05). These results indicate that MNT efficiently reduced the body weight through the changes in dietary intake, dietary patterns and dietary quality. MNT also changed body composition and reduced the levels of plasma lipid, cholesterol and leptin.

Interactions Between Genetic Risk Score and Healthy Plant Diet Index on Cardiometabolic Risk Factors Among Obese and Overweight Women

  • People with higher genetic predisposition to obesity are more susceptible to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and healthy plant-based foods may be associated with reduced risks of obesity and other metabolic markers. We investigated whether healthy plant-foods-rich dietary patterns might have inverse associations with cardiometabolic risk factors in participants at genetically elevated risk of obesity. For this cross-sectional study, 377 obese and overweight women were chosen from health centers in Tehran, Iran. We calculated a healthy plant-based diet index (h-PDI) in which healthy plant foods received positive scores, and unhealthy plant and animal foods received reversed scores. A genetic risk score (GRS) was developed based on 3 polymorphisms. The interaction between GRS and h-PDI on cardiometabolic traits was analyzed using a generalized linear model (GLM). We found significant interactions between GRS and h-PDI on body mass index (BMI) (p = 0.02), body fat mass (p = 0.04), and waist circumference (p = 0.056). There were significant gene-diet interactions for healthful plant-derived diets and BMI-GRS on high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (p = 0.03), aspartate aminotransferase (p = 0.04), alanine transaminase (p = 0.05), insulin (p = 0.04), and plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (p = 0.002). Adherence to h-PDI was more strongly related to decreased levels of the aforementioned markers among participants in the second or top tertile of GRS than those with low GRS. These results highlight that following a plant-based dietary pattern considering genetics appears to be a protective factor against the risks of cardiometabolic abnormalities.

복부 비만 노년 여성을 위한 슬랙스 패턴 개발 (Development of Slacks Pattern for Old Aged Abdominal Obese Women)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the differences in external appearances and functional qualities between the slacks which were patterned on existing designs and on a new design in order to improve on their level of comfort of ready-made clothes for abdominally fat women. Five abdominally fat women in their 60's were chosen as experimental participants. Twenty-four external evaluation items, and seven different actions involving six moving parts of the body were investigated with a 5-level scale in the repeated wearing test. The results were analyzed by statistical methods. The newly designed pattern in this study was definitely superior to the other two patterns(L-type and K-type) on the external appearance evaluation. The newly pattern removed a waist belt and a dart from the front part of the garment and gave surplus space around the waist. It prevented superfluous wrinkles at the abdominal region and thighs. The superfluous wrinkles at the side regions also disappeared due to the length (inseam) reduction from waist to crotch. The newly pattern made the center-line of the back side slightly sloped to the main pattern in order to remove the drooped line. The newly pattern showed the highest score in the functional test of several actions. It was due to the reduction of the length from waist to crotch as well as the belt width. It made waist-line movement better, and made it easier and more comfortable to sit down. The newly pattern also showed the highest score in the functional test classified by specific movements of parts of the body for the same purpose. The slacks which were made of elastic materials showed better results than the non-elastic ones on external appearances and functional test items. It showed that the elastic materials played a better role in the increase of functional action of abdominally fat, aged women. This study suggests that the newly designed slacks pattern could give abdominally fat, aged women better external features and a more comfortable fitting sensation. As well, the results were significant as basic data to produce ready-made and/or tailer-made garments.

65세 이상 노인에서 사상체질에 따른 식습관, 영양소 섭취상태 및 질병 양상에 관한 연구(II) (Food Habits, Nutrients Intake, and Disease Distribution according to Sasang Constitutions in the Elderly Aged over 65 Years(II))

  • Since the 1970s, the average life expectancy of Koreans has been increasing. Our concerns are not simply about longevity, but also about disability-free life. lately, Sasang constitutional medicine has attracted public attention, especially with respect to the elderly. The purpose of this study was to investigate the food habits, nutrients intake, and disease distribution among the elderly, according to their Sasang constitutions. The results are as follow : The distribution of constitutions of the subjects were Tae-eum 48.8%, So-yang 27.4%, So-eum 22.6%, and So-yang + So-eum 1.2%. In both elderly men and women, body weight, percent ideal body weight, and diastolic pressure of the Tae-eum were significantly higher than those of other constitutions. In both men and women, the level of hemoglobin in the Tae-eum was significantly higher than those of other constitutions. The level of LDL-cholesterol was higher, and the level of HDL-cholesterol was lower in the So-eum elderly women. Food habits of the So-eum were the most irregular, and nutrients intake of the So-eum was lower than that of other constitutions in both elderly men and women. In elderly men, the incidence of hypertension was the highest in the Tae-eum, and the incidence of gastritis was the highest in both So-yang and So-eum. In elderly women, the incidence of fatty liver was the highest in the Tae-eum and So-yang, and gastritis and hypertension were the highest in the So-eum. In the elderly, obese and anemic persons were significantly more in the Tae-eum and the So-eum, respectively. The results of this study showed that there were significant differences of physical, characeristics, food, habits, and distributions of disease for the subjects according to each Sasang constitutions. Intake of nutrient was poor, regardless of Sasang constitutions, in both men and women.

Development of a Bodice Prototype Drafting Method for 20s Plus-size Women

  • 본 연구는 일반적인 체형의 여성과 구분되는 특징을 가지고 있는 플러스 사이즈 여성을 대상으로 상반신 의류 제작의 기초가 되는 보디스 원형을 개발하고자 한다. 이를 통하여 비만 인구의 증가로 시장이 활성화되고 있는 플러스 사이즈 여성 의류 개발의 기초가 되는 자료를 제공하고자 한다. 1차 외관 및 의복압 평가를 통해 옆목점 이동, 뒤진동다트 분량 추가, 앞처짐분 추가 등의 패턴을 수정하였다. 2차 평가를 통해 옆선 수직, 뒤중심선 목부분 들뜸, 뒤진동다트 분량 추가 등을 수정하였다. 3차 평가를 통해서는 옆선의 수직 분량 추가, 뒤진동다트 분량 추가를 통해 최종 패턴 제도법을 개발하였다. 20대 플러스 사이즈 여성 체형의 경우 복부의 돌출로 옆선의 설정 및 밑단의 설정 방법에 일반 체형과 구별되는 제도법이 요구되었다. 본 연구는 20대 플러스 사이즈 여성의 체형에 적합한 보디스 원형 제도법을 제시하였다는 점에 그 의의가 있다. 후속 연구에서는 실제 의복 제작을 통한 착용감 평가가 이루어져야 할 것으로 생각된다.
